from what i've heard about the kid, he sounds like the making of the next DMac for the wings. here's hoping.

the only point i was making is that 9 times out of 10 they give it to the guy with the most points. but i do agree with you that crosby is the league MVP right now. his linemates are dupuis and kunitz... he doesn't have the luxury of Z and homer/cleary or ******* semin/backstrom. so yes, hes MVP right now, but if dats finishes only 10 points behind him at season's end, he should get the nod for a far superior 2 way game. though crosby's 2 way game is improving drastically year to year. it's actually scary how much better he is now than in his rookie season. but in saying that, i still hope crosby gets injured just before reaching 100 points and is sidelined for the rest of the year and playoffs. why you ask?? just to f*** with pens fans and their stupid asses. those pricks deserve it. yes that's sadistic, but we all are sometimes. i just am toward pens fans.

i can't wait to see nyquist on the top line with dats and Z! i love all the haters that say the wings are f***ed when lids retires. smith is gonna be a beast. almqvist will take rafalski's spot and lashoff sounds like a manimal. tatar will hopefully take a roster spot on the wings soon. not sure where there's room in the next 2 years, but that's not for me to figure out. holland probably gets mad erections when he looks at his prospect pool. hopefully jarnkrok and almqvist tear s*** up at the WJC.

that's pretty cool to see dats getting some credit for his amazing second-to-none 2 way game. unfortunately, in the end, all the voters care about is points and crosby's tear he's on right now, especially with malkin out for part of it will most likely win him the hart. my personal opinion would be dats for the hart and selke and possibly keep the ted lindsay award in hockeytown, but we all know how 2 of those 3 trophys work... i'd like to see Z earn his way into the top 5 too. or have lids win it before he retires even though he should have won it already...

crosby is carrying the pens on his back right now. i hate the pens, but in a way it's fun to watch cause even though i like crosby and he's a great player, i'm 110% hoping he gets injured for about 4 months right at the trade deadline with 99 points. i hope he misses the entire playoffs and then the cap catches up with the pens and they can't afford crosby and malkin and next year crosby comes back and has to keep the same pace cause malkin would be gone for good, not just day to day with injury...end rant/ the wings depts is unbelievable this season. modano gets injured and cleary finds 7th gear. the wings leading goal scorer is on the 3rd line. dats, rafs and lids have been really consistant and it's great to see. Z has been fairly consistant, but has been getting bad bounces here and there, but is still over a point per game. howard has only had a couple sub-par games, but has some lousy team effort factoring in on those games...he's been really good. even ericsson has been really good lately and kronwall is throwing his weight around and hangin on to the puck more and making good plays. washington is gonna lose in the 1st round again when ovie gets frustrated and semin and backstrom disappear like last year when they face a checking line that plays playoff shutdown hockey. as for dallas...they like losing close hockey games, especially in OT. another 1st round exit. the pens may make it to the 2nd round cause of crosby, but wait til malkin gets hit once and calls it in and 1 other good player gets hurt. crosby can't win the cup by himself. add in the inconsistancy in goal this year and you have a recipe for an early exit. and to add to what you said, the wings are the ONLY team in the NHL that is still successful when half way through the game, not 1 line is the same as it was in the starting lineup. the wings are so deep that they can throw their lines in the spin cycle and come back and kick their opponents ass. which is really good for 7 game series'. filppula's lookin better every game too. he's been taking puck retrieval pages out of the book of datsyuk with the takeaways he's been making.

that's right. i forgot about those lame ass panthers and pens jerseys. i hate every pens jersey though... i like the color schemes on some of the jerseys, but i hate the little circle with an even smaller symbol. make the blue jackets jersey the same design aside from the symbol and they're on to something. make the cannon symbol bigger and have the taglines presented on the shoulder or something. cut the lame ass circle s***. man i'm glad when the wings had their winter classic jerseys they had a big ass D on the front. NO CIRCLE!

those jerseys look like last years blues 3rd jersey with a different logo in the circle. they lose marks big time for originality. someone who knows how can feel free to add a big picture of last years blues jersey beside this years jackets jersey.

