Achilles hell = Fleury and Vokoun is so-so. They're good, but I personally still think that in a 7 game series, Boston comes out on top. Morrow is good, but he's had injuries the past few seasons and is on a rather steep decline. Iginla is a good pick up and hopefully just a rental. I think he'll look like s*** in a Pens uni. Murray is a good, big shutdown guy. I believe the Pens are improved unfortunately as I swallow the puke i have no where to spit out. I truly hope for a 1st round exit for both the Pens and Canucks so we can enjoy the playoffs a little more just like last year knowing full well that neither of those garbage organizations will celebrate with the Cup. Love Iginla, got the t-shirt (about 8 years ago lol), but the Pens are just intolerable and I can no longer cheer for one of my all-time favorite players. It's the equivalent of Ray Bourque going to the Avs.

Doubt we would be able to get Yandle or Girardi. I'd try to get Visnovsky if they'd take White or Quincey in a trade. Other than him, not much interest in the list. I know he's 35+, but he would be one of those guys that gets the puck up to the forwards quick and that's a main complaint about our current D.

GDT 3/28 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Sharks 2
Z Winged Dangler replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Did I miss something? I though Brent Burns was a Dman? Or did he do the reverse Byfuglien and move up to forward? I'd like to see a huge win by the Wings to send a message that they are in fact still a beast and 10+ steals by Datsyuk, all on Joe Thornton. -
In all likelyhood he'll be a rental. I could have cheered for Iginla to come out of the east with Boston and go for the Cup, but Pittsburgh...not a ******* chance I will cheer for him to even get a point from here on I hate the Pens that much. The only teams I didn't want Iginla to go to really were the Pens, Canucks and Sharks. There's no way in hell they can afford to keep him unless he plays for peanuts next year. I'm not even sure how they can afford him now. He makes 7 or something like that, Crosby and Malkin both at 8.7, Morrow makes 4 ish I believe, Letang and Fleury make good bank... I'm going to capgeek to figure out how they're making this work even under the 70.2 cap, let alone how they're gonna keep most of their players when it goes down to 64 mil next year. Ruined my morning finding this BS out.

Yup. Hence my mountain of sarcasm praising horrible GM's. I had fun typing it.

Iginla may/may not have added Detroit to his trade list
Z Winged Dangler replied to a topic in General
Once Iginla is traded to the Bruins, it will pave way for Hudler to take his rightful place as the Flames captain for Calgary is just that good. -
I definitely give the Flyers GM a nod for burying Prongers contract and signing an elite superstar goalie for 7 years and having superb D all the while. Also, Minnesota's GM for having 5 guys over 6 mil and 3 of those 5 over 7 mil. Gonna give a nod to good old Garth Snow for having 1/3 of his cap to goalies and 2/3 of his goalie's salary is going to Pina Coladas. Edmonton's GM is pretty much the man. 312 forwards under 24 and 1 good Dman that he got cause he didn't want to play for the Ducks. Instead of puck hogs with attitude problems like Yakupov, why not build at least once from the back end and draft Ryan Murray? Naw, all that offense is making sure they don't get shutout numerous times in a shortened season. Kenny Holland has to be the worst GM in the league by far with crappy company in Boston, Chicago and LA. Cause they all won cups since 2008 and are pretty much terrible now.

It would be a lot like Dats with Hossa who is the last Wings player to score 40. Gaborik isn't nearly as good defensively as Hossa, but offensively he may be even more gifted. And he's fast as all hell. I've had this thread open for a while apparently....we kinda posted the same type deal. Been sidetracked by Resident Evil 6. I would love to have him here either way.

I would absolutely expect him to struggle at first. NHL is the fastest game in the world, the toughest as well. The things that are said about Dekeyser is that he has all the tools to be a top player, just like Brendan Smith who has had flashes of brilliance this year, but has also struggled at times. If Dekeyser plays with a more experienced Dman then he should pick it up pretty quick. The main thing is though, does he want to be a Wing and possibly spend some of this year in GR, or does he want to go to a franchise like Edmonton who with all their "talent" still can't sniff the playoffs? He knows as much as the rest of us that the Wings ALWAYS have a bright future ahead one way or another, due to great management.

