I think they'll be pretty close. I forgot he's gonna be a rookie though, good pick up. why the hell don't these millionaires just start playing already?!?!
-
i just saw that too. Seemed like yesterday he was in the WHL. 28....same age as me and i couldn't imagine getting this news. is there even a cure?

You can add in Sheahan as the 13th forwards for games in Canada once he gets deported for being "super drunk" and driving On a serious note, I'm in the group of people that is not worried about our D. Ericsson is becoming the shutdown Dman that Stuart used to be and Smith is a future star. Don't care what anyone else thinks....kid is gonna win the Calder when hockey starts next season. We have more young forwards to keep the energy up and some of the best 2-way forwards in the NHL. Coliacovo is a solid addiiton especially if he holds up the 3rd pairing. I was actually very excited to see the Wings play this year. If they stay healthy, not losing guys like Helm and Fil for stretches and keep some line chemistry, the boys could go deep in the playoffs and contend.

I read the article that popped up on TSN yesterday and also saw the part where Sheahan was dressed as the purple Teletubby Tinky Winky and just about laughed myself stupid. i think at one point my heart stopped.... As dumb as a decision as he made, at least he has a ridiculous Halloween story to tell the kids and let's be serious, that's funny stuff. If he crashed, he'd have lots of padding

That's the exact thing I was talking about with my dad a couple days ago. Ted Lindsay started the NHLPA because guys were getting injured and getting dumped by their teams and they were paying for their own moves when they got traded from team to team and the last straw for Lindsay was when an old teammate of his died in his car after he got cast from the team due to injuries. The union was brought in to give the players their HUMAN RIGHTS, not to make it so they can use things like decertifying the union to take the cowards way out of the lockout and try to basically scam the owners, which will tie the lockout up in court and we'll be lucky to see hockey next year let alone this year. I'd love to hear what Terrible Ted has to say about decertification. Maybe a pioneer of the game that used to make $7,000 per year to be one of the greats can talk some sense into the millionaires. I've been on the players side from the beginning, but i'll lose the players respect if they decertify the union that's given them so much over the years.

Our D may surprise you if a season ever starts. And with younger forwards added into the mix that have younger legs to backcheck it'll help a lot with positioning in the defensive zone.
-
And to add to your point... The Wings are currently front runners to scoop up Dan DeKeyser after this season is over (who apparently has comparable skill level to Justin Schultz, who is tearing up the AHL) and have drafted VERY well the past few years. If you want a Matt Carle type guy, wait a year or 2 and we'll have Ryan Sproul. Bryan Allen, wait for Xavier Oulette, who has a comparable play style with more offense as people have mentioned. Want another big bruiser on the blueline, McKee should make his way up quickly. 4 years from now our D could be: Kronwall-Smith McKee-Dekeyser Sproul-Ericsson/Quincey Oulette But we're all so spoiled from the moves Kenny made over the years to make/keep the Wings a powerhouse that we can't wait a couple years to be the front runner for the Cup again with the guys he drafted.

I truly hope that Rogers Sportsnet doesn't get CBC's hockey rights. Rogers can take their local blackouts and shove them up Roger Millions peehole. It's not Saturday Hockey Night in Canada without Coach's Corner and CBC. If that changes, Hockey Night in Canada will lose it's tradition along with it's name that won't follow to Sportsnet. Just like the Wings fans not being allowed to toss octopi on the ice before Wings playoff games, this is another NHL tradition that cannot be cast aside.

Gotcha. I wish like hell I had a WHL team in Winnipeg. We just got the Jets back and then......LOCKOUT!!! And i can't find anywhere to stream EV Zug games. All lockout and no NHL hockey make Z Winged Dangler crazy! Well, make sure you get out to as many Q games as you can dude. I love the CHL.
-
You military? I gotta drive almost 2 hours up to Brandon to see WHL these days or keep my eyes open for CHL games on Shaw's cable channel. Any teams near Charlettown? Frk looks like he's gonna be a hell of a player. Kinda reminds me a little of Patrick Sharp from what i've seen. Should be at the WJC for sure.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=406261 Nice to see that some of the players still care about the fans and despite not having NHL games scheduled, they are still putting on a show for the fans that have been paying their salaries for so long. Kudos to the guys that are putting on the tourney in Montreal.

