Not in a draft this deep. That's why a bunch of guys on here are ok for a change with trading our 1st for 2nd rounders. Max Domi is set to go like 25th or something like that and he's damn good. Small, but good. At 159 pounds he's more getting knocked down rather than falling. He'd be fine in the 3rd/4th round, but for 1-3 we need big nasty bastards. 6'3 or bigger. Mantha would be nice in the 1st round, McCarron in the 2nd if he's around and the biggest dude left in the draft in the 3rd please. Time to be as big as the Kings and Bruins and punish other teams as opposed to being the one out there getting pulverised constantly.

ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

Agreed. Notice the past 4 seasons of injuries for us and notice that teams like Boston and LA are winning Cups cause they're big, tough and skilled. And the Hawks are still around cause of their grit and skill and guys like Bickell causing headaches for the other team.

Mark my words, Pens and Kings will win game 3 even if they don't deserve to. The refs will immediately kill the B's and Hawks momentum with a fluffy call and Bettman will sit in the crowd with that smug s***eating look on his face thinking to himself, some players make more than me now, more game 7's could get me a raise. Hurr durr skippety derp Go Bettman! He should be on the cover of NHL 14 with the players, owners and the NHL logo on puppet strings.

Flip will sign with the Ducks and centre Selanne or he will no doubt centre Hudler in the fiery abyss knows as Calgary. He will not be a Wing next year at anything over 4 mil, whereas I would not pay him more than 3. He has far from earned a raise for 1 year of reached potential and 4 of meh.

I have been one of the single biggest bashers of Cleary this year cause I feel he screws up more scoring chances than he creates, he falls down a lot and half of his points come off lucky bounces such as deflecting a shot in off his chest while skating across the net. But in saying that, at least he goes to those scoring areas, even if he rarely wins a puck battle along the boards he gets in there and he battles hard even when he's injured. I still don't know how Flip got injured, but regardless, though I don't want either back I'd rather have Cleary at max 2 mil than Flip at anything more than the 3 mil he already got paid and reached his potential 1 year out of 5. How do you have such a terrible contract year when your asking for a payday you essentially already got getting paid 15 million for potential??? I'd rather keep Nyquist and Tatar up full time. Let Flip and Cleary walk and buy out Sammy and possibly Tuzzi, though I love Tuzzi and always will.

Which UFA would help the Wings the most?
Z Winged Dangler replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Those are my top 2 with Ryder as #3. I chose Horton though cause despite Clarkson as a potential great fit for the Wings, I fully expect him to be a Leaf next season. He grew up a huge Wendel Clark and Leafs fan and rumour states we're #2 on his list. Horton is just as good as him, maybe better and as you can see, dude is a clutch performer. So I'd go with: 1. Horton 2. Clarkson 3. Ryder Canucks and Flyers are pooched. The Pens traded away future guys for Morrow, Iginla and Murray to try and squeeze out 1 more Cup and then they'll have zero depth beyond Malkin, Crysby and Neal for the foreseeable future. And they'll soon find out how hard it is to maintain a long term playoff team without top 5 picks every year for a decade!! HAHAHA f***ers! -

I've been telling people at work all along that the B's are the only team in the East that could take those chumps down and they all tell me "no, they barely got by the Leafs. The Pens are gonna win the Cup easy". They barely got by a much improved Leafs team that made the playoffs for the first time since 2 CBA's ago. They were fired up and they played great minus a collapse. The Wings barely got by the Ducks and then Hawks barely got by the Wings and now the Hawks are eating the defending champs for breakfast. What a messed up game we love. -
Potential Players being Bought Out This Summer
Z Winged Dangler replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
There's always the chance he could be bought out, but maybe a new coach in NY will sort things out there instead of buying out a guy who usually is a great point producer, former Conn Smythe award winner and one hell of a playmaker. There's still skill there, but Tortorella misused him and he didn't get full value out of him. As for other buyouts, Sammy needs to go and if Tuzzi is off the LTIR then he could be bought out and retire. I think he's still got use on the Wings, but his health is more important than lingering for a year or 2 more. See Rafalski. -
When we have the likes of Sproul, Ouellet, Backman, Jensen, Nicastro, Almqvist, McKee and such coming up through the ranks, we don't need to keep signing ok Dmen for a couple years to bridge gaps. We need to give the spot on the team to the best player that we have. After next year, the best Dmen we have will likely be the first 3 on that list that will be fighting for 1 or 2 spots on the Wings. So as much as I like Smith, he better prove his worth this year coming up and Lashoff should show he's a shutdown guy, or they can be packaged for a forward and Sproul, Ouellet and Backman can take the reigns.