That could be quite fun to watch. Jarnkrok is a C too with Tatar and Nyquist at wing so it's like it was meant to be. Sammy can jump in Nyquist's spot.
-
What I'm wondering is: Justin Schultz was supposed to start the year with Edmonton. More offensively gifted, but not defensively. Seth Jones is expected to jump right onto the team that drafts him this summer while Jacob Trouba was the best Dman in the WJC, and is in college right now and my skip his senior year to come play for the Jets (as per the analysists from TSN Jets last night) but... Dan Dekeyser isn't as good as any of the other 3, yet he took the same path as Schultz and finished his senior year at college and played 1 more year than Trouba and Seth Jones is even younger and fresher but can step right into the NHL. I'll go on the list of guys that believes that Dekeyser can jump into the top 4 here and replace White, whom in all likelyhood will not be a Wing next year and he'll do a good job. He's highly touted for his skating ability where at a camp, guys thought he was a forward he was such a good skater. And he's a shutdown defensive guy who can put up points and makes smart pinches. I'm not seeing a downside to him being in the top 4 and I truly hope he ends up here. After losing over the years Konstantinov, Fischer, Rafalski, Schneider, Stuart, Lidstrom and i'm sure I missed a couple, we need a young Dman to step in and anchor the blue line for the next 15.
-
Tatar could come back up any time. Flip may be gone next season anyways, and really it would be contingent on Gaborik re-signing with the Wings and at a lower salary. Helm should also be back soon and we would also not have to have Tootoo as a healthy scratch every 2 games like we currently do. Franzen is lazy.
-
I have the TSN Jets channel and have watched probably half of the games this year and haven't really heard much during the games from or about him. He's just having a really quiet year offensively, but he is definitely not lazy. Kid hustles his ass off every shift. I'm not sure what Noel is doing with him, but he should at least be on the 3rd line, especially seeing as the Jets are terrible at holding leads. They could use that 2-way forward out there more often in clutch D situations.

Semin re-signs with Carolina: 5 years, $35 million ($7M/yr)

Semin is a lazier floater than Franzen. I could not possibly be happier that he re-signed with Carolina. -

11 for the Flames -
If Dekeyser is truly a Wings fan, he knows how the system works here and if he has to spend a little seasoning time until the end of the year in GR, then he should do that for the better of himself and the franchise he's loved for so many years. Hopefully he chooses the Wings and plays to a level that they give him automatic ice time with the big club.
-
White hasn't been bad the past few games, I'll give him that, but he hasn't been really good either. Kindl has been playing really good pretty much all season so that masks the fact that White misses a LOT of D zone coverage while he watches the play unfold and he still can't make the first pass to save his life. Watch how many times he just throws the puck out of the zone and it goes for an icing. He hasn't impressed me yet. Decent shot from the point, but his other skills just aren't there. Rue Miller.
-
Hopefully the fact that he grew up a Wings fan and is a Michigan boy helps him pick Detroit. Edmonton has so much talent, but they are still terrible. And not only that but with Eberle and Hall both at 6 mil, Nuge will want the same, Gagne is leading the team now and will want money, Schultz will want his payday after his current contract....all said and done, the Oilers will have serious cap trouble in a couple years. Dekeyser would be better off coming to a team who actually has cap management and a winning tradition that lasted longer than the 80's.
-
Exactly. Like I said after, when he goes to the slot, he scores. He should just circle to the slot over and over until his shift is over.
-
Every time Franzen goes to the slot, he scores. Just sayin...
-
Yandle's an idiot. I hope Brunner scores on the PP.

Consensus = needs more Klinkhammer
-
with a name like Klinkhammer, he's got all the makings of the power forward we need.
-
Just saw that finally. that's some weak ass s***.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you want Kenny's deadline splash to be Klinkhammer?
