Hank, Dats, Franzen, Modano, Huds, Flip, Homer, Cleary Bert - 18 Lids, Raf, and Kronwall all hover around 12-15 Eaves, Helm, Abby - 12 each.

Wings also have Drew Miller in the mix too. as well, i think abby is still eligible to play in GR if it's the right move. the forward depth when modano signs is sickening. unfortunately, ritola will most likely be gone like the article said. if the wings try to waive him, he will be snagged by someone. probably EDM or NYI... but tell me this doesn't give each and every dude on here a chubby and that other stuff for the ladies... Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom Franzen - Filppula - Bertuzzi Hudler - Modano - Cleary Abdelkader - Helm - Eaves extras: draper, miller, ritola(maybe) i'm pretty sure all 4 of those lines can put the puck in the net. that line-up = stanley cup! it's a nice thought to have franzen on the 1st line with dats and Z, but homer and cleary on the same line is counter productive. too similar. flip needs to feed the mule all year with cleary probably bert getting the puck from the corner.

i've said this before... with lids and rafalski getting older, keep them fresh. play each D line 20 mins a night and pair them up accordingly: kronwall - stuart lids - kindl rafalski - ericsson give kronwall and stuart the 1st pairing to get them ready to take over when lids and raf are gone. switch the lines once in a while to mix things up, but that should help everyone in the longrun. and when lids retires, bring in smith. the wings have a great system and development program, trust it.

kindl, janik, meech, smith, kolosov, pyett (worst case) future: fournier, almqvist, nicastro the wings aren't short on options. i'd rather gamble on smith than pay for another depth signing.

i'd like to see kindl play a full season as the 6th dman. look what happened with howard last year when he got a shot. worked out pretty well i think. i'm against the idea of picking up another dman until kinkl gets his shot on the wings.

i used the all of the above feature... 97 ended the drought and i was an excited kid and life time wings fan (of 12 years at the time) and 97 kicked off the dyanasty. 98 was strictly a special group effort for vladdy. 02 was amazing for the guys the wings picked up and just a fun team to watch. 2008 was great because as someone above said, the wings showed they were still the team to beat even in the salary cap era. it was also a passing of the torch from guys like yzerman, shanahan etc. to lidstrom as captain and dats and Z. a new grinder like helm to bring the wings energy every night. they're all great for their own reasons. it's nice to see the superstars like Z take the reigns from yzerman with the cup and conn smythe. yzerman - federov - franzen pretty much transformed for us into zetterberg - datsyuk - franzen in the way they play, which shows how great the wings organization really is.

Without the Hawks team that just won the Stanley Cup infront of Antti Niemi, we'll see just how average of a goalie he is. that hawks team was sick and niemi still let in some questionable goals in the playoffs. he played some pretty good games, but he wasn't a difference maker in most of them.

only if it was against the avs, leafs or as of late sharks. old and new rivalries. as much as we all hate the crosby hype and all the bulls*** that follows, there is a great current rivalry between washington and pittsburgh (Ovie and Crosbitch more than the 2 teams, but) so NBC and the NHL are gonna eat that up while it's hot. personally, i think it would be fair for ALL teams in the NHL if each team got a winter/heritage classic before the teams already involved get another one. i guess more than anything, i hope Ovie, Mike Green and the Geico caveman run over Cindy and Gyno with the zamboni. that would be worth my afternoon of suffering through another ******* penguins game. Which is why Canada has the Heritage Classic. And evidently, the NHL will most likely be sticking with 2 games with such titles on an annual basis, or by the number of Canadian teams, we should have it every 2nd year with not necessarily 2 Cdn teams, but 1 Cdn team and a US rival to mix things up every 2nd or 3rd Heritage Classic. I'd drive to Toronto (if i could get tix) to see the laughs get pumped by the Wings.

after the leg injury last year shortening his season he should spend next season in full in the JR's and hammer out 50 goals with Everett. Try and win a WHL Championship playing on a legit team this year and go into GR with some momentum.

if anyone other than modano signs i hope it's shaone morrisonn. he has the most upside of the group. max would end up in babcock's doghouse before the season started. if modano doesn't sign, the wings still have more than enough capable forwards. and at the wings not signing both of helm and abby if modano signs. the wings wouldn't give up players like that for a 1 year crack with modano. holland isn't an idiot.

that's why it's so nice being a wings fan. there was once a young man named sean avery that the wings drafted, traded because he was a so called "******". brendan smith seems to be getting his s*** together, thank god. now the wings apparently need to work on landon ferraro. maltby is an agitator and a huge mouthpiece on the ice, but in interviews he's all business. draper bad example using smiley face draper... if any wing did this they'd probably start the season in the press box. little kids don't start the season on the wings roster.

yeah, i heard something about that 5 year thing. that's what they do for government pension is take your best 5 years averaged out... Z's my favorite player, but even i think his contract is mildly BS with the 2 years at 1mil at the end. atleast it doesn't go past 40, but the salary should be the same every year to make it fair for every team. in reality, the change in a player in 5 years sometimes is drastic. the new CBA could even implement a signing structure like a player of a certain age can sign for X # of years: 18-21 can sign for max 10 years 22-30 can sign for max 5 years 31-37 can sign for max 3 years 40+ signs 1 year deals each year the player is signed, the same salary will be collected by the player and applied to the salary cap on an annual basis. i'm not sure how performance bonus' count against the cap, but the base salary for each player should count against the cap and performance bonus shouldn't, but should be a max of 1 mil/year that the player performs to earn as incentives under the table provided by the team owner.

this just brings up another relevant point in the NHL. what makes a player worth 3 mil? the salary cap was brought in to keep players contracts in perspective. owners are telling GM's they want a player and telling them to wave money in their face. arbitrators are also overpaying some players. NHL stars are also overpaid due to the fact that supporting casts make a team successful, not the 1 or 2 guys putting up 100 pts and the next guy on the team pots 50 pts and expects 4 mil/year. most teams are up against the cap and trying to shave salary because they throw money around without real thought...campbell, briere etc. how much do i currently think frolov is worth? 2mil/year. am i glad holland didn't get any ideas and try to sign him? yes. all this talk about discounts the wings get with players is absurd. holland manages the cap properly and pays most players what they are worth. other GM's should take note. not go out and throw offer sheets to guys like penner 4mil/year as an RFA. it's s*** like that that's making it hard for anyone to predict what a player is worth.

not being biased, but the only 2 deals that should have been approved are Zetterberg and Franzen. simply because their contracts end at the "generic" retirement age of 40. Luongo goes to 42 or 43 and Hossa goes to 42, which is ridiculous. the CBA should state that players can only sign multi year contracts to take them to the age of 40. anything after the age of 40 is 1 year deals until retirement. the NHL should do away with front loading contracts. every year the player is under contract should be the same amount. if a player signs for 5 years 25 mil, it should be 5 mil/year. none of this 8mil, 8mil, 3mil, 3mil, 3mil contract bulls***. any contract like that should be circumvention of the salary cap. all of the ridiculous loopholes and cap rules and what not are digging the business side of the NHL into a very large hole.

i'm with wings3:16 on this one. overpayment. he's been getting progressively worse every year. next year, with a rangers team with a recent history of snakebitten offensive production frolov will probably end the 10/11 season with 47 points. write this down, save it...who cares, but this kids laziness and his attitude/work ethic is gonna have him in the KHL sooner than later. 3+ mil per season should be reserved for elite 1 way offensive players or guys that chip in with offensive and defense. that's why flip is worth the money for the wings, and he's getting better...not worse.
