I'm on the players side on most parts, but if there's only 11 out of 30 teams in the NHL making a profit then maybe the cap needs to be lowered from 71 mil to about 65 mil to start. The only reason the salary cap has been rising since it was brought in is because of the revenue of those 11 teams turning profits keeping the rest afloat with revenue sharing. The Jets sold out pretty much every game last year and have a 5 year wait list for season tickets, but apparently lost $5mil last year... Granted we have the smallest building in the league here, but that's still not a good sign. If 3000 seats could be added to the MTS Centre, then there would be 12 out of 30 teams turning a profit, but at the same time, if the cap was lowered to $65mil with a modest 7% or so salary roll back then we could see up to 20+ teams turning profits. The unfortunate thing for some of the NHL teams is that they're in markets that just don't have enough interest in hockey on the whole. Atlanta failed twice, Florida, Columbus, NY Islanders and the worst of all...New Jersey Devils. 3 Stanley Cup championships since 1995 and they still have a mediocre at best fanbase. Guess they can't compete with the Braves, Falcons and Nets. 4 major sports teams in 1 city and they support all teams but the one that actually wins championships. This is where the NHL is failing. It's nice to have a dream of teams all the way across North America, but the southern expansion is killing the NHL cause of lack of interest, and at the end of the day Gary Bettman will be known for 2 things and that is the lockout hat-trick and a failed pipedream of southern expansion.

I don't know if this is money related or what the deal is but between him playing seasons playing for Moose Jaw, I ended up seeing Dustin Boyd at the bar and I was the one buying the rounds cause he got paid $92 every 2 weeks. I laughed at him pretty good and told him in a couple years he'd be making 20x the amount of money I do... I scanned the article quickly and didn't see much about the money, but I like the education part. That is something that should be concentrated on for young guys. I really hope that they don't increase the wages for the guys too much, maybe up to $100-$200 per week so they have money for movies and entertainment, but the last thing we need to see is an increase in ticket prices. I have to drive to Brandon to see a WHL game and that already costs $40 ish in gas + $25-$30 for tickets and that's about what i can afford these days going to about 1 per year. CHL is some of the best hockey to watch though. Hopefully this union thing works out and benefits the players and the league.

Rumour has it there's only 8 episodes in this season which leaves us 3 or 4 more and then the show is over completely, as is Weeds and CSI Miami and Vegas. I never thought about the watch that Jesse gave Walt, but it makes sense that it could be tampered with.

I'm banking on our top 6 still being the PP with Brunner and Gus included in that. I'm thinking that if Sammy's on the PP, he will be on the point and I don't see Bert taking the spot of a person that can contribute more on the PP at this stage of his career. The only thing i may add to this is that i don't see Tootoo being paid $2mil to be a 13/14th guy. He should be on the 4th line for sure. I'm thinking that Miller will be a tweener like Meech used to be. A healthy Eaves could jam things up too. If we're gonna see the likes of Tatar, Sheahan, Andersson or especially Jurco, then probably 2 forwards need to be traded. Axe...Emmy will not see a single game in a wings "outfit" this year.

The NHL and NHLPA should have started meeitngs throughout the year governed by Bettman to hash out a new agreement prior to 1 Jul 12. This in turn would have the CBA renew, not expire and then teams could go into July 1st without being blindfolded by "what could be" with a new CBA. Procrastination is the main cause of this pending lockout. The initial proposal should have been mandated by the NHL side to be presented 1 Oct 11 with at least quarterly meetings during the season until the new CBA is signed. With only 2 guys on the NHLPA still in the playoffs come SCF, there is no reason that the rest of the NHLPA cannot be involved in meetings, and the meetings can even be held in the city that the game is being played in. Not getting what is so hard about starting negotiations more than a couple months prior to expiry...

Hitz Pro was awesome, as was Hitz 03 aside from the cover. Jimmy was bumped up post-production to an 89 overall. When NHL12 came out I think he was an 85 overall. Not sure how he got worse being top 10 in almost every statistic for goalies, but that's EA for you. I'm sure Vancouver and Pittsburgh will be rated 96 overall each...

If for no other reason than to show the fans that they still have hope there will be hockey this year, or at the very least broadcast the tournament so we have some hockey. And what if there is a season?

I like where your head is at on this one. I'll be going on the EA Formus later if I remember and posting a topic about holding A (Xbox) or X (PS3) to tie up a guys stick. Great idea.

I'm with you on this one. As much as the Wings apparently dislike Buttman, they should have kept the tourney on schedule and kept it business as usual as though there's a season on the way, not play into Buttman's hand and basically concede to a lockout starting from the bottom at the Prospect Tournament.

