Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

Jesus Christ....of course Cougar likes your 100% negative post toward the Wings. Aren't they in the works of making a new arena? And when you lose your franchise player and you still have guys like Dats, Z, Kronner and young guys like Smith, Nyquist and Brunner around to insert some youth and energy into the lineup, you're not doing too bad. The media is playing s*** up so hard about the Wings saying their dynasty is over and they're no longer a preferred destination... then why do guys want to come back after they lose for a couple years with a crap team and why do guys that lead other leagues in points want to come here...more than once and why does DeKeyser apparently want to sign with the Wings after he finishes school next year? Call yourself a real Wings fan and post garbage that Wild fans are gonna like....come on dude. Have at least a little faith in a team that has the longest playoff streak in sports history and who between 1997 and 2008 gave us 4 Stanley Cups.

What Should Be Addressed in the New CBA?

I agree with you completely. I was stating that there should be more of a compromise from the players at least to begin with. They are well over 50% if i'm not mistaken.

Behind Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk of course.

What Should Be Addressed in the New CBA?

    1. Max term a player can sign for is 6 years. 2. No front loading contracts. A player signs 4 years, $20 mil then it's $5mil/year period. 3. A team can dip into revenue sharing no more than $10 mil. If they need more assistance than that, relocate or shed salary. 4. No sending bad Huet contracts to Europe or the AHL to get rid of the cap hit. 5. Base salary contract should be implemented with performance bonus. Have a guy signed at $1 mil and he gets money based on stats, games played and PK % and things like that which can be worked into a contract. With this type of contract there's a starting point with a max amount that the player can make and the GM would have to have cap space to cover the max incentives. 6. Gary Bettman is sent to Afghanistan for reasons unknown to the public, but we have it on good authority that he is not happy with his situation. Forgot about 1 thing. The player/owner percentage should be 50% each. The owner still has to pay the rest of the staff as well, and pay to run the rink and all the bills included in that. The players just have to pay their agents. And without the owners, these players don't get paid millions to PLAY HOCKEY FOR A LIVING!
  5. The shots won't all be from the side boards Wings style like when Rinne had Suter and Weber in front of him. Think more Klein (actually really like this kid) and Ellis Pretty sure Nashville as a franchise can't afford to match cause of the 50+ million in the first 4 years. As for the picks, they will be in the high 20's for all 4 of the years that Philly would be giving up the picks. So Nashville may have a shot at the draft lottery all 4 years, but beyond that, they will most likely get picks around 5, 25, 35. While nice to have 3 picks in the top 35, to get a Weber type, you want to get more picks in the top 15 or so.

    Peer pressure is a *****
  7. haha....at least the preds may win some faceoffs this year. boo-yah!
  8. Offer Hasek a 1 year deal. At 47, I'd still take him over Bryz-by-the-goal-line...he's F'n terrible.
  9. Lids retired over 40 years old and Stuart left for family reasons. Suter left for family reasons, but also for what will be greener pastures. and their D just got better when they signed Matt Dumba to his entry level. Weber is leaving to go to a legit contender and is worth the 4 late 1st round picks it'll cost. Radulov left cause he's a D bag and wants nothing more than money and would rather play apparently anywhere but Nashville. Rinne will hang himself next year with only Klein infront of him doing anything useful, though opposing forwards will have a rather easy time ripping right down the middle and putting shots on him from not the outside. Ryan Ellis is a little ***** and will get crushed by a big forward and his career will be short. Nashville will not make the playoffs this year, so they better draft well with their 3 picks a year that will be within the first 40 picks. Best of luck Poile.

    Top 2013 UFA's

Or they'll be offered 13-14 year deals by someone before the new CBA is brought in Now that Weber's fate for the next 14 years will be decided in 7 days or less, the cornerstone of next offseason is gonzo. Still some great names there, but yes, once they start negotiating and signing with their teams, Holland may have to sift through table scraps again. Hopefully there's a couple big names that "want a change of scenery".

With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?

On top of that he's a hilarious dude and would be great in the locker room. It's always fun having a class clown that improves morale during s*** skids.