I know it's early in the season, but as of right now the Leafs are 1st overall. The great thing about that is that they beat the Penguins to get there and the Pens are 13th in the East currently with a 1-3 record And for anyone who hates "Flower" as much as I do, he is 0-3 and he let in 4 goals last night on 14 shots for a whopping 71.4% saves. Go Leafs I guess. Not a fan, but I like it when they beat the Habs and Pens.

sadly i agree with this. hudler has been useless since he got back. modano hasn't done much, but he atleast hustles. as far as putting modano on the 4th line, whatever makes a winning formula. the lines of: abby - helm - cleary eaves - modano - miller actually look pretty good to me. or try switching abby and eaves from time to time.

Kronwall's play so far this year has been completely terrible. That horrid giveaway that cost the wings what may have been a hard, well earned comeback is the last straw. He doesn't hit anymore and he has been terrible with the puck. his mediocre point total and +/- should have him pretty far in babcock's dog house and i hope kindl gets more ice time and kronwall takes a few games off and watches from the press box. rafalski's return can't come too soon. in case any of you would like to know, i've always been a big kronwall fan but this year his play is just plain upsetting.

i knew i'd get flaming for calling out kronner, but i've wathched all but 1 wings game this year, and missed the 1st horrid period last night to pick up the wife, but kronwall has been bad with the puck and giving it away on a regular basis. i sincerely hope he's just recovering from mono or something cause he doesn't look like kronner at all out there. and all the games i watched kindl play, he's been pretty good. he needs more ice time to really progress and maybe he should be paired with kronwall to put a little more pressure on nick to perform better with a rookie sidekick. either way, kronwall has alot more to offer than what he is right now.

nope. not a knee jerk reaction at all and yes i've watched kronwall in his entire tenure as a wing. like i said in the OP, i've always been a big kronwall fan. i'm just in complete disbelief with how bad he's been. he's been regressing badly and i hope he doesn't end up redden 2.0. i think kronner's better than that. but in response to "the mishandling", if that was kindl or ericsson, they're in the press box for sure for multiple games. i think a benching may light a fire under kronwall, and it's something that is much needed.

he's been absolutely terrible. did his dog die or something? cause he's got no edge to his game whatsoever. he seems to have no interest at all. and everytime he rushes in and Z or dats put the puck right on the tape he goes bread basket or misses the net completely. i have never seen him play this bad...EVER!

this pretty much sums it up. in the playoffs, the refs consume alot of "red hate-o-rade". the penguins can thank uncle gary and the refs for their latest cup as well.

the first step to this happening is Bettman getting cut loose by the league. he needs to go for these teams to go. he'll die trying to prove that hockey is viable in southern USA where there may be a handful of hockey fans, but not enough to support an NHL franchise. i don't believe anymore that the Jets will be back here until Bettman is gone and someone without tunnel vision is running the NHL.

ozzy has 1 good game, 1 bad game howard has 1 good game, 1 bad game defense has 2 good games, 2 bad games...anyone seeing a trend here. i'm with you right now. ozzy should be given more than 2 games before we throw him under the bus, and i'm in the group that wants this to be his last season. if our D stops giving the other teams free lanes to the net and screening our goalie for them, we'll see alot more saves.

salary cap...over 35...explained in some other thread. bring this topic back up in june or july when their over 35 contracts are done. then we can talk about how we don't want kenny to re-sign them.

and at the start of the season the players have to get used to playing with new players/returnees....modano, huds, salei, kindl...it's alot higher tempo playing games as a unit than practicing. i won't really judge too much before the 10 game mark, but like i said in the goalie post, someone other than franzen needs to hit the net with a GOOD shot. when my boy Z has a shot from the slot he has to hit the net. he's been great playing with dats, but ******* abysmal when it comes to hitting the net. 2 assists in 4 games is not what we need from Z.

last game against dallas, i watched the first 2 periods and called it quits after the ultra soft 4th goal. the D put forth about 8% effort on the play and so did ozzy. we can't blame it all on the goalie and defense even if every bad bounce in the first 2 periods ended up in the wings net. the biggest issue may not even be the sub par D and goaltending right now...the forwards need to HIT THE ******* NET! Z is my favorite player, but the reason he has a big 0 for goals this season is simple...hit the net. him and dats have had so many chances and they either hit the post or miss the net. dats stole the puck and turned back and hit the cross bar with his shot and the next steal he got led to a partial breakaway and he got poke checked or something. franzen hits the net, but he's injured now...so Z has to bulge the twine already. all in all, the game against dallas was a pathetic showing.

i hope modano nets the GWG!
