it would be really nice to see our big guys like z, dats and franzen rack up 5-6 points each against the oilers and continue their already hot pace they've been on since the wings became healthy. get them on a serious roll going down the stretch into the playoffs. not like every other year where the wings rest all the top guys and drift into the playoffs to get ready for a 1st round upset due to an adapted laxidazical style. it makes you think if now that the wings are pretty much healthy with a possible climb to a better playoff spot, they may be able to drop the hammer and take out some of the top teams in the west one after another...? conceivably, the wings could move up as high as 5th place in the west being only 6 pts behind the avalanche as long as they keep winning.

It's been said over and over again that Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin are going #1 and #2 in the 2010 draft...but does anyone know anything about the rest of the guys projected to go in the 1st round? With the Wings fighting to make the playoffs, and a possibility of them missing, (if they do) they will be in the bottom 14 in the league with a legitimate shot at a top 10 pick. if it comes down to this, who would be in the approx 9-14 pick range that the wings would be looking to get?

you know what i don't get...how did lidstrom win 6 norris trophies in 7 years and never even get an honourable mention for the hart trophy? on a nightly basis he shut down all the hart trophy candidates and then some. maybe he should jump around like he just won the stanley cup everytime he scores to get some attention.

Gustav Nyquist-- Hockey's Future Prospect of the Month
Z Winged Dangler replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
good to see a couple of wings picks that are having really good years. hopefully landon ferraro is done with his injury issues he was having. the wings have a good group of potential solid prospects with the likes of tatar, ferraro, smith and nyquist along with possibly larsson or mccollum in goal. hopefully kindl turns into a good wing next year too. the wings seem to be heading in the right direction with their picks. hopefully they get a good player in the 1st round this year too to round out the crop. -
that's pretty much why i said i wanted neiderreiter. he's a rookie right now in the CHL and can play a couple more years with his junior team i think, and then if he's developed enough he could very well jump right to the Wings, or whatever team gets their hands on him. i felt really bad for tatar at the WJC...slovakia had no one to help him at all. they were downright awful! he's doing not bad with the griffins right now though with 28 pts in 43 games. the griffins are coming to the peg to face the moosies soon, so i'll try and check out the game so i have an idea what he can do with some good players around him.

thanks drake. out of that list in around the Wings potential picks I wouldn't mind hearing nino neiderreiter's name get called by holland. he was actually pretty good in the world juniors on a so-so swiss team. good size and shot and has some speed. could be a good addition to a z-flip line... as for the write up on mark stone, i was in brandon for the wheat kings game against eberle and teubert (that's pretty much the whole pats team...they're terrible!) and late in the 3rd when it was 10-2 for the wheat kings, teubert and stone were scrapping and teubert knocked stone right the f*** out. it was pretty bad. they had to help him off the ice. the kid couldn't even stand. so he won't be rising too much more for the time being due to some jelly in his head. jeffery skinner has 48 goals and 40 assists for 88 pts in 63 games in his 2nd year with the Kitchener Rangers...not bad. centre, but maybe he can play wing. he may be a good pick. not too big though at 5"10, 182 pounds, but neither is Martin St.Louis and that little s*** would be more than welcome in a pint sized Winged Wheel. either way, the wings need preferably a scoring winger.
-
I thought the exact same thing when i saw the lines, and have miller back on the wing and draper shift over to centre, his natural position. and draper is pretty damn good on faceoffs. i'm quite interested to see flip and Z together...may just work.

I turned my tv on to NHL on the fly last night, and I believe it was during the Colorado/Vancouver game, where an announcer asked why players on the PK are allowed to ice the puck. If the penalty killers had to get the puck out of the zone on the penalty kill instead of icing the puck over and over, there would be more offensive chances on the power play. As the announcer said, you get a penalty, you're penalized... Heard it and thought it might be an interesting concept.