Report: Prospect Tvrdon out for season, reported blood clot in arm

This news is terrible. This will surely hurt a prospect that looks to have a very bright future. Hope he gets well sooner than expected and laces 'em back up. -
For Fun.. Most Hated Players lineup

I also hate your team. I'll copy yours and change a couple things for mine...seems easier. J.Thornton-Crosby-Kesler Burrows-H.Sedin-D.Sedin Doan-Pavelski-Setoguchi Ribeiro-Lapierre-Cooke -Talbot/Radulov/Torres/Smyth/Kunitz/Hudler Pronger-Bieksa Orpik-Letang Gill-Subban Fleury Luongo Good to know we can hate on the same D-bags for the most part once hockey starts again! -

A couple guys to add to Manitoba: Alexander Steen Mark Stone Eric Fehr for the bounce-back -
That's some funny stuff right there. Really he should have just left his car at home if he was gonna go for a night out on the town and cabbed it.
-
Not sure how much you've seen Nyquist play, but he's the closest thing we have to a future Zetterberg, and that's from a huge Z homer. Nyquist is still getting his feet wet...gotta give him a couple years with the Wings to bulk up and he'll make his presence felt. Kronwall was 165 pounds or something absurd like that when he was a rookie.
-
We don't even have a captain currently, and our expected captain is in Switzerland. Lets blame Mike Babcock this time. The coach is supposed to tell the boys not to drink and drive in the off-season. I guess this offseason just went a little too long for some to hold out on a little stupidity.

Petr Mrazek making some noise with his start in GRR
Z Winged Dangler replied to evilzyme's topic in General
Howard's rebound control was atrocious up until a couple years ago and then he broke out and look at him now. Definitely see a future just as bright for Mrazek. His quickness is phenominal as well from all the times i saw him play. -
That's why some of us want to let some of our 3rd/4th liners go and bring up young, big and fast players like Sheahan and Andersson to take care of the banging and crashing. If we have skilled guys like Brunner and Nyquist in the top 6 where they belong and we have Sheahan and Andersson in the bottom 6 with the likes of Helm, Tootoo, Abdelkader, Eaves and Bertuzzi I guess. Your top 6 is Nyquist-Dats-Franzen and Flip-Z-Brunner and that's a pretty solid forward unit. Then that takes care of skill, toughness, speed and that will win lots of games as well cause of the amount of responsible 2-way forwards on that team.
-
Not just the events, but the players also lose years of their careers and primes. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are now short about 100 career NHL points due to the lockout. Teemu Selanne could in all reality have over 700 goals now and over 1500 points. I barf in my mouth as I type this, but Crosby and Ovechkin both had their rookie season delayed a year and lost likely 100 points each to the last full season lockout, and Crosby is "healthy" again and could potentially get 120 points this year with a full season. Nyquist and Smith should be rookies on the Wings roster. Brunner should be on Z's line on the Wings along with Filppula. We have a good backup goalie to alleviate pressure on Howard this year. Tootoo hits and forechecks, nuff said. The Wings are without a captain cause the season hasn't started. The list goes on....Winter Classic. And if there's another year without the Stanley Cup rewarded, the NHL will have a hard time recovering especially in the US. And after their first cup win in history, the Kings don't even get the hounour of defending their crown.

How is it the Leafs fault that they make boat loads of money and the Glendale taxpayers pay millions to keep a team that they don't support anyways? The NHL just needs to leave Phoenix. Why should the Leafs pay any more to revenue sharing than the next team? If they have more profitable teams paying more than others then there needs to be a hierarchy in the NHL where the owners with the most profit have more pull than the owners of teams who can't afford to pay their players and have to give tickets away to get people to the games cause no one will show up otherwise. There is a lockout because there are too many non-hockey markets in the NHL. And why should the rich owners pay the salaries and other costs for teams? Personally, I think revenue sharing is complete BS. That's like Coke giving money to Pepsi cause they can't afford to pay for bottles to put their drink in, but they still want to sell pop....
-
They're probably both being tight lipped so nothing gets said to reporters that can be taken out of context and hamper negotiations. It seems that they're tired of the back and forth jabs via the media and actually want to play hockey. Also, when you cancel a Winter Classic with 2 of the wealthiest teams that pay a great deal toward the revenue sharing and the broke assed 7-8 owners are the reason the NHL is locked out, it's time for the big dogs to step forward and say eff that Buttman....we want our game with over 100K people. Get it done!

The Mayans didn't have leap years in their calendar. The world by their estimate should have ended 6 months ago or so. Unleash the next prophesy.
