01-02, my dad and i had season tickets, we went to all of the playoffs games together... on the night the wings hoisted the cup, my dad was at the game and i was in the hospital having surgery done. this friday, my dad and i are going to the game.

Abdelkader - Helm - Downey will be the new Maltby - Draper - McCarty think of the fun that'll be! But, is it possible Downey will ever make it in the lineup full time? Also, that freep article says Maltby and Drapes still think they have more left in the tank. Maybe they do, but what about your young guys!? How long are Malts and Drapes thinking of staying??

the wings style of play is the kryptonite for that youthful energetic and tenacious style of the hawks. our puck control will take them out of their game. outhitting them cleanly will frustrate them. and silencing the united center will be oh so delicious.

Well I for one found that very touching. I hope your grandma and you find peace. And I hope you realize your dream of drinking from the cup! PTL for these Red Wings and a sport that generates truly inspirational warriors. GO WINGS!!!

1) Depends how you define big. But Valterri Filpula has tons of potential. Franzen is proving he's on more than just a hot streak. Hudler's got some moves. Helm's got a hell of a lot of intensity and hussel. And Jimmy Howard is one of our up-and-coming goalies who for a while (not so much anymore) was regarded as the second coming of christ (in goalie form). 2) I think ozzie will be signing 1 or 2 years at a time on a yearly/bi-yearly basis now. So, that one's kindof a "we'll see." 3) Being that the wings are consistently one of the best teams (made the playoffs 17 years in a row now or something like that) the staff tried their darndest to make good use of their end-of-the-line draft picks. So we looked in hidden places, like Sweden, and we have an expert scout over there in that country. Also, the swedish style of hockey is very consistent with the Wings puck-possesion style. So, it all works out! 4) Tossed into the Detroit river to keep the population of... (i cant remember what) down. Or something like that. I'm don't believe Detroit has an aquarium... so sad.

In tempo with the lightness/positive maintenance by most people around here, I just wanna say: What a pretty goal by Johan last night! This guy doesn't miss a beat. He's got incredible hands and such a soft touch for a man of his size. I always giggle like a school girl when Franzen puts one in the back of the net. And I love at the Joe that giddy-up cowboy voice that says "Yo Hahn!" in the fashion of "Raw-hide!" whenever the Mule scores. It makes me think of that donkey at the end of The Man Show that says "Yokozuna," so I made this: And for the record, I'm not disheartened by that loss last night. It wasn't even a bad loss. We almost made a comeback! People were predicting Wings in 5 or 6. Well in order for it to go 5 or 6 games, you gotta lose one. So no complaining.

if there are a bunch of bs calls/no-calls in favor of the flyers tonight, i'd say thats pretty suspicious.

i would just like to point out that when ken kal delved to find out what the official said to babcock about the no-goal, he found out that the official claimed "holmstrom's skates weren't in the crease, but i called no-goal because his rear-end was in the crease" ...there you have it folks. the refs can now make up new rules on the fly in the middle of a game.

dude, youre about to get flamed. those 5 were on the ice for a good solid 2 minutes at LEAST, getting worked in their own zone. that was by far the lamest goal i've seen in these playoffs.

1) What's the reason behind Versus not showing the national anthem being sung? 2) I find it slightly dissatisfying/upsetting/irritating (just slightly) to attend a Wings game (an FSN-televised Wings game) at the Joe and being unable to hear the enlightening and informative and dedicated commentary of Ken and Mick (not to mention timely and pertinent instant replays; nobody's snappier with them then the FSN-Detroit crew). Anyone think this plays a part in the low attendance? (moreso during the regular season) I think we just have it too good with arguably the best announcers in sports broadcasting (imo) and thats another reason for people just staying home. If I could get FSN on a handheld tv while I attended the games... that would be the s***. Of course, I'd look like quite a nerd/loser. 1270 AM is fine and dandy too, though. But anyway, does anyone else think Ken and Mick in your living room factors into not going to the game at the Joe?

Maybe I should have started a new thread for this but... I've seen a lot of comments like this. That Turco has a horrible history at the Joe. Which, he really does. But, is that truly a considerable factor in this series? It can't be just coincidence, maybe the Wings w/ home adv. really does intimidate Marty. But do you think he can put this ugly past behind him for this WCF best of 7? Or is the trend bound to continue? If this series goes to game 7, which I think is a major possibility, I seriously hope Marty's JLA curse continues.
