Steve Yzerman - Pavel Datsyuk - Pavel Bure Nick Lidstrom - Bobby Orr Martin Brodeur Perfect Mix. Not overly tough on D but you're not getting by them...or i'd add Scott Stevens. I wish at any point in time i could have seen Pavel Bure in a winged wheel and imagine him playing on a line with Dats...sickening!

I'm in Italy right now, so I have only been able to watch some highlights and haven't been able to watch any games at all... So my question is, what's with Z's horrifically slow start? 6 games, 2 pts with a goal and an assist and is +1. This is not Z like production. I'm not bashing him, obviously he's my favourite player, so can someone enlighten me as to what i'm missing. Or is it like last year where 5 of the top 10 saves of the year were goalies robbing Zetterberg? The Wings are 5-1, so the team is obviously playing good, but Z's production will be something to worry about if he doesn't start getting points soon. Flip and Mule will not keep the pace they're on for 82 games. Neither will Z, but what do you guys think?

i think that Helm would have a shot at the Selke if he ever got a chance on the 2nd line... or at least the 3rd line with a couple more offensive players on his line. cause we all know, in the NHL in order to be the best defensive forward in the game you have to score at least 30 goals for some stupid reason. that year draper won it...30 goals. why can't it just be for "the best defensive forward"? on topic though...it's good to see ferraro progressing. they should try to convert him to wing and have a line in a couple years of Helm at centre with Mursak and Ferraro. that's a freakishly fast line.

the only thing i like about it is the amount of times the Wings will play the Jets...i will finally get the see my beloved Wings again in Winnipeg!

he's playing like he has something to prove...playing with hunger. he got cut from a WJC team he should have been on. wouldn't that piss you off? i hope he goes on a tear and wins the scoring race. kids got talent, that's for sure.

i'm not gonna hate on bertuzzi aside from all his unnecessary giveaways, but homer on the other hand... there's a difference between "role player" and "one-dimensional" and homer is the latter. i was the one that started the "what's up with Zetterberg" topic purely cause i haven't been able to watch hockey cause i'm not in North America where i can watch it. but with Zetterberg, you expect him to produce around a point a game pace. i've been waiting for homer to hang them up for years. taking places of departed players like leino who can actually hack top 6 play, but was a terrible fit on the bottom 6. tatar and nyquist should definitely be on this team next year. i'm just glad guys like rafalski retired when they realized they couldn't produce at the level they should be at cause they're too beaten up from injuries. homer will play out the rest of the year and he needs to retire in the offseason. i really hope babcock plays "the best players" in the playoffs, and if that means that our 3rd line is tatar/nyquist/mursak to help the wings win the cup, then so be it.

if a goalie leaves his crease he should be fair game. if he's playing the puck, he is effectively a 3rd dman and should be subject to a good crunch now and again. been saying for years if goalies leave the net you should be able to hit them. i say add more hitting to the game instead of whining about every hit thrown and crying suspension.

i agree with you that most of it is cause the wings only play on weekends and have to derp around all week waiting to play a game, but the reason i started this topic was to simply ask everyone what was up with Z, not to call out my favourite player and say he's no good anymore. i'm 100% Z homer, whereas his s*** don't stink to me... the problem is, as i said in the OP, i can't "watch" anything but the 1:30 of highlights, which doesn't tell me much more than who scored, and who the game's suspension candidate is. i will assume like the rest that Z will finish a point per game, but i was just wondering why he wasn't scoring and if maybe his back was acting up again and he's playing injured....again. that's all. Z's the s***. and yes, if cleary can't skate without falling, which happens for a portion of every season with him, take him off the top line and throw holmstrom on there cause you know exactly what he's gonna bring to the table every night.

i started the topic "what's up with Zetterberg?" cause i can't watch hockey until i get back to Canada and i wanted to know the consensus of the LGW faithful about how the team was playing and Z while he doesn't put points up, but EVERYONE on here said Z's just not getting the bounces and that he'll have a couple 3 pt games and everyone will say he's a beast and what not.... but to say that he should be benched, a guy that plays through pain and brings it in more than just putting up points, but shutting guys down and giving it everything he's got every shift and making things happen even when he's not dropping bombs on the scoreboard.....we'll that is just plain ******* stupid. Z's making 6+ mil a season cause he's worth it. you don't bench a SUPERSTAR cause he's not a point a game YET. you switch things up and get s*** going. maybe give Z a Nyquist, whom should be in the NHL, so i back you on the point of the roster spot certainty....but i don't back you at all on benching guys like Z, or even Bert whom if you forget, had a great year last year and has been playing great as a wing since he came back. we're not even 10 games in yet... the consequences with the Wings....we only get a stanley cup to celebrate every 6 years now. really butthurt over that one....guess we'll have to cry ourselves to sleep and trash talk until Nyquist wins the conn smythe in 2014. hang in buddy!

