Targeted the head and hit from behind...should have been more like 5 games. I use the garbage suspension on Brendan Smith in the pre-season as a basis for every s*** suspension Shanaban does or does not hand out these days.

If there was any way to get rid of Cleary, i'l love to see it happen. Bring up Tatar and Nyquist full time for sure. Tatar would ultimately replace Hudler. Faster and grittier. Stuart won't be back and will be replaced by Smith. Go hard after Parise and then Suter. The lack of finish on the team this year is unsettling. Eaves coming back healthy next year will be a big boost. He is much better and more effective than Abdelkader, whose uses are diminishing. He's a 4th liner and won't meet his projections as a 2-way fwd that will get 30-40 points. He's plateau'd. Keep Miller as a 4th liner cause he's been really good this year despite being a very soft player. He's good on the cycle and can put the puck in the net and still be responsible defensively. Emmerton is not NHL calibre. Sorry kiddo. If the Wings don't make it past the 1st round, it may be time to cut Babcock loose. Find a guy who can take a skilled line up and make 4 lines that gel so he doesn't have to start throwing out randoms with Dats and Z and sit 1 1/2 lines in the 3rd period. Holland should be on a short leash too cause in the "what have you done for me lately league"....what has he done to make the Wings better and more of a contender in the past few seasons? What happened to the Wings great depth at centre then? I know Helm is out, but having Dats and Z on the same line shouldn't kill the lineup.

Time to rejuvenate this thread after seeing the offence in game 1. Emmerton isn't good enough to play in the 3rd, put someone in the line-up who is. Hudler and Cleary both have zero offensive creativity, whereas Nyquist does. He needs to take Hudler's spot on the Z-Flip line, cause those 2 played great and once again, Hudler hindered that line.

he should get 2-3 games for a blatant "head hit" but we'll see if they even look at it. we'll see if Shanny still has his by the book conviction in the post season or if he bails when it actually matters.

that's exactly what i was thinking. for Cleary, why the hell didn't he get his knee fixed when it first started bugging him? he's been terrible this season cause he's always injured. if we can go without Dats for a month to get his knee fixed, we can go without Cleary for however long he needs. i think it's irresponsible on both parts, Cleary and the Wings med staff to even let the guy lace up the skates with the problems he has. and he's for damn sure no Stevie Y! he doesn't win a conn smythe on 1 leg, he helps the Wings get knocked out in the 2nd round again because they don't ice "the best Wings team possible"

that's the final 4 i want to see so i'm good with that. if the Wings go that far i'd like to see them beat the B's 4-3 as opposed to the above outcome.

it all depends on if Lids hangs em' up and how much Parise and Suter want. Holland refuses to overpay players to build contenders (aside from overpaying Ericsson) and another main thing with Holland is he won't go out and blow the bank on unproven players. Parise and Suter are very proven, so there's no risk and a high reward to getting both on the roster. our top 6 becomes sick as all hell with Parise in place of Hudler and Nyquist in the top 6 with a summer of weights and condition with the big club under his belt. Seems like a winning line-up to me.

Parise - Dats - Franzen Nyquist - Z - Flip Tatar - Helm - Bertuzzi Eaves - Abdelkader - Miller Cleary's broken legs as numero 13 One can only hope... i didn't get to the 2nd page before i hit the reply button, but it seems we have the same idea for the most part on the top 3 lines. I was actually going to put what you had at first. and the 3rd line we came up with seems pretty deadly. Tatar should definitely replace Hudler. Huds had a good year, but loses a lot of puck races and generally can't keep up.

Smith got 5 games in the pre-season for a hit that shouldn't have warrented a suspension. Wings are far from untouchable unless you ask fans of certain teams...

When the NHL playoffs end, i cancel the cable and i can no longer play hockey on 1 tv and watch it on the other. In the NHL offseason, i just play an excessive amount of NHL online, thus, i do not believe there is an offseason for hockey...just a summer holiday for the players.

Agreed 100%. i want homer to retire more than most people on here, but in his day he's been a great Wing and even had his 30 goal season, but to call him out on a public internet poll....where's the professionalism in that. i agree with 55fan that i hope his family doesn't see that and it's a s***ty way to go out being called out like that on MLive. it's different having threads on here cause it's team discussion with all Wings fans, but something that public is just a bad call by someone at MLive.

and being a former team mate of Brendan Smith, ther'll be instant chemistry and a possible future right handed linemate for Smith. Wouldn't be a bad signing at all if they can get their hands on him.

Fact of the matter is the Wings suck balls on the road and need home ice advantage to at least make it out of the 1st ******* round. Howie should play the Preds for sure to try and beat them in A 4 POINT GAME! and then put Conklin's useless ass back in the game following. For such a smart guy (Babcock) he's really suckin' farts right now with his decision making. Play Howie against the Preds and put Nyquist in the top 6. Make Franzenfloat grind it out with Emmerton and Homer. Last night was a joke.
