Maybe the NHL should have kept going with the idea of making equipment out of the crock material instead of suits of armor so there's less impact from the guys equipment on their heads and we'd see less concussions. Keith Primeau was working on it a number of years ago, and I for one would like to know why we still have these massive hard plastic shoulder and elbow pads. Ovie's a repeat offender with questionable hits. Abdelkader isn't.

Abdelkader was on his feet until contact was made and the impact of the hit lifted him off his feet. Same thing happens each and every time someone gets Kronwalled. Physics take over... I'm just so tired of people not being able to take a hit in the NHL and keep the play going. Guys should just learn to keep their heads up. And that's the only reason a penalty was even called was cause he laid there for forever and a day. The ref nearest wasn't calling jack, and we tune back in after a tv timeout for roadkill control and Abs gets 5 and a game. NHL is bushleague.

Abdelkader's major is everything that is wrong with the No Hitting League.

They were playing really good and dictating a lot of the pace until the BS call on Abdelkader. I guess they lost interest when I did. I decided there were better things to do as soon as they got their 1st goal. The NHL is a complete joke and I'm very close to cancelling my cable. It's all good until the Ducks tie the game on the Bobby Ryan goal when he should have got a blatant hooking penalty to get the puck away from our guy right before that, and Getzlaf's goal Palmieri was in deep in the crease shoving Filppula into Howard. This game should never have got close to OT had the refs call the Ducks on their s*** and not just the Wings to "make the game interesting". Every game it's the same thing, penalties need to be even just like little kids getting participant ribbons. The only lopsided reffing I've seen was the Sharks against us in the playoffs a few years ago when their PP's outnumbered us like 40-9 or something like that. The Ducks should have lost 6-1 last night. The refs helped them in the 3rd until Souray pulled idiot.

I didn't even know this happened until this morning when i was drinking my coffee and saw a headline on TSN that DeKeyser likely to miss the rest of the post season. My heart sunk bad. Is anyone else just not feeling it today now? Cause that's where I'm at. He's my legit #1 favorite Dman now. Can we get some good news that Helm is ready now, cause that's the only thing that could offset this in any way cause Lids is not eligible...

I was hoping so bad that he would get his 1st career playoff goal out of the way and for it to be a GWG in OT is as you stated, so sweet! He was hustling so hard all game and that's exactly what we've been missing the past 4 years is the young legs to compliment the experience. Goose deserved that goal.

I sincerely hope that his thumb magically heals itself in warp speed. I no longer feel good about our playoff run. That's how valuable I believe DeKeyser is to our D depth now. If White or Coliacovo play over Lashoff, I may cancel my cable, and that's how much I believe in those 2 turds. We need actual good shutdown Dmen like DeKeyser on our 2nd/3rd pairings, not a puck moving Dman that can't make a tape to tape pass and that ices the puck constantly. Danny makes that 1st pass like a 10 year vet star Dman. f***! And now we have neither and it's making me very upset. And you're bang on, that's exactly how it feels.

I will never again call Howard a bad puck handler, for he is better at it than Quick. They should go to the Marty Brodeur puck handling camp together though.

I hope for Harding's sake he doesn't get injured. I have no love for the Wild, but Harding is a warrior that gets an A++ in my books for still playing hockey.

I've wanted Cleary out of the line up long before this. And Tuzzi would add size we need bad. Take out Emmerton for a game. Move Franzen to 2nd C, Flip 3rd and Andersson 4th. Helm would be an improvement over a lot of guys cause he can match speed with Cogliano and no one else on our team can.

If we trade a good Dman, then maybe we can get a top 6 forward with size that doesn't fall, that can shoot and goes to the middle of the ice and.....nevermind, we'll just re-sign Cleary cause he's paid to do all those things. No, please don't move our Dmen to the wing. If they can't crack the 6 D spots, they're expendable. Same goes for our forwards.

That was my first thought. Whoever doesn't get taken 2nd is gonna have a blast playing on a team that has way more potential than the other 2. I really couldn't care less about Jones. I've watched him a bunch and didn't think he was overly special. Good player, but i'll wait until he's at least a .5 point per game player in the NHL, a + player that hits lots and shuts guys down at an elite level before I concede that he's the next big D man in the league. McKinnon is really good, but I think Drouin is going to end up with the best career out of anyone from this years draft. He'd look good on a line with Stamkos and St. Louis. Maybe they'll get the Oilers pick too when they trade Weber to them for Yakupov, Gagner and a 1st at the draft table.

I wore 19 playing hockey until Yzerman retired, and I now get 40. My favorite number changes as my favorite active player does.

We need Helm to match up against Cogliano. As Darkmanx said, we need Tuzzi to match size with Getzlaf and Perry. We need Cleary out of the top 6 for Tatar. And lastly, game 1 reminded me of last years playoffs against Nashville where we got to the playoffs and then forgot to bring offense with us. They didn't create jack for offense and I almost fell asleep half way through that borefest.

Sammy in no way, shape or form should ever play another game in a Wings uniform. Tuzzi should be in to replace Cleary, however Eaves probably will be sat for him even though him and Tootoo have been awesome together, and Emmerton won't sit cause he's our 4th centre. Nyquist will not be sat. The likelyhood of that happening at this point is less than the likelyhood of someone grabbing a brain and sitting Cleary. He got a lucky bounce for our goal last game off Kindl's shot. Other than that he was falling down as usual and being his normal useless self. What does Babs do though you ask? Bring in Sammy to replace Tootoo or Eaves and then say the players dictate their ice time.

Howard should be in Vezina talks for sure. That's hilarious. We won the season series with our current D. What a moron that said that.

DeKeyser didn't even need to mature. He just stepped in and played 2nd pairing minutes and it was seamless. And for that, I thank the Wings, Babcock and Holland for signing him and giving him minutes.

Brunner and Nyquist have been creating as many chances as Dats and Z. The difference is finish. The guy that should be on a short leash is Filppula, cause he's producing like a 4th liner.
