lids should always be a top candidate for the norris. last year with the wings hurt all year, most man games lost, lids was over-pressured from playing with different linemates on a nightly basis and a horribly depleted forward unit. keith played with seabrook ALL year who is one of the best dmen in the league in my opinion. on top of that, 3 scoring lines and one hell of a 4th grind line infront of them. keith should have been nominated for the norris and won it, but if you switch him and lids situations, lids wins the norris by a landslide vote. my 2 favorite teams are the wings (by a longshot) and the hawks in a distant 2nd. so i am with you on multiple points, but with all the depth and firepower that the hawks lost this offseason they are gonna come into the playoffs most likely between 4-6 in the west this year. if the hawks have any significant injuries, they're gonna have a pretty hard time. and without buff there taking charge of s***, who's gonna do that job in his absense?

he should have been nominated instead of mike green the defensive liability. if anyone disagrees with this, look up the definition of the norris trophy. mike green does not fit the description. the wings PP with all the injuries last year sucked balls. lids will get 15 goals and 65 points this coming season with all the help he'll have this year....barring injuries.

i'm with you on this 90%... hopefully the wings get a lids "replacement" for about 6 mil. 7 mil for a dman leaves holland with some cap straints. i'm big on the idea of nyquist being on the team in 2 years with tatar hopefully. and in a couple years, i'm also hoping that adam almqvist graduates from GR bigtime and steps in to replace rafalski when the time comes.

kaberle didn't get moved because he only has 1 year left on his contract and it's open season with the UFA anyways. if a team trades toronto a 1st rounder and a good player and kaberle doesn't sign with them after the season, then they've wasted potential for a guy that's not gonna put them over the top as contenders most likely anyways. good job by the other GM's not blowing their wad on kaberle.

i'll be fine on Sept 7th when NHL 11 comes out. then i can atleast play a "pretend" season. it's nice seeing the Wings win the cup every year!

I was at the summer superstars charity event in Winnipeg last night. got to see darren helm and derek meech among other NHLers and AHL guys...and travis hamonic from the wheat kings. there was a skills competition between the 2nd and 3rd and helm is back to back fastest skater in the event. he beat mason raymond. only travis zajac (99mph) beat meech for the hardest shot (98mph). didn't know meech shot that hard. all in all, it was a fun night. woo hockey

howard's gonna have a great year. and with the wings team that holland has assembled, he can stand in the ken dryden pose for 2/3 of the game and get a pile of W's. can't wait for the season to start already. adios summer and your terrible humidity...hello outdoor ice!

crosby didn't have the goalies to shoot on that lemieux and gretzky did. if you put sid and ovie in the era with lemieux and gretzky, you have a 4 person race for the art ross on your hands. that's why i will not put my best captains of all time because it's apples and oranges.

yes. go with lilja or kindl who should get a shot. if krajicek is the only affordable signing, then that's a sign. no. if the wings can't get mitchell, don't settle for a hack.

chelios is definately going in the hall first ballot.

in a class with alexandre daigle and pat faloon, and red light racicot in goal. after the past 2 seasons, darryl sutter is a lock for the builder category.

maybe after i get the home and away wings jerseys personalized with dats and Z, then i may get a modano jersey. but i'd sooner get an yzerman, shanahan, federov jersey. or the hometown boy darren helm. but for helm, i'd rather get a freddy krueger sweater personalized with helm. i guess the modano jersey would be kinda like getting a hossa jersey. or hull, or robitaille. it's a novelty item.

i'll be excited even if the wings can't add mitchell and play kindl (who i personally think is gonna be a really good NHL dman). though if holland gets mitchell for under 3mil i'll be pretty happy. meech will be moved and probably ritola, but if mitchell signs for 5 years under 15 mil, then it's worth it....if he stays healthy.

if you buy the jersey and wear it to the game you get a free big mac and large fries. this heritage classic is going to be largely uneventful. calgary and montreal will both suck pretty hard this year. i wish it was toronto vs. ottawa or something like that. make the game interesting. not calgary, who is evidently rebuilding BIGTIME! i'll be playing NHL 11 while this s*** and the pens are playing on new years. f***, i used to like the flames before sutter destroyed their roster over the past couple seasons. i mean, sign bouwmeester and not cammalleri...the guy got you 42 goals and iggy finally had someone legit to play with.

4th line of helm - eaves - abby has some pretty good grit to it. maybe even some sandpaper. like your name though. cleary and franzen also have some pretty good grit. and no one f***s with dats, it just doesn't happen. wings are set. though ericsson could hit more... hmm. typing at the same time i see.

stuart was a force last year, but s*** he needed a break once in a while. eaves would have been good. and mindfly, the reason for the righty/lefty is because with all of the shot blocking in the NHL these days you have to be able to get the one-timers off on the the PP. if you have to stop before shooting, there's about a 80% chance some crazy bastard is gonna get in the way of the shot. look how effective lids/raffi are. eaves/kronwall would be pretty sick. i'm gonna go with stevkrause on this one. eaves is responsible defensively too, so there's not too much worry back there. williams was a defensive slug on the PP. got his ass burned often.

williams sucks epically. modano...well, 30 pts last year in 59 games on the 3rd line in dallas playing with slugs. career: 1459 games, 557g, 802a - 1359 pts. same role as hull and robitaille had in '02. i'll take that and run with it for a 1.25mil cap hit. welcome aboard mike. have fun with all of the wings 3rd line exceeding 20 goals this year. but i guess haters gonna hate.

if i'm not mistaken, you and me were just 2 of many people last season saying how we wanted eaves and his cannon on the 2nd pp in place of that bum williams who never hits the net. time should be split between him and modano.

i'm with you on this one. if Z is reunited with dats and homer all year, he'll come very close or hit 50+...if he plays 82 games. one other thing not mentioned by anyone...i was watching the NHL network and the top 10 saves of 2010, almost half were on Z. if those go in he hits 30 last year. Z finishes the season 82games - 51 goals, 53 assists Dats 82 games - 37 goals, 64 assists homer farts in turco's face

not at all. i've always been a wings fan, and a hawks fan since the days of chelios, roenick, larmer, drunk awesome belfour... so, no i wasn't opposed to cheli coming over. pronger just had surgery and will be even slower this coming year. if he played for the wings, he'd be under the microscope and would end up with a new NHL record for penalty minutes cause his s*** would get called finally. it also doesn't help that there's not a guy i hate more in the NHL. no thanks to pronger. his best years are behind him anyways. philly can keep him and have somewhat mediocre defence until he retires. if the wings were to go after someone, i'd wait for someone good to be RFA that's worth giving up picks for like doughty. i would also be happy with the wings going after a guy like alex pietrangelo who has tons of potential. my ideal choice for the wings is shea weber, but realistically that won't happen. rafalski at this point in his career won't haul in what LGW wants and getting a good young dman would end up costing a good prospect and a 1st and maybe 2nd rounder to get a good guy.