When Iginla stopped a pending trade with Boston and Calgary got dirt for him in a trade, Iginla can choke on a turd. Go Bruins! I've been wearing my Lucic shirt about the city snarling at Penguins fans.

I didn't even read this before I posted mine, but we signed the same 2 guys and we both let Flip walk. I would keep Q though and let him go after next season, same goes for Gustavsson. Then I'd take another look at Mrazek to see if he's a capable back up for Howard and I'd fast track Sproul and maybe get Backman up with him in 2014 depending on how our D is performing. Ouellet will likely be more on the fast track as well.

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER My Custom Lineup FORWARDS Johan Franzen ($3.955m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Michael Ryder ($3.500m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.788m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Nathan Horton ($4.000m) Damien Brunner ($1.350m) / Joakim Andersson ($0.605m) / Tomas Tatar ($0.840m) Justin Abdelkader ($1.800m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Danny DeKeyser ($1.350m) / Brendan Smith ($0.827m) Kyle Quincey ($3.775m) / Jakub Kindl ($1.050m) Brian Lashoff ($0.725m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($5.292m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) OTHER Buyout: Mikael Samuelsson ($0.000m) Buyout: Todd Bertuzzi ($0.000m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $55,997,254; BONUSES: $1,010,000 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $9,312,746 I traded Coliacovo and unfortunately Tootoo. Amnesty buyout on Sammy and once again unfortunately Tuzzi. Tuzzi is broken and Tootoo may as well play somewhere. I re-signed the Wings players I wanted to keep and added Horton and Ryder. Horton as the power forward to play with Dats, and Ryder cause the Habs aren't re-signing him and he's a sniper who would be great with Goose and Z. Other than that, status quo with Tatar up full time. That's a Cup contender. I would go after Clarkson, but in all reality, he will likely be a Leaf next season.

good call. Retirement and NHL 14 cover will be used in the same sentence for the first time! It should be someone like Dats, or Quick, or Tavares. I'd even like to see Van Riemsdyk for it or Krejci. But Bobrovsky or Brodeur??? Bob's had A good season and Brodeur should have been on it 8 years ago.

Datsyuk: I want to sign extension with Wings this summer
Z Winged Dangler replied to Jedi's topic in General
And Jurco. Jurco needs Dats the most of any Wings prospect for obvious reasons, though they can all learn magic tricks from him. -
For 1 year at less than 2 mil? Lots of teams could use him.

Let's Talk About Abdelkader, Plus Others
Z Winged Dangler replied to dropkickshanahans's topic in General
I'd throw Michael Ryder in that mix too. Dude can bulge twine. -
Michael Ryder is available. I prefer realistic. If we're gonna sign like last offseason and you want unrealistic, then Ryder, Clarkson, Horton and Scuderi. Tuzzi retires. Sammy and Colo are bought out. Tootoo is traded cause he wants to play. Cleary, White and Miller don't re-sign. Flip signs with Calgary. Franzen is traded to a southern team, cause he likes the sun and it's fun there.

Babcock probably meant if he's playing again at the beginning of the season, not in general.

Signed Alexei Marchenko signs 3 year entry level deal

GR is gonna be so dirty next year. If they don't win the Calder Cup, it'll be a failed season. That's how good they'll be. -
I noticed that right away and was typing something for the GDT but forgot to hit post. I was laughing at that pretty good. I hate Pierre. Z's the Captain, if he's gonna talk during the intermission it'll be to the boys.
-
Those are the 2 teams I'll be pulling for, refreshing the TSN scores as my cable will no longer exist. Crysby and CamelToews can have fun playing against bigger, meaner opponents.

I voted no. I'm disgusted by his effort level in the playoffs and the fact that he watches Z and Dats work their asses off and can't even get open in a spot with a good shooting angle, but he still has value and he's still a top 6 guy, where not all of our top 6 are. Our top 6 is Z, Dats, Mule, Nyquist and maybe Brunner. That's 5 guys and Brunner may be a 2-3 tweener. We also can't expect Ilitch to foot a large bill to buy him out. that would be 40-50 mil would it not? And like a few have stated, he still has trade value, so I'd push that route first. If I was GM and could amnesty buyout someone, it would be Sammy. Tuzzi will likely be a LTIR and then retire after next season, so he won't really be taking a spot. Nathan Horton and David Clarkson are really the only 2 that come to mind. I thought you had to use an amnesty buyout during the season and the other if you choose to do so, in the offseason. I could be wrong, but can anyone confirm this?

Not sure. s*** happens i guess. Time to let some guys go and make space for Tatar and Co.
