Has anyone else noticed how many people on other sites and TSN's Your Call put so much stock in Pre-Season?? It's absolutely hilarious how many people throw the Wings under the bus because they lose pre-season games, and some by more than 3 goals. Don't people know the whole point of NHL pre-season is to match your prospects up against the other teams top talent? That's why teams play back-to-back and have completely different line-ups each night. You need these games to give your prospects and indication of where they need to be at to play against other teams top talent on and NHL roster night in and night out. Just wanted to see what you guys think about the pre-season games and the outlandish comments people make about "teams chances of winning the cup" because of the exhibition performances.

10 games is fair. that's the age difference between cammalleri and neiderreiter the KID! cammalleri only gets one game cause he's a "star player". nice welcome to the NHL by a guy that's supposed to be a class act, but hey, he's a Hab now, so the whole class act thing is out the window. wait for the riot in montreal after his 1 game suspension. colon campbell needs to drop the hammer on cammalleri after that complete bulls*** display. people hate on ovie cause he plays hard, but he would NEVER do anything like that. once again guys in the NHL don't know how to take a clean hit with the shoulder and continue playing hockey instead of cheap shotting a guy for no reason. if these guys can't take a hit and shrug it off, go play ******* soccer.

yup...he's definately the new whipping boy for the wings. my dad called me twice while i was watching Hellyeah at the Rockstar Uproar concert yesterday, while the wings were playing the leafs, to tell me how s***ty ericsson is. kindl will take his spot on the 3rd pairing the 3rd game of the season. i liked ericsson and thought he had potential, but i'm jumping right on the whipping boy bandwagon until he's +15 or more at the end of the year with 20+ points.

i agree with everything you just said. that is why i started this topic, because the fans from other teams are insane if they think the wings are too old and "their team" is more of a legit cup candidate. with comments like "the wings time is done, it's the penguins time now"....look at the "your call" on TSN from the wings/pens pre-season game. priceless. i've already made my prediction and i'm 2 for the last 3 on my pre-season calls... 08 - wings 09 - wings (pens won...barf) 10 - hawks...yup, i called the hawks last year. sorry guys. 11 - i'm calling wings in 6 over Boston this year...yes, Boston. Wings depth now that the hawks dismantled is second to none. no one can match the wings depth on the NHL roster, as well as the deep prospect pool. teams get better when they scoop potential wings off waivers, ala leino, quincey. so for people to say the wings time is over is absurd. love your post dude!

i have always despised the leafs. this being said, i must be objective and present an argument for why i said they will make the playoffs. like someone else said, they have giggy, a pretty good goalie. they have a pretty decent D corps now and some legit forwards such as versteeg, kessel, kadri (maybe), armstrong, bozak... they still need to dump kaberle for a top 6 fwd, but they're a hell of alot better than last year. final argument for why they will make the playoffs...the east is s***!

and andersson! lots of potential for those 2. should have a decent shot at making the wings in the next 2-3 years.

tampa and toronto. edmonton in a year or 2 depending on next years UFA acquisitions. but they atleast have some good players now.

took the words right outta my mouth. flip was great in the playoffs last year and franzen is a goal scoring machine. flip feeding one-timers to franzen all year and bert hammering down in the corners and keeping the opposing dmen busy in front of the net is gonna be huge. this is actually the line i'm most excited to watch because i'm 100% sure on 1,3 and 4...line 2 has mystery surrounding it and i'm looking forward to seeing how these guys do together. hopefully bert plays like he did last year minus the no look passes and 1 hand on the stick at times. cream soda is tasty.

that sounds pretty good. the wings future is always bright. i really wish that nyquist could have made the rookie camp. him and tatar may be on a line together in a couple years on the wings. i heard somewhere that nyquist got a comparison to zetterberg who happens to be my favorite player, so i'm really interested to see some more of this kid. hopefully we get to see alot of video on sheahan this year too. sounds like a good sized kid with skill.

i hated the Avs, but Joe Sakic was always one of my favorite players despite the team he was on. same thing with Ryan Getzlaf and the Ducks, which i also cannot stand. the pens on the other hand...whole different beast. i like crosby on team Canada. as a penguin with all his whining and BS, i don't much care for him. i like jordan staal and kris letang. other than that i don't much care for any of the penguins. i actually hate most of them. now that gonchar is on the senators, i like them even less now. i kinda liked the flyers until pronger joined them. now i hate them and mike richards is one of my favorite players... but to answer the question directly, i hate the pens more by a longshot.

well put. and salei was never flagged as a dirty player. hockey is a fast game and modano has wheels. at the speed the play was going when modano went accordian into the boards, salei wasn't trying to hurt modano. you can never tell if you're gonna send a guy that hard to the end boards. he shoved modano and modano lost his balance and lunged forward into the boards. it was ugly, but atleast mikey recovered. same thing happened this past year with ovie and campbell i believe. a strong guy finishes a hit at high speed and the recipient really felt it. it's not like if claude lemieux threw the hit...then you'd know there was attempt to injure...