I'd take Hartnell in a heartbeat if he'd re-sign with the Wings right away cause he's UFA next summer. Or get Holmgren to negotiate a contract with Hartnell for the sole purpose of a sign and trade to the Wings so the deal is secure on this end.

    Top 2013 UFA's

I'd like Getzlaf, Edler and Hartnell. Back up plan, Zajac, Iginla and Whitney. Troy Brouwer I always thought would look good in a Winged Wheel as well.

    Does Babcock walk?

Also, Holland seemed pretty high on Brunner. And if Yandle comes here, he's #2 behind Kronwall. Weber would be #1, but Kronner is still more valuable than Yandle. He's been in mid to high 30's in pts since 2007 and had 51 pts a few years ago and has never really got playing time with Lids, so all of this is on the 2nd D pairing. There's a lot of potential this year and Babcock also really likes Smith and Nyquist so he's got some good young talent to work with. No way he bolts.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

We can't get Loui Eriksson to play with him and Z. Flip will have to do

Exactly...i'd like to see people's list of teams that are apparently gonna finish ahead of the Wings in the West. The Wings are still a great team and we lost the best Dman ever. Top to bottom right now, this is still a playoff team. Our young guys could come in and play lights out and there could be a deep playoff run. The past 3 years, the Wings have been skating band-aids. You don't stay healthy, you don't go far. Personally, i can't wait to see this Wings team play.
  17. I agree with both of your statements, but just in case they limit the years on contracts and squash front loading, it's a good move by Holmgren. Poile may not be able to match the contract cause of the amount front loaded, it may bankrupt the Preds....lol at the Preds. With only Klein as the Preds good Dman left, we'll see just how good Rinne is when guys on the other teams walk right down the middle of the ice.
  18. Good timing if you're Holmgren I guess cause the new CBA is gonna s*** can the lifetime contracts and apparently get rid of front loading and make it so your cap hit is the same every year. So i've heard... and i really hope that it happens.
  19. That's sorta what i was thinking if the Preds don't match. They'll have 8 1st round picks in the next 4 years and in this "new NHL" that's a good starting point to rebuilding toward a contender. the only problem though is you see a trend that high profile players apparently don't want to play in Nashville. Radulov (dickhead), Suter, and now Weber signs with a team that with him added, even at the cost of 4 1st rounders, they are a legit contender. The Preds will have to hope that all their picks in the 1st round are good cause they're gonna need them.

    Red Wings re-sign Quincey: 2-years, $7.55m total, $3.775/yr

I really hope he bounces back and has a really solid season. Paired with Ericsson could be good as big E is getting a lot better defensively and could be a nice big man pairing that could be hard to play against and both guys have pretty hard clappers.
  21. I agree with everyone that said Nashville will match the offer. They have no other really good/star players aside from Rinne and they would be stupid not to do this. I have no idea why an offer sheet for that term would even be put out by the Flyers and why Weber agreed to it knowing full well that the Preds can match and keep him there for the rest of his playing career if they want and he won't have the freedom that Suter so enjoyed this year of being able to sign wherever he pleases. That's why Kenny didn't put out any offer sheet for Weber....Nashville would have to match or see Weber kill them 6 times a year. Just a big pile of dong if you ask this guy.

We can still win it all THIS season, but...

Who is Trade ? Is he good. $3mil seems steep for a guy named Trade

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response

Nyquist is much better than Tatar, hence he's had more NHL games and outscored Tatar in less games in GR. Jarnkrok is gonna be really good, but needs to add weight and isn't quite as good as Gus. Jurco did jack in the memorial cup and has been trapped behind Huberdeau and Coyle on the Sea Dogs. As much as i like the other 3 guys, they don't have the potential that Nyquist has. Trading him is a very stupid idea. Another thing no one mentions is that CBJ has a crap system and they miss the playoffs annually cause of it. Nash comes to Detroit and has to play defence too and his point production probably won't get much better cause as you can see in Columbus, he doesn't waste much energy playing D.
