at this point in time, i would have taken any of the following over pronger/niedermayer: phaneuf, regehr, bouwmeester, green, tyler ******* myers!, coburn over pronger...jovonovski. forwards...staal has been kinda lame and doesn't win races to the puck or battles on the boards. why did stamkos not make the team?? he's been better than most of the guys on the team this year. toews, morrow and iginla/bergeron has been by far canada's best line....so a line with doan on it would pretty much provide the same spark as the above mentioned line....say, doan, stamkos and iginla/bergeron would give canada a second line with some grit. canada's got a long road ahead if we're gonna keep any medal here. here's hoping for a game against latvia or belarus cause at this point it looks like any team with "some" skill will outplay and unfortunately out coach the canadian boys. at least i can hope for sweden again if canada finishes 7th.

being on a pro diet and training program with the griffins would probably help him add bulk to his frame better than the college dorm would. also, playing against tougher competition than college hockey would make him understand what he needs to work on with his game to become NHL ready. honestly, if he were to play anything else other than AHL, (if he's not too old) I would say the WHL would prepare him better. The toughest junior league in the world!

don't send the NHL's prized penguins to sell tickets...they need a stong start to the season and gary doesn't want them to have jet lag. atleast the wings aren't going over again.

if the wings drop the hammer and get a top 4 spot in the west with alot of 1 goal game wins, then howard wins the calder. if not, myers hands down over tavares. btw, duchene > tavares...mark my words! pretty much on par for points too.

why not use williams?? he's got a really good shot...but look at the deke dats did, it sucked hard. listen to the announcers all game...the ice was soft, the puck was bouncing like a bastard...there's not too much the guys could do out there. and babcock got the linesmen to go out and run a shovel in the penguins end prior to the shootout and it still wasn't good enough. solution: burn down the igloo, possibly with the penguins and their fans in it.

olympic break = rest time for injured players pretty much the whole team including the possibility of lilja will be back after that. you ask me, with a healthy roster can the wings go 20-9-1...hell yeah. anyone who thinks otherwise is not a true wings fan

cormier's hit was terrible compared to kassian and that other kids hit that got suspended for the year...so like you Yzerman191, i pretty much knew that was gonna happen. it's sad to see a really good player like him throwing away the rest of his junior career.

i must say...after reading this i have a massive chubby! good news is something we havn't had alot of this year, but at the same time the wings are in 8th with all the injuries. maybe a top 4 playoff spot is in the works with all the returnees.

Green is a left winger on defense...no norris thanks. i like him, but he's not great defensively. that being said, for norris candidates, they always come in 3's. mine so far this year "all around" are: Duncan Keith 50 games - 10 goals, 35 assists - 36 pts +17 Hawks - 2nd in west. Drew Doughty 49 games - 9 goals, 27 assists - 36 pts +12 Kings - 8th in west, non-playoff team last year. Tyler Myers 48 games - 7 goals, 21 assists - 28 points +11 Sabres - 2nd in east, non-playoff team last year. This guy is the next Chara...he is a huge motherf***er!!! thoughts??

those are depth players that aren't getting a great chance to showcase what abilities they have in detroit. like quincey, they might do better playing in a place where they can be on the ice for more than 7 minutes a game.

i didn't know that the thrashers fans were also the GM of the team....pretty sure atlanta has a GM and scouts that know full well who kinkl is. they may even have a minor league team that plays the griffins multiple times a year.

all howard needed was a bunch of NHL games to learn how to stop the puck in the NHL...funny how he's starting to play like an NHL goalie now that he got his shot. also, good to see jimmy playing so good!

this generations hockey player turns their back everytime they're about to get hit, resulting in them getting hit from behind. with the speed of the game, guys pay the price when they do that at the last second. it's not like they're claude lemieux hits on draper...alot of the guys bring it on themselves because they're afraid to get hit clean cause the guy won't get a penalty if he hits them clean so they turn their back and make sure they lay there for a few minutes after getting hit. as for the "dead puck era"...i noticed the scoring leaders going down every year since the lockout and it's because the NHL is making its way back to the clutching and grabbing. they guys in the NHL are faster and bigger in alot of cases making it harder to find room on the ice. you want more goals of the rush and less clutching and grabbing?? solution: MAKE THE ICE SURFACE LARGER! if they split the difference between international size ice and NHL ice and made all the rinks that much bigger, it would open up the game alot and the "skilled" players would then have an advantage ALL the time. they would have more space to move around before lurch tries to tackle them.

so he'll be back just in time to get conditioned for the playoffs...this barely registers as news! now like someone said, if it happened just before playoffs started then we'd be having a good laugh at the pens... even further, if the pens were to be dealt long term injuries to crosby, malkin and staal right before playoffs and get swept in the 1st round there would be a virtual LOLocaust around here. here's to cheering for some timely injuries to the poster team :beerbuddy:
