maybe moen. prospal will always be a big ??? whether he shows up or not. grier is not as effective as most people think. eaves and miller were great for the wings and bertuzzi pitched in with some decent offensive production. williams is a plug...nothing more. may can pick fights and hit a little, but that's as far as his effectiveness goes. the future of the wings is bright. huds is coming back to play for the wings again and there's some good prospects like ritola, nyqvist, smith, tatar, kindl, ferraro and mccollum/larsson among others that are going to be pushing for spots on the wings in the next few years. the best part of this summer is some contract we all want gone are gone. that's something we didn't really have last year. we wanted all the guys to resign, but Z's raise came in and there wasn't enough money for holland to sign them and we all know how that story ended. all in all, there's not much that could have been done last summer. with this summer hinging on what lids takes if/when he stays, this summer could get interesting too. the loss of all the players last summer was amplified by the lack of production and injuries by every wing this past year.

mike keane. 3 or 4 cups in NHL, playing on the moose for years now.
-
i'd be all over getting lombardi and putting him on a line with helm and abdelkader. the line would be known as the wrecking crew!
-
flip doesn't do much penalty killing, so everytime he got some momentum going it got killed with a wings penalty...or 8. kinda hard to get in the series when your team is killing penalties for 1/3 of the first 3 games. by the time the wings got going it was too late. can't just rag on flip for that. franzen only had 1 good game in that series...i don't hear anyone calling for him to be traded.

agreed. we can all re-visit this thread july 2nd when we know what lids is doing and how much cap cabbage he's eating up.

if it's gonna work here in the peg, there's gonna have to be some inner construction to add atleast 2000 more seats, which may be hard, but feasible. with the 20+ mil the coyotes lose each year, you can take a small chunk of that and do the job. and thomson's 19 billion can get it done with nothing more than pocket change. winnipeg is alot different than it was 15 years ago, but still i talked to a guy at work today and he said that 2 Winnipeg radio stations said the deal already fell through to get the team back here. so hopefully the radio stations are just blowing misinformed smoke out their asses. as for merchandise...if they do come back here, they had BETTER be called the Jets again, as Jets merchandise is still sold here and everyone has it. and everyone will go crazy buying more if they move back. but still, the council in glendale has to do their vote and then if a decision is made to move them to the peg, there's the serious job of adding seats to the arena, selling season tickets and press boxes (if it's not already in the works) and all the financial and upper management and marketing s*** that needs to be sorted out. and we all know how long that s*** takes. i for one would love to throw an octopus on the ice at the MTS centre! though for the life of me i don't know where to find one here... but...but the mighty ducks had a movie. and charlie conway and adam banks...goldberg the goalie. the team can play at disney world or some s*** like that. so they threw a team in anaheim. great inspiration NHL. way to go. no updating! the jets uniform is badass. maybe go with darker blue and red to make the jerseys slightly more modern and mean, but the symbol stays! get rid of the ******* puppy and put the jet back.

assuming lids returns, it's not for the money. he's made over 100 mil in his career. he just wants to get one more crack at going out on top with the cup. watch him pull an yzerman and sign for 1 mil. if the wings won the cup this year, lids most likely would have retired. honestly, with huds coming back and getting rid of williams, lebda, meech, maltby...wouldn't you come back for 1 mil if you were lidstrom?? then the team can sign 1 more really good player defence or forward, doesn't matter (but preferably fwd) and you got some pretty nasty cup potential. Z - dats - homer huds - flip - franzen ritola - helm - abdelkader cleary - miller - eaves/bertuzzi (whoever they sign) draper (should retire and sign bert and eaves) lids - rafalski stuart - kronwall kindl - ericsson lilja (if he returns) who would you guys even want to sign of who will be available? it would only make sense to sign/trade for someone is if lids hangs em' up...which most of us believe he will lace em' up for 1 more year. honestly, without even any signings i like that line-up.
-
this is what i'm hoping for. i was talking with my dad (also lifetime wings fan) and he heard something that lilja may retire cause of the concussions. if lids took a passing the torch contract of about 3 mil or so, then the wings could go with pairings of: kronwall - stuart lids - kindl rafalski - ericsson keep the kronwall - stuart line together as the steady pairing and switch kindl and ericsson around playing with rafalski and lidstrom and they'll steadily improve during the season playing with the high calibur d men. this way, lids and rafalski stay somewhat fresh and are there to help out the young guys. then when lids hangs em up, brendan smith may be ready to jump in. then you get lines a little like so: kronwall - kindl stuart - smith rafalski - ericsson if kindl or ericsson don't pan out, make signings or trades to bring in a d man that is capable to be "the guy" on the wings blue line. i understand that rafalski shouldn't be on the 3rd line, but these are reg season lines that i threw together to get the young guys ready to take over. i personally think the future of the wings is bright. lids is the type of d man that comes around once an era...thank god he threw on the wing wheel, and kept it on. i watched the griffins play the moose a couple times this year and he was the best d man on the griffins. i was actually pleasantly surprised with logan pyett too. i also reserve judgement for all wings prospects until they play on the wings with the big club players. even tatar, who in the WJC (with a terrible team) and the griffins was the invisible man when i watched him play.

