injured Ericsson out, Getting MRI on Hip
Z Winged Dangler replied to Octopus's Garden's topic in General
Better go sign Commodore as backup. -
I thought Tampa got last years first rounder, which is why our 1st pick was Frk in the 2nd round was it not?

Terasenko gave Q the business for his first 2 career goals. Blues are gonna be good this year and Quincey along with the rest of the Wings D need to practice hard and get some chemistry. Every chance the Blues got they jumped behind the D and got great scoring chances. the boys need to tier the D instead of wondering which guy is gonna take the puck and which guy is gonna drop back. Once that gets sorted out, so do half of last nights goals.
-
The one saving grace for the Jets is that there are no games out of the conferences this season so their travel won't be as bad as last year but they're terrible on the road and will have a nasty road trip starting today after dropping game 1 at home.

I still think the Wings are pretty sexy dude. They all just forgot to sharpen their skates, my boy Brunner looked timid and Helm needs to get back asap. Just an observation though, Emmerton actually looked good in his limited ice time and Nyquist should be in the line up and Sammy should be on the 3rd line.

Living in the shadows of Nick Lidstrom would make any other Dman on a team appear less worthy. Take away Lids and we have Kronwall whom despite the fact that we've been so spoiled with Lids, is a #1 D. Putting up 40-50ish points on the 2nd pairing is no accident. The only reason he wasn't on the first pairing with Lids was to spread the wealth. If anyone here is under the impression that Kronner won't be a legit #1 guy, his play this year will undoubtedly speak for itself. People are sceaming for the likes of Weber, Suter, Pietrangelo etc, but Kronwall is every bit as valuable as all of them. Wait for his name to be in Norris talks and everyone will be on board.
-
Please add a useful and insightful opinion to the conversation. And I would rather have Kronwall on the Wings than Suter. You're apparently one of those girls that always wants what you can't have...

Schultz for all we know could be the flavor of the week. Nyquist has been over a PPG in the AHL and people here still discount how good he is. I for one don't see Schultz being better than Smith. At least Smith has 14 NHL games, and he was .50 PPG at that on the 3rd pairing. My Calder vote rests with Smith, especially with top 4 mins and possible power play time.

2013 Red Wings Predictions: Will They Win it All?
Z Winged Dangler replied to WingsFan19's topic in General
Wings win the Cup thus meaning no one else does. No other predictions need be made. -
Letang...really? I'd take Kronner over Letang and his short temper hissy fits any day of the week. Kronwall is also way better 2-way.
-
I wholeheartedly agree with everything except the Tootoo part.

Bogosian is the most solid of all those blueliners, but after last season it's hard to think that the Jets will be letting him go anywhere. He'll likely be on the top pairing this year, he gets huge PP mins now that they know how lethal his shot is and he's a great shutdown guy too. I'd take him over Yandle any day of the week. Bogo and Smith would be a nasty 2nd pairing. On a side note, I saw a dude in Superstore last night in Jets swag that looked exactly like him. I was gonna send the wife to see if it was him but then got distracted by food...

Breaking the bank for Pietrangelo next year?
Z Winged Dangler replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
I absolutely salivate at the thought of a top pairing of Kronwall and Pietrangelo, seeing as those 2 are basically my favorite Dmen in the NHL but the likelihood of the Wings getting him is not good. If Nashville can shell out the money for Weber, then St. Louis should be able to keep Pietrangelo. And with the players on the Blues right now like Oshie and Shattenkirk and a good goalie in Halak, the Blues fanbase will only get larger and they will start making more money to be able to afford big players. And if the Yotes can sign....well, anyone, then every other team should feel safe spending to the cap and collect revenue sharing. -
I'm with you 100% on this one. Being a Canadian, I feel that if it's "our game" we should prove it by taking gold. For the fans that no doubt are looking back at their lame comments likely feeling pretty embarrased as they should, they shouldn't lash out at a country cause their team bested ours. Last time I heard, Canadians were supposed to be "classy" and "nice people"....apparently we don't know how to lose with class and give credit where it's due. For us, hockey is gold or bust, but if it's a bust, learn from it. Don't make yourself and your country look bad.

