I'd put Flip in the good along with Tatar and Andersson. The kids have been spectacular and Flip, a lot of people don't notice him as much cause he spends so much of his time trying to cover for other peoples mistakes and be in perfect position to keep the puck out of our net, and on top of that, he gets points himself. Unfortunately, everyone wants him to do his thing and get 1.5 points per game. I agree 100% with the hot garbage...even Kronwall who needs to be old Kronwall again that doesn't try to do everything. Babcock needs to pair him 100% with Ericsson and keep that line for good to have some chemistry. You need a duo to fall back on that plays together as a constant.

Healthy starters the problem, Not young replacements

If not for those horrific cough ups, the momentum probably stays on the Wings' side and we've got 8 wins, not 7. Tatar and Andersson were excellent. And anyone who blames Howard for the loss, once again, just watch the giveaways on the game tape. Pathetic job from our veteran D last night. Ya he is, but he may as someone stated with the 35+ contract, stay on the LTIR if his back never seems to get better and retire after his contract ends a la Lapierre. -

The talent from GR kept us in the game until the 3rd. Last nights loss rests mostly on Kronwall (sad to say) and White. They were both as I've heard here before, "hot garbage". You can't win games when your #1 Dman is playing like he's trying to impress the world and be Nick Sr and failing epically at it. It was also stated that Kronwall should stick to being Kronwall and that he should play like when Lids was here and just go about his business. How many Kronwallings have we seen this year? And thank god for that. Not so much on Tuzzi cause he's been really good for us the past couple years and he's a warrior, but I think for his sake, he might want to hang em up once his contract expires. I always respected Rafalski for knowing when to quit, as well as Brett Hull for doing the same and being honest and just saying he couldn't keep up with the kids anymore. Those 3 expiring also clears up full time roster spots for Lashoff, Tatar and Nyquist. I was also very impressed with Andersson and was ecstatic to see him get his first goal. That's what hard work gets you and I told my dad last year when he got called up that he was a hard worker that can forcheck and he's got good positioning, and that's what got his his 1st career goal. -
Rafalski was better positionally on D as well which made him way less of a liability back there. He could read plays on both ends. Hockey sense is nice to have...

An in his prime Brodeur would have a hard time with all the horrific turnovers this D produces. What we need is another top D man and less injuries

I will be enjoying a Fatboy combo with a poutine followed by homemade cinnamon buns. By the end of the game, this is what i will look like. -

Wait until Flip has Pulkkinen on his line with an NHL'er as the 3rd guy and not a guy in the Euro leagues. If you stick a power forward or even in the future a guy like Sheahan to be the line dog and go get the puck, that would be a good fit on the Wings. There's a reason Flip was sent to play with Pulks. He's part of the plan.
-
Aside from handling his liquor? And he's a terrible driver. this will never get old. Seriously though, can't wait to see Sheahan on the Wings. We need more big guys like the Bruins and Kings to help out our smaller skilled guys. If only Abs remembered how to do things with the puck he would have been a perfect fit on the Z-Brunner line.
-
Flip is a really good 2 way forward that the wings should keep. What we need is a big nasty power forward for the 1st and 2nd lines so we dont have plugs on those lines
-
first lesson for every Dman. Abs could have turned around and drilled Oshie has Kronwall covered Berglund properly who was on his off wing ready for the one-timer that ended up in the Wings net. But s*** happens. Unfortunately those are the kinds of lapses that always seem to end up in the net. Time for Huskins to get back in the lineup cause the main thing we're lacking is real shutdown type Dmen. You only need 1 puck mover per D pairing. the other guy can be a bruiser who's defensively responsible so the offensive Dman can strut his stuff.
-
You want an undersized Dman who can move the puck, bring up Almqvist. At least he can make the first pass to not get hemmed in our own zone. I haven't missed any of the Wings games this year so far and I have yet to see 1 game where White has made anything useful happen and he's given the puck away tons of times on errant crap passes that should have went to a wide open Wing on the breakout. Sure Quincey and Cleary are complete utter garbage, but White isn't far off. Everyone sucked on that play, but there's few Wings players i'm definitely not gonna rag on and one of them is Brunner. He's been a breath of fresh air to this team and without him our offence is even weaker and we're stuck with plan A...."no winnin' for McKinnon". Z and Dats can only carry so much offensive load. Our D as a whole on the other hand has been terrible. Ericsson is the only one that I haven't seen play a bad game.
-
I lol'd so hard i almost pee'd myself.
-
But in an interview a number of games back, Babcock said the players play dictates their icetime. Apparently they all laughed at that message. I can't wait until this team is healthy and we see less White, Cleary and Quincey.
-
Where's Huskins? At least he hits and blocks shots. Thank god Kindl is actually playing decent. Our D is not doing good if White can play this bad and not get the Whitney treatment.
-
It's not in response to the penalty at all. It's every time he gets the puck he just gives it back to the other team. I never even said anything about the penalties he takes. Watch him closely, he can't make the first pass and he often ices the puck. It's hard to watch him right now.

Same passing play as on Bobby Orr's famous goal...minus the trip at the end. 4th line is inspired!