all of us know here on LGW that the most overrated player in the league is mike green luongo is up there though. luongo steals games here and there...but as you said, he's had alot of bad games in the playoffs. they should just trade him already for another scorer and bring up cory schneider. the canucks have jordan schroeder coming up soonish to put the puck in the net and shirokov isn't bad. it's hard to believe that with luongo the canucks can't win. after they lose to chicago we'll probably hear the "he was injured" excuse.
-
dominant?? he has 4 points in 10 games...he's basically the equivalent of jason williams. the only reason he has "A" point at all is because hossa and sharp have been his line mates and for whatever reason he's been on the 2nd PP unit with them as well. so 4 points in 10 games is nothing special. give your head a shake.
-
he also falls down everytime he tries to hit. he is softer than pudding.
-
i'd take the coyotes out of phoenix and bring back the mighty blue, white and red of the fabled jets. come home boys. of course i'd want to trade a few guys, but cant be too picky right now...
-
everyone seemed to think i was crazy when i said i wanted ritola on the team...guess i'm not so crazy now am i?? it may have been that i wanted him playing with Z and flip, but you guys saw the obvious skill and potential he has that i saw when the griffins played the moose. hope he's on the wings next year.

the red wings going to the conference finals AGAIN this year is not in the NHL's script. San Jose needs a deep playoff run before you see another one of gary bettman's deep south "gems" enter the realm of financial trouble. though with the garbage economy and the turmoil that the city of Detroit has been through in the past couple years, it would be a nice story if they came back and won this series and the cup. but once again, bettman's heart only bleeds for SoCal and the deep south.
-
i just laughed uncontrollably. that's the best thing i've heard all day. thank you for making my day after a lame ass day at work.
-
if it's a blatant dive like setuguchi's, there is often only an unsportsmanlike penalty called. therefore, after the 4 on 4 is done, the wings get a PP. if the diving penalties were called on seto and nabby, along with the helm cross-check to the face, this series is going to Detroit 2-0 wings.
-
great...a shark troll to go along with all the penguins trolls from last year. i wonder how many teeth helm lost when he was crosschecked in the face last game. taht is a 5 minute major and game misconduct for attempt to injure/head shot. there's a difference maker and/or a missed call of large proportions. sharks fans have no business coming on Lets Go Wings and complaining that the sharks are being "called tighter than the wings" when the sharks spent one third of last game on the power play. nice try bud. your argument fails epically.

The real reason we are losing this series...
Z Winged Dangler replied to letsgowings11's topic in General
it sure isn't my fault the wings are losing. i can replace williams in the lineup and win faceoffs. s***...all joe thornton does is slash the other guys stick out of his hands so he can get the puck. cheap ass slug! seriously china? osgood #13? sofa king wee todd did! -
pull for either the hawks, canucks or bruins. i'll most likely throw on the lucic shirt and cheer for the B's.
-
he just notices it because the NHL is approx 50% Canadian. and they're usually getting tripped and hooked and slashed by lazy assholes, euros half the time.
-
yup. i puked in my mouth when i read that. now it's my turn to rub the crystal ball. after holland signs chris simon to add "toughness", he will trade flip, huds, stuart and helm to toronto for jeff finger. can't wait for that blockbuster. seriously though, flip didn't play well last game, but has been one of the best iwngs in the playoffs CONSISTANTLY! trade him? no effing way son! trade cleary if you want to trade someone. let's cut the s*** with wanting to trade useful players.
-
absolutely there has been lots of diving. setoguchi and nabokov have officially been passed the torch from the limp wrist of the divealanche. if the diving penalties are called instead of the bulls*** calls on the wings, this series is 2-0 wings. plain and simple.
-
i've been saying this since half way through the yotes series. except i'd switch cleary for bertuzzi. cleary's been a useless bag of s***.
-
i predict 14 red wing penalties to the sharks 2. the sharks will go 1 for 14 on the PP and the wings will go 2 for 2. this will anger bettman
-
sure did not sure why SJ are jumping the refs...they got the 5 on 3 PP's