I was telling my buddy the whole tournament everytime Murphy made a s***ty play that Sproul should have been there instead of him, and that was at least 14 times a game.
-
I wouldn't trade Smith 1 for 1 with Yandle. Sure Yandle is good and proven, but Smith is way grittier and I believe he will be more of the Shea Weber type we want for the Wings. At this point as well, why would we trade Flip in his prime for Selanne on his last year? Selanne goes anywhere else, it's likely to finish his career where he started it.

Everyone that is worried about losing Lidstrom, take solace in the fact that no other team in the league has a Lidstrom either. I personally see this shortened season as a trial for what is to come from new players and to see how much is left in other players tanks. Also, for defense, if Holland snags DeKeyser after this season, that'll add to depth with already drafted guys like Sproul, Oulette and McKee whom I believe will all be future Wings.
-
Is his name Ryan Sproul? What do I win?Ryan Murphy is the worst piece of garbage we've had on D for years and Subban is all hype and overrated. Should have been 2 more Wings prospects on team Canada. The US team wanted it more and had a superior goalie. and then Canada couldn't beat a team of puckhogs for bronze....not that i watched cause truth be told, i don't wake up at 3am for bronze. Better luck next year. P.S. Bring a coach next year. The excessive part is lashing out at the US for winning a hockey game that they deserved to win and not at the lazy unmotivated bums that lost the game for our country.

He made kids. No Lidstrom will ever wear a different jersey than Wings/Sweden!

All of them. Snugens. On a side note, I remember reading an article or something that apparently Babcock stated that Brunner was signed to play with Z, which is also why Z went to play with Brunner during the lockout to get that chemistry going. Brunner also signed on the play for the Wings, not GR, which is why when the lockout was announced, he went back to EV Zug. Don't be surprised to see a top 6 of Franzen-Dats-Nyquist, Brunner-Z-Flip. That would finally be some of the youth we wanted to see.
-
If you want chemistry, Coliacovo used to play with White in Toronto and is a solid #5/6 pickup. Brendan Smith is a ******* stud. Can't wait to see him up full time. Brunner is leading the Swiss league with 2 NHL'ers on each team...take that for what it's worth to you guys, but i'm impressed. Nyquist should be up and in the top 6 so there's some youth injection and a young pair of legs. Franzen may not get bored with a shorter season so he won't be sleeping come playoff time. And the biggest thing of all, there is only 48 games, which historically the Wings players get injured about 20 games before playoffs. Health is always the biggest concern for a usually older Wings team. Lastly, with Lids retiring, maybe that sparks Kronner to be the #1 guy and come out of the shadows of guys like Lids and Rafalski and show the league what he's made of, and maybe everyone takes more defensive responsiblity knowing that Lids isn't back there to save the day.

What Happened to Realignment?
Z Winged Dangler replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
Either way you look at it, Winnipeg should be in a division with probably Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Minnesota. I hated the idea of 4 divisions cause it doesn't split the teams up fairly. it should remain as 6 divisions but realignment needs to be brought back to the table asap for next season. look at a map and you'll see how ridiculous it is that the Jets are still in the South East or something like that when they are actually Norty West on a map, or Central North. -
Why are there so many people on here guessing that players that just signed with teams will be bought out? What kind of sense would that make? Hey....we just signed you to fill a deficiency, but we changed our mind cause our GM knows not what he's doing. Why waste the time in the first place signing a guy then? And in many cases, with the fact that there's been 12 out of 30 teams allegedly recording profits, some teams may not be able to afford to buy out contracts and sign others under the newer cap. Depending on how deep teams can reach into revenue sharting to bandage their mistakes. I'm by no means a big Franzen fan, but if you have 2 quick defensively responsible forwards like Dats and Nyquist on with him then he should earn his 4 mil with about 25 goals in 48 games. He just needs to get his fat ass in shooting position and then it won't seem so bad when he waits for his linemates to do the rest.

Such as Nyquist, Andersson, Sheahan, Jurco, lets throw Brunner in there....as you said, no room and too many guys that can do better.

Quit giving yourself nicknames....you're just Cory.
