well said. and it's a good thing as a wings fan to know that it's only up from here with all the guys lost in the offseason. 10th place at midseason isn't that bad, especially with all the injuries this year. what happens when franzen comes back and goes on one of his ridiculous point streaks?? having him back will help exponentially and if he's on a line with dats and the lately hot bertuzzi, good things can come from it. and just to remind everyone...wings won without hossa and lost with him and the same line-up the very next year.

what next? that's probably the worst possible thing that can happen to the wings. but then miller, eaves and bertuzzi score and the wings/griffins/waiver pick-ups win 3-0. and the wings are 7-2-1 in their last 10. what a f***ed up season. kinda exciting other than zetterberg going down as he's my favorite player...and in my pool. no need for emoticons, you should now know i'm making a very sad face.

Cleary 2005-2006, 77games, 3 goals, 12 assists, 15 points, +5 2006-2007, 71 games, 20 goals, 20 assists, 40 points, +6 Miller (with the Wings) 2009-2010, 18 games, 4 goals, 2 assists, +6 (after another goal last night) 2010-2011.....? we'll see. Cleary took a year to really fit in with the wings and find his groove, but if you want to compare him to Draper...he had 24 goals and 40 points that one year, so i'll take that from miller

maybe not. wasn't sure on his age. but i know this much....the wings would have surpassed the leafs for 2nd all time in cup wins if that never happened, along with all the other wings that had unfortunate things happen to them. also, if ted lindsay and glenn hall never got traded to the blackhawks as a result of the forming of the NHLPA, the wings would have surpassed the leafs as a result of them staying in detroit. instead, there was a long ass stanley cup drought. again, if gretzky had picked detroit instead of LA, there would be even more cups....now we're creeping up on the habs. shall i try and find any more examples of how the wings should/could have more cups? cuz i will!

1 - i would like obviously for the wings to win the cup and howard win the conn smythe 2 - zetterberg win the scoring title with a healthy team supporting him 3 - sign willie mitchell and ilya kovalchuk in the offseason and repeat next year obviously if this was past wishes it would be 1 - konstatinov not getting in the limo 2 - gretzky goes to detroit instead of LA 3 - fischer's heart never f***s up leaving us with the following defense pairings...still... lids - konstatinov rafalski - kronwall stuart - fischer hmm...no lebda...cool!

leading by example is also effective. ask that again when he undresses pronger and scores the GWG in the gold medal game and takes tournament MVP just over kovalchuk. don't take dats' bad year so far too seriously. he's still top 5 in the NHL.

you sir are ******* nuts. no way in hell would the wings trade dats and flip for vinny. i myself would keep dats as: datsyuk > lecavalier...overall

WHAT THE f***?!?!? s*** dude...that's drastic. how about trading for a winger that belongs on a line with dats. if you had homer and bertuzzi on your wings you wouldn't get 97 points in a beer league. and there's more to being elite than racking up points...there's nothing wrong with dats' defensive game. he just needs to be on a line with some real talent. this year is unfortunate for the WHOLE team except maybe zetterberg who is a point a game.

well said. so if anyone thinks huds is gonna come back next season to play for 2.5 million or so taxable dollars, they're outta their mind. he goes from whipping boy to #1 centre.

the only wings player i'd say that's been consistently good is zetterberg. even when he doesn't get points he still brings great play to the table. problem with homer, if he doesn't chip in with more than 3 points in 10 games, he is rendered useless. he's a blob in front of the oppositions net, not much more than that. he isn't a particularly good skater or overly great defensively. he has his uses and at this time their not working...unfortunately. i can't wait for most of the old dogs on this team to hang em up.

at this point in time, i'd take hudler and his 59 points back...but the wings have cap issues that will hopefully be sorted out in the offseason in order to pick up another top end talent ala hossa. we're not getting kovalchuk unfotunately. even with the freed up cap space, he's too expensive. but as for hudler, i say let toronto sign him and take some picks for his RFA status that he'll have. that's a good way to get a high draft pick.

yeah, it would be nice to fire back at a team for once and jack a couple of their free agents...like ladd and possibly hjalmarsson.

agree 100% i said the same thing before in a different topic. dats with helm and z was the line combo i said to be exact instead of playing with guys that drag anchors.
