Goalie Salaries. How much is Howard worth?
Z Winged Dangler replied to redwings15's topic in General
He didn't kill himself? He's still a goalie? Man, i thought he was an ice girl for the Panthers, or he was joining the Flint Tropics or something like that. They both suck. -
But the Wings are winning the Cup. This is crazy talk yo! In all seriousness, lately with our D getting chemistry with 6 guys gelling and White where he belongs in the press box, if our offence starts getting bounces and more goals come, our boys could go deep this year. And going in, i sorta wanted them to miss the playoffs to get a good pick. I just want Ryan Pulock. Wherever we finish, get the pick around 15 or 16 and get that kid.

anyone else kinda happy about the injuries this year?
Z Winged Dangler replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
and if Sammy wasn't signed, Nyquist or Tatar could have started the season here. but he's injured, so it's all good in da hood. maybe this will send a message that the Wings need to play younger, more durable players and not give multi year deals to old news. -
Wings started winning when White's garbage turnovers a general weakness left the line up. Chemistry is running the Wings blueline now and even Q is playing good hockey, aside from his brain fart against the Hawks trying to take a clapper in the slot on a bouncing puck to clear it. In the words of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys..... I f***in' toad-a-so, f***in' toad-a-so! As for his +22, a pylon could be +22 on the other side of Lidstrom's blue line. And Kindl may have just had his best game in the NHL, so White is baggage at this point that you couldn't care less if it was lost at the airport. Time to take trim the fat.

Guys like Tatar, Andersson, Lashoff, Emmerton, Kindl and Smith are seizing their opportunities and showing us they can play Red Wings hockey.

Maybe a Dekeyser signing in the offseason and then in a couple years add Sproul and Ouellet to the mix. I'm in.

It would take the jaws of life to get Bogo from the Jets.

Hawks are looking good. It's not so much thinking about the record streak, it's when you ask yourself who the hell is gonna take these guys down in a 7 game series at this point?? if LA plays like they did last year in the playoffs, that would probably be a WCF and a damn entertaining one. St. Louis was my early pick, but injuries and inconsistent play and goaltending knocked them off that mantle.

Goalie Salaries. How much is Howard worth?
Z Winged Dangler replied to redwings15's topic in General
This. Goalies are so inconsistent in the NHL. I wouldn't want to handcuff the team by giving a goalie much more, if any more than 4 million. look at Bryzgablob. he's making over 6 mil to be the worst starter in the NHL. I'm not saying in any way that Howard will follow suit, but he should get something like 4 years 16 mil. I look at it this way too, players have to do their best to play 82 games. starting goalies get and average of 55 games. If i was a GM, i may bring this up if a goalie tries to hard ball me. -
With all the recent talk about going after UFA's this summer and the $$$ amounts that are being thrown around here, it got me thinking about the worth of players as a dollar amount and how the cap going down will affect the money players get moving forward as UFA's with a 50/50 split instead of the 57% they've been used to since the cap came in. The shortened NHL season has the cap at 60 million, can spend to a pro-rated 70.2 million. However, it doesn't state that teams can spend pro-rated amounts next season and the cap will be 64.3 million. With a lot of UFA's coming up this summer, Holland can try and get a couple good players, but the days of handing out 7.5 mil for Parise/Suter types are probably over for now. Guys stating that Perry and Getzlaf or even Semin should get signed for 8 million per year better take a good look at the upcoming cap and consider the fact that it's revenue based on when/if the cap goes up. The lockout screwed the momentum and while most of us fans came back, a lot didn't. Cap management will be difficult for the next few years for GM's and they won't be able to throw monster offers at guys or they won't have any depth whatsoever (see the Wild) and they won't have enough roster players. We can all to capgeek, but Wikipedia also gives some good information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_salary_cap. Realistically, if the NHL wants to limit the crazy overpayments to players, it starts with the GM's and keeping guys like Perry and Getzlaf under 7 million cause the cap likely won't be anywhere near 70 million in the near future. Don't be surprised to see Perry sign for 6.7ish and Getzlaf at about 5.8. The lower cap, GM's can't afford to be idiots with their money like the Wild's GM and winners like Garth Snow. The cap being lowered ultimately dropped the value of each player by 10% regarding their cap hit.

2014 Salary Cap and overpayment projections
Z Winged Dangler replied to Z Winged Dangler's topic in General
now that he's putting points up his stock is going back up but the last couple years his stats haven't been great. good but not great. I'd pay up to 7 mil for Getzlaf, but with the cap going down 7 mil for next season, you can't be throwing over 7 mil at a player or your depth will suffer greatly. -
Me too. He's an ignorant D bag and i hope like hell he re-signs with the Sharts asap. Clarkson or one of Iginla, Perry or Getzlaf or be very selective with who gets offered multi year contracts. We don't need any bridge-gapping line up tampons.

I googled similier and it's actually not a word. The only goalie in the past 20 years that hasn't used stupid huge pads is Brodeur. He is the best goalie ever to play the game and he doesn't cheat and he doesn't get rattled. Howard has been a ******* superstar the past 5 games that's for sure. Problem is that aside from the game in Vancouver, we can't seem to get the bounces to top 2 friggen goals.

Cap hit way too high and you can't be an elite #1 Dman and be "fairly one-dimensional"