Everyone keeps making separate topics about how our guys we lost are doing so good...it was to be expected. The guys that played key roles for the Wings go to other teams and get more ice time and produce accordingly. Drake predicted the offense we would lose, and now everyone is surprised when the Wings are on the brink of missing the playoffs for the first time since Stevie Y couldn't even grow a playoff beard! Hossa - 41 games, 38 pts Kopecky - 62 games, 12 points (lol) Sammy - 66 games, 47 points Hudler - 54 games, 54 points total = 151 points (year to date) replaced with: bertuzzi - 66 games, 37 points eaves - 52 games, 17 points miller - 64 games, 16 points williams - 28 games, 11 points total = 78 points (year to date) not sure if i missed anyone the wings lost, but the 73 less points the Wings have this year with the replacements, but that's the difference between coasting into the playoffs and fighting to make them. unless lids takes a hefty paycut for use of signing another potential top 4 defenseman and top 6 forward, don't be surprised to see our Wings in the same position next season.

good points from you guys, just found it to be an interesting topic for discussion. i don't necessarily think they should do it, but on the topic of changing the size of zones....the NHL ice size should narrow the difference of the size from theirs and international size. take the two rink sizes and split the difference giving the skilled players more room to get around all the lugnut defensemen in the NHL. that would probably be a better idea than not being able to ice it on the PK, but it would be fun to atleast watch it in the AHL for a year. come on guys, i'm from Winnipeg...all i have is the Moose. i need some excitement!

Questions about potential next year's roster
Z Winged Dangler replied to Leadzedder's topic in General
i definately agree that the wings should try and add guys like ladd and mitchell, but the salaries you are projecting for the others are unrealistic. abby isn't going to make almost twice as much as bert and homer. eaves will probably sign for around the same as this year for another year. and all of us at LGW hope like hell that lids does the same thing yzerman did and play for peanuts to get some good players in to prepare the team to lose him. if lids plays super cheap, then holland may be able to lure in a couple good guys to round out the line-up. lids is a class act and may take a pay cut for one last really good chance at a cup, or perhaps a thank you to the wings organization and fans....here's hoping. -
is there a march calendar wallpaper?
-
absolutely, props to USA hockey! from a canadian hockey fan... i'm not sure why IIHF booked their flights prior to the gold medal game. i was one of the few non-americans i guess that figured you guys had a pretty good team. just wait until the next olympics when some of your guys from the world junior team step up to the big stage...namely jordan schroeder. he was i think the only player in that tournament better than taylor hall. the future's looking bright...and so is the rivalry. it's gonna be good!

this man should live in a bubble. if he needs to leave the house, he should travel in a large hamster ball. never have i seen a goalie injured so much.
-
but....but what will i put on my desktop background at work?
-
yeah, and it's funny when tsn mic's him up when he's the back-up. dipietro is out indefinately now too i think, so the isles are gonna need biron. especially seeing as roloson is old and will probably also need hip surgery soon. i wonder what goalie the flyers are gonna shop for today...if they do.
-
oh, and good thing the flyers shipped biron to a team that already has 14 and a half goalies. have fun on deadline clarky...call all your friend and see if he has a 3rd string to lend you.
-
Now sugar ray can hang out and play fight night round 4 til training camp. win-win for him...he still get's paid.
-
weber - regehr seabrook - keith doughty - myers now that would be a whole different story. atleast this will be the last olympics with pronger and need-a-walker
-
4-3 russia. the shark line is slow, they will be exposed by russia's speed and skill. toews, morrow and richards need to be on the ice everytime ovechkin is and keith and seabrook on D, or weber and doughty....in reality, babcock will probably put "the experiment" line out with pronger and neidermayer on D and they will finish the game -3. on the bright side, even though i'm canadian, i'm a wings fan...so dats vs. z sounds like a pretty good game.
-
Today is going to be the BEST hockey day in a long, long time!
Z Winged Dangler replied to a topic in General
yes they absolutely do...and i'm canadian. then we can stop hearing about crosby vs. ovechkin and they can promote datsyuk vs. zetterberg! or my canadian boys can win and all we'll hear about is the "experiment" line getting an A+ and how good crosby is even though iginla and staal outplayed crosby against the germans. and i like babcock, but he is an ******* and completely disrespected rick nash by giving crosby his penalty shot that he earned. rick nash has 1 maurice richard trophy, crosby has 0...the guy can put the puck in the net. there, i'm done venting...and i actually like crosby. just a dick move by babs. -
well in that case, i hope they make some sauerkrauts tomorrow if ya know what i mean

Joe Thornton bad for canada and shark?
Z Winged Dangler replied to Kwame_Kilpatrick's topic in General
well put, and i'm pretty sure marleau was going for the cycle...he hit the U, the S and the A on millers jersey our boys should lay off the pre-game beers EH? -
US should have a more favorable road to the medal round. they beat canada, plain and simple. pronger is a tool and my canadian boys are s***ting the bed once again. go sweden or something. i'll crank up some in flames and soilwork and watch sweden's medal blend in with their jersey. besides, zetterberg is my favorite player so i can cheer for sweden right? if not, f*** it i'm gonna anyways!