Last years demo wasn't too bad, but the slap shots were kind of off. Once the game came out and was 100% finalized, the first version was really good. The gameplay was actually pretty good. The problem is that all the little glitch artists complain online that they can't do their move from NHL11 and whine about everything that made NHL12 seem more like playing actual hockey with less exploits they can do. The thing I really didn't like was every tuner set made the game worse and made the passes less accurate and the deking worse. As long as Rammer doesn't gradually ruin NHL13 like he did 11 and 12, I will enjoy an NHL game for an entire year.

At the same time though, Yandle is not even close to being worth Z. Like Crymson stated, he's the most prolific scorer in the playoffs since the lockout and has a Conn Smythe in that stretch. He's clutch as hell and when Dats goes down if he does, Z goes into beast mode. A lot of guys won't come cheap, but like i've been saying the past 6 weeks, our guys also have value. You can't just go after one guy like Yandle and say, oh, you guys can have Flip, Nyquist and Smith cause Yandle just doesn't come around everyday but our 3 guys sure do...

With the AI putting the dmen in the right places and the goalie anticipation and huge upgrades you should see barely any of that crap online now. Maybe we'll finally get rewarded for playing real hockey, making real hockey plays and cycling the puck. All the kids that try to dangle through the teams will have a harder time this year cause seemingly poke check will actually....well, poke check. Demo is online tomorrow and i can't wait to mess around with it. I'm getting the special edition just cause it'll look badass with my 90 or so hockey game collection, but the HUT stuff is getting annoying. Give me free NHL moments add-ons for the year instead of HUT which is the worst game mode by far cause you take 20 minutes just to finally get into a game with someone cause everyone quits before it starts and then you can only get games against guys with 95 ratings across the board.

can you not install games on a ps3? i have a ps3 but i almost never use it. i would have to assume that somehow you can install it on the hard drive.

Physiotherapy currently for my pre season training. Then hockey on the 17 Wing Base hockey team, which is usually followed by more physiotherapy. Next year I will probably be playing sledge hockey with you if my rash of injuries doesn't stop. Sledge hockey looks like a blast. best of luck in your league Dimaline.

I'm pretty sure that if there's no season, you're gonna see a lot of NHL players playing NHL13 online. That'll keep them sharp. I will be their friends as well unless they're Cansucks or Waddling s*** Birds. The thought of not having hockey this year is making me lose it if you guys haven't noticed.

When i see guys get plastered through the glass i always think of Stone Cold's theme song done by Disturbed...Glass Shatters. Guys that don't get up and are woozy as all hell....please play anything but Chumbawumba!

Anyone who has freezing issues, rip the game to your hard drive. You will notice that you have about 1000% less freezing. It will take about half hour or so to put the game on your hard drive but it's worth it cause the hockey games are way too big now not to put on there. Anyone who doesn't know how to do this (for XBox 360): From the dashboard and the home part, go onto the game as if you were going to play it. You'll notice that if you press X for game details it will go to the next screen and you select Install. Then you just wait for the 100% and away you go. NHL 13 looks like it's gonna be sick. The main things i hated last year was the puck control and deking took a step back. Overall the game got worse again since 2010 which is still the overall best one. I hate it when you're playing too and you go to do a quick pivot to go the other way or to stop and go around a guy quick and your guy blows a tire. This year i can't wait to mess around with the NHL moments. Seems kinda cool. Definitely gonna pump the Habs with the Jets (my 2nd favourite team, of course light years behind the Wings...they never left me) and if it gives you the option to wreck Crosby's "epic return from injury" I will definitely rip his ugly head off. One last thing. The player ratings get updated a couple times during the year, so as someone said earlier, Nyquist will get tweaked, as will Smith, Brunner and Eaves will get in there. For guys like Flip, Howard and the guys mentioned....they should be higher. As for the fighters and all the other stuff with overall ratings, the scrappers have high 90's for toughness, strength, fighting, etc which inflates their overall. What EA needs to do is make certain percentages for the overall rating. Like fighting has 1% of the overall rating while offensive and defensive awareness have 7% each. That would better rate the players going by things that are more important to overall use of a player.

I choose both.

My prediction was 18 and 34 for 52 pts. Let's hope there's a full season...

Guilty...I fit in with the bolded part. My feelings are still very hurt when thinking about the lockout hat-trick though. The only thing that makes me feel any better is that I will have witnessed 1 more Red Wings Cup win than lockout....4-3.
