The only things I fear with regards to Parise and Suter is that usually with Holland, no one gets more than Dats/Lids. If Lids comes back at 6+ mil then the plan is f***ed. If he takes the 1.2 mil Yzerman discount for the final year, we're in busuness. If the Dats salary comes into play, which is what...6.7 mil? Then if Parise and Suter are both offered 6.7 mil/year for 5 years to contend for the cup all 5 years then would they be smart to turn it down for an extra 1 mil a year to play for a crap team like the Wild? Hopefully some players still play for the real prize... If Holland gets Lids for 1.5 even and Parise and Suter for 7 mil each, then there's still room left to get Helm re-signed for 2 mil/year and Prust for the same. That would make for a pretty damn good line-up. Stuart, Hudler and Homer are gone and Smith/Nyquist are up full time. This is also assuming that Prust will leave the Rangers...

The best fit for the Wings needs is Parise and Prust. Sign Suter if possible. Any other potential signings do not hold the value these 3 do. Doan and Perry will re-sign with their current teams.

I can't wait for July 1st! I want to see what Kenny thinks we need and then see if I need to puke... Lets put it this way, we need Parise and Suter. 1 would be good, neither would be unf***ingexceptable. Parise won't get a huge pay raise cause he missed almost all of last year and then got 69 points this year. At most he gets 7 mil and if there's a chance that Kenny can sign both him and Parise to play together for 6.5 or 7 each, pull the ******* trigger. If we don't have enough money to sign 14 3rd and 4th liners this year, then Griffins can be called up for the annual injury parade.

i agree with every assessment aside from Hudler. he constantly dragged down the Z-Flip combo and had a career year riding their coat tails. if he was twice as fast as he currently is, he would be more useful to the Wings and that line in particular and would actually be worth re-signing. aside from Huds, that was a very good read and well assessed. Nyquist is the future...I know one guy who agrees. And Smith will be a beast next year and we will no longer miss Stuart and his giveaways and absolutely horrific display in the playoffs this year. Loved him, but he can have fun in Cali with his family, who was clearly the first thing on his mind but can't blame him. best of luck to him.

We'll see if Holland botches his chance at redemption for the past few years of crap and overpaying Ericsson by 2 mil this summer. I think judging by the saying "what have you done for me lately", he can't keep riding his pre-cap reputation of building greatness. The stars drafted and developed by the Wings take a discount to stay there and he's lucky lately they do.

With all the topics about free agent signings and bringing in new talent, there's 2 gems the Wings already have in their system that could heavily compliment guys like Parise and maybe Suter coming in. Gustav Nyquist and Brendan Smith, both top 6/4 in their respective positions. How nice would it be to see Gus play in the top 6 and Smith play with Kronner next season and see 2 Wings compete for the Calder Trophy next season? Just thought I'd bring a little positive reinforcement into a time when we're all feeling pretty crappy about only seeing 1 on the playoff wins this year. Some could even add Tatar into the mix, but i see the other 2 as a level higher than Tatar. Thoughts?

That star spark was definitely there for the first 9-10 games where he got his 7 pts until Babcock went Leino on his ass and plugged him on the 4th line for the rest of the games with Emmerton and Homer. He's more suited playing with higher talent like Dats and Z.

I voted yes, but this post makes complete sense. I was hoping that Tatar would replace Hudler and Emmerton would be gone as well as Mursak possibly being moved or kept purely as a 13th depth fwd.

Brandon Prust. He's tough son of a ***** that can actually play. He'd be great on the 3rd line with Bert/Helm or Eaves/Helm depending on which way the wind is blowing that day.

Smith played great for the Wings when he was up so hopefully we see more of that. Gus had what?...7 points in his first 9 games before he got plugged into the 4th line and couldn't get a bounce and didn't play with much skill for the rest of his time. We'll see next year if he's properly used by Babcock cause he's got tons of potential and is ready for the top 6 now.

So i guess the Penguins over the Canucks in 15 games in the SCF is now out of the question?

This offseason is Parise or bust. He's the main piece that the Wings need, and the D hinges on Lids decision. Suter would be nice, but we'll see what happens with Nashville. Maybe he'll just re-sign there... Parise would fit perfectly on the top line with Dats and Gus.

Z played hard every night and was great, but the other 2 watched him go on numerous rushes by himself against a great preds D. as Babcock said, Dats had NO help. Flip got no bounces and Hudler got 2 lucky goals and should board a plane with Radulov. Franzen was lazy and he sucks so his "playoff beast" label has been removed. Jimmy was really good, but when your team makes pathetic turnovers and plays timbit hockey in the defensive zone, you can't react that quick to every bad bounce they cause. Stuart can have fun in LA, he didn't show up for playoffs cause his bags went to california... Cleary actually played hard, but other than that brought nothing to the table. Babcock could have done a little more with what he had rather than just make excuses. Holland didn't help, but you can't be afraid to call up fresh legs and bench guys that just plain sucked.

They made an example out of a cheap shotting head hunting piece of garbage who is the very definition of repeat offender. Now guys on opposing teams don't have to worry about the 1 guy on the Yotes that tries to decapitate every person he hits when he leaves his feet whilst in kill mode. I've never liked Torres and am glad the league made an example out of him.
