bertuzzi - Z - flip ritola - dats - franzen cleary - huds - homer abby - helm - eaves drapes - burish lids - stuart kronwall - kindl rafalski - ericsson lilja howard ozzy dats moulds ritola, rafalski moulds ericsson, same with kronwall and kindl. wings take a legitimate run at the cup without erasing the potential to bring up a prospect or 2 the following season....like nyqvist or andersson. possibly smith or almqvist on D. i'm not interested in major changes to a wings team with great chemistry and depth when there's good players waiting for a spot. and i like the element of surprise with wings prospects, so i'll go with the drafted players before handing out money to FA's. wings are already in good shape. there's balance on the D lines and 3 scoring lines and a annoying 4th line to play against. roll 4 lines giving the 4th 10-12 mins per game and go into the playoffs healthy and more rested than usual.

playing with a positive hard working young kid like rick nash may help with spezza's "give a f*** factor". feeding him passes and finding your name in the assist column may prompt him to repeat his performance. this is until he skates up the ice in his BJ's uniform with 100% intent on turning the puck over and get's KRONWALLED! the jackets will be a better team if he goes there though.

if he takes the league minimum give it a shot, as recent history proves that's the effort he gives on a daily basis...mimimum.

i'm definately with you on that one. and at 4mil, i'll take one of the best playmakers in the league to throw on a line with franzen. but.... he'll end up going to toronto for kaberle like tsn already stated may happen.

tinordi also sounds pretty good along with mcilrath. i'd also mention emerson etem, but i think the wings have alot of good forwards in the system and could do with some beefing up on the blue line.

chiarelli's pissed about losing to philly obviously! way to go pete. boston just got mean on offense! horton to go with seguin?, lucic, bergeron, krejci, wheeler, sturm... barring injuries this year, the B's are looking pretty good. pick up a free agent Dman to replace wideman and they're contenders for sure.

exactly. the wings had their yzerman. he brought the franchise from the gutter and obscurity to greatness and he instilled it in the organization along with the illich's and the management and coaching staff and the bar is being held up by the players that yzerman played with. the wings won't have another yzerman because they are way too professional and the best managed team in sports. they continue to do things that other teams can't do. win consistantly making minimal change each offseason to keep a winning team together and bring in youth as they are ready to be red wings. yzerman will always be remembered for what he did for the wings franchise and when the wings take over the #1 spot in the NHL for stanley cup wins, we'll remember where it started.

only .03 ppg more than yzerman over his career. #6 all-time: yzerman - 1514 games, 1755 points - 1.16 ppg #8 all-time: sakic - 1378 games, 1641 points - 1.19 ppg yzerman's last couple years took his ppg down for his career which put him lower than sakic. if sakic played 2 more seasons at his age, he would most likely not catch yzerman in the all-time scoring leaders. playoff points, sakic has 188, yzerman 185. not sure on the total games, but yzerman has 3 cups to sakic's 2... i personally hate this argument, cause i always saw sakic and yzerman as pretty much the same player just different handed. both humble guys that led by example and knew how to win and win fair. yzerman was my favorite player my whole life until he retired so i'm trying to be as unbiased as i can, but regardless, i call it a draw.

the wings play the hawks 8 times/year. that's 10.25% chance that the wings are going to be playing the hawks on the banner game. and if they play the hawks early in the year, there's an even better chance. i like it personally...just like carman said, it'll add fuel to their fire. listen to the interviews with wings players. it stings them when they don't win it cause they have a legitimate shot every year. lids don't like it when someone else has his cup!

exactly. that's one of the major factors of the goal scoring slip in the NHL over the past 10-15 years. the goalie's equipment keeps getting bigger and the nets stay the same size. adjust accordingly NHL, and not with those stupid half rounded nets that they were thinking of. look at the difference between a goalie from the 70's-80's and the late 90's-00's. the goalies are probably 100% bigger. so are the players though, so make the nets and the ice slightly bigger. separate the skilled goalies from the oversized cro-magnon's and the speedsters from the lugnuts. like eddie shore... puttin' on the foil coach! bleed all over em', let em' know you're there!

don't trade hudler, but absof***inglutely sign modano on for a year at 1mil or so. he can go back home to michigan and there's his contender. and LGW's get 3 potent as s*** scoring lines. i would have a chubby for atleast a week if modano signed with the wings! he can still fly. i see him on a line with flip. he could learn a few things from a guy like mike. i only see modano coming to the wings as a positive.

it's pretty hard and unfair to compare guys to Stevie Y. adam oates deserves to be in the Hall, as does dino and his 600+ goals. definately over nieuwendyk that jumped from contender to contender just being a good piece to a obviously great puzzle. bure should take the 3rd spot. that dude was a scoring machine. gilmour and nieuwendyk can go in together next year in matching maple laughs jerseys. wasn't oates drafted by the wings?? if he stayed with the teams we had, the wings would have had more cups for sure with his set-up skills.

if you were afinogenov and you were a decent enough player in the NHL that you could be picked up at the right price by half of the teams in the NHL and play with good players...would you want to stay in atlanta that just traded kovalchuk this year? and play on the 1st line with....eveander kane i guess? go to a team that will make the playoffs and give him a shot at the cup before he passes the age of 30 and proceeds on a career downhill slope. f***, he'd be better off going to toronto and playing with ok D, decent goalie, and kessel, kadri and bozak. me too. i was just gonna look through the hockey games when i got home. maybe bust out hit the ice for super nintendo. looks hilarious on the big flat screen tele! 2k10 may be the worst hockey game since wayne gretzky hockey for nintendo. it's the s***s! choppy ass gameplay and pass and shot and dekeing and everything else delay... mutant league hockey for sega is priceless.

yzerman was also on the cover of NHL breakaway 98? for N64 and NHL Rivals 2004 for xbox. lidstrom was on the cover of NHL Hitz Pro in 2004. i have almost every hockey game made for atari, nintendo, super nintendo, N64, sega, game cube, ps2, xbox, and xbox 360 and one for the wii....and that's about the extent of wings on the covers. yes i know it's ridiculous that i have over 80 hockey games, but it looks really cool on a book shelf in chronological order from atari to 360.

toews and miller are good candidates. if dats rips it up this year, he should be on the cover of NHL 12. if not...stamkos.

i'd rather see what ritola can do on the 3rd line than signing comrie for probably more than he'll be worth to the wings. ritola has skills with the puck. wait for preseason when he plays with flip or hudler (or both) and they dangle all over teams.

i was pretty surprised to see this. if ilari was coming to north america, it would make sense that he comes to the wings/griffins org, but it was kinda out of left field. i'm glad they signed him though. it would be cool if he panned out and played on a line with val.