The idea of replacing Cleary with Hudler sounds interesting...either that or give Brunnstrom a shot at some playtime with Dats and Z. Really shake things up to get that line going. In no way, shape, or form do you split a line that's playing as good as Mule, Tuzzi and Flip.

i really hope so. now that i think of it, that's usually what happens for Z as he usually starts the season off slow. i think it was the 07-08 season he started off terribly and then tore s*** right up for 25 games. i was just hoping you guys could tell me what's up and i'm hurting to go home and watch hockey. thanks boys.

not sure why there's so much hate toward this comment...ben smith is just as guilty for putting himself in a vulnerable position. there's no longer any onus on anyone in the NHL to protect themselves...it's all about taking a hit in a vulnerable position to get a call. 5 games is bulls*** seeing as boyes' hit was worse and he got 2 games.....2! sorry shanny, love ya buddy but that's BS.

so judging by Shanny's explanation, smith should get 2 games just like Boyes, if any at all cause i think babcock is right and ben smith put himself in that position.

not a bad signing if you think about it... wellwood is a pretty good playmaker. if the Jets put him on a line with Eric Fehr then Fehr could benefit from Wellwoods passing. Finish that line off with Evander Kane and you have a pretty solid line with Playaker ~ Sniper ~ Power Forward. Anyone who watched Eric Fehr with the Wheat Kings knows he has a kick ass one-timer and a nose for the net and he'll get way more ice time with the Jets than the Caps.

Jets: 1. Selanne 2. Hawerchuk 3. Housley Doan is a ****** bag and belongs nowhere on the list in even top 10 for Jets/Coyotes all time. his career high pts in a season is 78 pts and that's the only time above 70 pts in a season. plus he's a cheap shot artist and a dirty hitter.

I'm pretty much on par with LeftWinger here...dump huds and we're cookin. I don't so much want to see Holland sign another top 6 guy as i'd like to see Tatar and Nyquist get a shot with the wings and have room for maybe Mursak to play and keep Emmerton as the 13/14 fwd. I don't want to see more prospects like Quincey, Ritola and kind of Leino (as he didn't have room for a spot in the top 6) move away to other clubs with no return. personally, i love the current wings minus hudler and would like to see someone work to take his spot. at this point, i don't even care if Holland gets a bag of pucks for him. waive and stick in GR if no one bites.

Crosby was apparently just about "ready to go" late last year and then all that s*** was happening with Matt Cooke and then Mario Lemieux running his flapper about the NHL being bush league and then mysteriously, Crosby is no longer ready to go and will miss the rest of the year and maybe playoffs.... Lemieux made stupid comments and then Matt Cooke destroyed all his credibility and then Crosby's health suddenly took a turn back to the worse...nothing happened there where Lemieux was trying to back up a little and have his franchise player to sit to try and make his previous points valid all the while punishing Cooke for the media...ok. as far as keeping it quiet...every week there's a new article on Crosby as though we're gonna forget his NHL God. they're publicizing every time he takes a painkiller for christ sake. look back on TSN's recent articles for NHL. there's enought to write a book on blindside hits and concussions. and Crosby was doing conditioning the whole time to stay in shape so he could have played anytime he got back to full contact practices. we'll see just how over his career is when he misses maybe the first 5 games this season and is leading the league in points at the 10 game mark of the season with 14 pts in 5 games... the NHL can't afford to lose him. all the bleeding hearts will petition to have hitting removed from hockey if his career is over.

This is very shocking news. I was looking forward to him being the first Jets player to drop the gloves. Watched him as a Regina Pat playing the Wheat Kings and he was impressive then. Then he came to Winnipeg and was one of the only Moose players I gave a s*** about, and then I was pretty excited about him signing with the Jets. Sad to hear about his death. I hope his salary this year is given to his family, or given to a cause that helps deal with depression and helping people through it cause clearly Ripper wasn't the happiest person the past couple years. That's why we keep losing over-agers to other teams licking their chops...good call. not that i'd trade any, but...kindl, tatar, nyquist, almqvist, pulkkinen, jarnkrok, SMITH (how's that for a D prospect f***nuts?) etc... Helm doesn't help the situation? WOW...no explanation needed as to how much of a monkeyf***er this guy is.
