Report: Red Wings out on Lecavalier - signs with Philly 5@4.5 per

Far too many NMC's being thrown around by GM's these days. It's getting ridiculous. -
Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years

On the Oilers where there is zero leadership to be had. -
Good news. Keep Lashoff as the 7th Dman. And if Sammy plays the injured card to keep the Wings from buying him out (which doesn't make sense at all cause if a team doesn't want you and will pay you 2/3 anyways, take the money and get the eff out) then the Wings should waive him and when he clears, demote him all the way to Toledo. ******* goof!

So how long until they trade Coburn and waive Grossman? Can't be afraid to have a back up goalie, oh and Giroux, Couturier and Read will be getting substantial raises after next year. Good thing Pronger has 4 years left on the LTIR. Dafuq Philly....dafuq. -

You know you're going to a solid team with a chance to win the Cup when you can sign as a free agent and take the C right away. That's pretty lame too for the guys that were already there. -

Hawks re-sign Bickell (4 years 16 mill)
Z Winged Dangler replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
I would have given him $4mil per. He brings more than 40 points to the table for sure. If he gets 40 that would be good. I see him getting 50-60 next sesaon in the Hawks top 6 and the element he brings to the table above that, which gives him far more value than a guy like Filppula, is that he creates space for guys like Toews and Kand and Hossa etc, to get more points than they would get if they had to create their own space. Bickell was moved from the 3rd line back up to the 1st/2nd line and the Hawks shifted back the momentum and won the cup. He also tied that game up by battling in front of the net and banging home a rebound Holmstrom style. His worth is $4 mil and I'd be ok if Holland would have given him the contract the Hawks did. -
The Wings currently have $8,207,121 in cap space. If Sammy will piss off and let the Wings buy him out without whining that he's injured and Kenny parts ways with Colo, the Wings would have $13,707,121. That should be enough to sign Brunner at $3mil, Levavalier at $5mil, Nyquist at $1.9 and Andersson at $1.5 with money left over. $2,307,121 to be exact which I would assume that Smith will get about $1.7 mil per for 2 years. After next year we'll have R/UFA's of Sammy, Tuzzi, Eaves, Tatar, Emmerton, Quincey, Ericsson, Colo, Dekeyser and Gustavsson. Sammy and Colo are buyout candidates, so they may not be here anyways...hopefully they won't be. And I'm suspecting that our re-signings out of the list above are Tatar, Ericsson and DeKeyser with the other spots going to fresh graduates like Callahan, Sproul, Ouellet and Frk/Tvrdon. Keep the youth movement moving. ELC's will be needed to keep the cap down for at least the next 5-7 years barring the cap going up more than $1mil each year. Kenny really needs to buy out Sammy and Colo though. I'm also interested to see what these apparent trades are he's been hinting at. This week will be very interesting across the entire NHL.

http://www.capgeek.com/flyers/ take a glance at their D. 7 guys (including Pronger) with the lowest salary at $3.5mil (Grossman, the incredible pilon). If only they had 4 more buyouts. 6 forwards R/UFA next offseason: Giroux, B.Schenn, Couturier, and Read are the notable names. So the answer to that question, unless they dump Grossman and trade Coburn to the Oilers as previously planned, no, no they will not compete for the cup.

My money is obviously on Hampus Melen. Now THAT is a household name! I'm not jumping on the bandwagon on this one, I'm pulling it, which is fine cause it's not heavy.
-
Melencoly and the infinite Hampus.
-
He still Kronwalls guys, but he doesn't get injured like he used to. Didn't he have a bad leg injury at one point and he came back after it much bigger and stronger? Pretty sure that was his last big injury if i'm not mistaken. I just hope that they work with Hampus and have him take Kronwall's path, cause he's pretty sturdy these days.

Red Wings select RW Anthony Mantha 20th Overall
Z Winged Dangler replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He said his goal is to make the Wings next year. Any of us could tell him he won't, but if he sets goals and busts his ass to meet them, then none of us will be able to question his work ethic. 6'4, has a hell of a shot, looks like he can move his feet....as long as he keeps a good attitude, continues to improve then we have a very good #1 pick. He had 50 goals last season. That's a good start. -
Tyler Seguin available? what would do cost be
Z Winged Dangler replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Seguin will be a really good 2-way forward, close to a point per game. He would be worth a decent amount, but I'd rather watch our guys take the spots that are theirs like they did this past season. Rask is a really good goalie, but no goalie is worth more than a $6mil cap hit unless they play 75+ games a year allowing a league min signing as a backup. I'd love Horton, but wanting $6mil per with some injury issues and he hasn't had a season yet that's worthy of that money. He's been a big playoff guy, but with the cap going down $6mil, GM's need to stop watching Shero raise bars like it's a high jump contest. -
Kronwall used to be a tiny kid too, hence his early injury woes. Now he Kronwall's guys. Hopefully Hampus fills out that 6'2 bean pole of his and keeps up his decent scoring numbers.

That 3 page thread is one of the worst piles of crap I've ever read. They want Datsyuk, or they want Nyquist + Frk/Jurco + 1st....... I was very surprised to see Zykov go as late as he did. There were some kinda weird picks in the 1st round. Those guys really put their names on the map the season after they were drafted and let us know their value in the WJC. That's the excitement of the draft is knowing they're in the organization now and really following them in their final year of Jr, or their 2nd season in the elite leagues with more ice time after a summer of hard training. Wait to see Anthony Mantha in the WJC next year. 50 goal season should secure him a spot.
-
Likely yes. They can basically afford the rest of their players to be ELC's, and not max ELC money either. GM of the year just for killing the Pens future.
-
If little Tuzzi is what it seems he is, then he would make a very nice s*** disturbing linemate for Helm and possibly Callahan in a few years. I'm mildly intrigued. Hampus Melen to you sir! His name sounds like a greeting of sorts, and I like it.
-
Hampus Melen is the best name in hockey since Zarley Zalapski and Enrico Ciccone.
-
Best name in the draft. They should have drafted him for play by play if nothing else. I may change my be a pro name in NHL 13 to HAMPUS MELEN!
-
Not for that cap hit when they already have inflated salaries for Hall and Eberle and will have to pay to keep Nuge, Schultz and Yakupov assuming Yak doesn't get dealt in a package to the Preds for Weber. And in the deep corners of the earth there are rumors that Gagner will be going to Toronto for Phaneuf.
-
Ference should go to the Flyers. Their D could use a durable, responsible Dman like him. and waive Grossman.
-
One may wonder what the Wings plan to do with this guy. He's a big tough SOB that can play forward of defense. If he plays D, he could be our Scott Stevens type which would make my day, but if he played forward, dare I say he could be as close as we could get to our old fan favorite Bob Probert. Not saying he's the same as the 2 guys above, but it would be nice to think we have a guy in our system that could play one of those 2 roles, and hopefully do it well.
-
But Shero is GM of the year! I thought he could sign EVERYONE!
-
I'd like Pulock more than maybe anyone else in the 1st round, but he may end up on the Flyers with pick 11 at which time he will give his uncle or cousin or someone like that the thumbs up on tv....so the story goes. He's 1st on my list for the draft, but he's a Sproul type, we have Sproul and we desperately need a couple power forwards.
