I'm having arthroscopic surgery 12 September and will be off work for 3-4 weeks, and then the physio sessions start(1 month), then swimming with the physio....then i start more intense weight traning workouts. doc said it would take about 4 months after surgery date to start playing contact sports or throwing, so with hossa's profession and degree of contact it may be atleast 4 months. atleast he'll have kopecky by his side...he can be hossa's butler and get him drinks and stuff while he's rehabbing i would like to see hossa come back though. even though he couldn't re-sign with the wings, i still like and respect his as a player/person and hope nothing but the best for him.

i for one make that comparison. zetterberg is like yzerman's protege

possibly having more guys on defense in philly that aren't complete lugnuts would help their goalie as well. pronger is no speedster either...he's actually quite slow. timonen is more or less the only guy on their point with wheels, coburn is a good d-man, but not overly quick.

i'm a big abby fan...but i wouldn't mind seeing those lines to start the season. lots of speed, that's for sure. it those lines don't pan out, make something happen at the deadline.

no worries. that 2nd unit looks better than alot of teams 1st unit. sure is good being a wings fan.

i wonder if it bothers the "future Mrs. Hossa" that kopecky takes up her leg and foot room at the end of their bed?? did they put #82 on kopy's collar in case he gets lost? all joking aside, hossa was #18 until the amazing maltby had seniority...and switched the numbers around to 81

i think hudler's too small and slow. but we shouldn't make fun of him, he's vertically challenged. he is a midget and he's not allowed in the deep end of the pool

overrated tanguay hasn't had a really good season since leaving the avs. sakic and forsberg carried him to his point totals cause they can put the puck in the net. he's ok, but nothing to get excited about.

Exactly! replace sammy, hudler and hossa with helm, abby and leino. you have a few less goals, but you have a younger, faster team that's gritty and harder to play against. the wings don't need to add another hossa type playerto win. they have as good a top 6 as any in the league. their depth is really good and they can throw 4 solid lines together. the wings will let in way less goals this coming season...guaranteed. when the young guys spend an entire season on the wings (ericsson, helm, abby, leino) we're all gonna see their games hit the next level and see what they can really do. they need to be put into their roles and be kept there for the full 82 games.

forsberg's career is dead and buried. if the wings were to take a risk, i'd rather it be on the 24 year old zherdev....IF they take a risk.

nice post i like it. that's why the wings don't have/need a scrapper. they're 1 dimensional and a liability on D, with little to no offensive upside. pretty sure i just described downey...sorry guys. ericsson can play and scrap, but that's about it for the wings. the only other guys that can play and scrap come at a high price....iginla, lecavalier, lucic... the days of filling a roster spot with a guy who can fight and nothing else is over. s***, even probert could score. i like watching fights, but i LOVE watching the wings win the cup.

you forgot to mention fil's superior 2-way game, that of like a true red wing. the fact that fil is a better, faster skater thus making him more of an offensive and defensive weapon than huds. now in the coming year, fil is going to get hudler's PP mins and double his point total, as he didn't get PP time last year. hudler is replacable! leino should step in nicely. 9 pts in 13 games = 57 in 82.....sound like someone we know?? hmm...

i have a feeling we're gonna see homer on the top line with dats and z, cause that's the only place he can produce. the wings are gonna be fine. we're gonna see alot of helm and hopefully abdelkader, and maybe leino will crack the top 6 if he plays up to potential. the only way the wings are getting another good goal scorer or signing a guy like tanguay is if kronwall or stuart are traded away.

it's guys like sakic and yzerman that SHOULD have represented the face of the league more...unlike what we have now. classy guys that play the game at a very, very high level. s***ty to see joe go out on a crutch and an unfinished season, but he'll be remembered as one of the best regardless.

a guy like yzerman could convince lombardi to want to come to detroit. if i'm not mistaken, yzerman chose lombardi to play on the last team canada in the World Championship

i agree with these lines. and then the 4th line retires after next season! they just don't have IT anymore...unfortunately

look up one post...just said the same thing. atleast us wings fans are on the same page and know what we want. i called my dad and was pissed when the wings waived him and kept others. i knew we'd want him back!

that's a ******* horrible move by the kings! not only is smyth's contract expensive for what you get in return, but quincey was their best d-man down the stretch last season along with doughty. and preissing is no slouch. but of course i have an undying hatred for smyth. always have, always will. captain canada my ass. *****! though now the wings can trade lebda to the avs for quincey and it all works out right??

i love it too, but don't you agree it should be called the "black aces line"? the very sight of that line combo excites me!

when leino signs he'll be on the 2nd line instead of homer's injured ass. he's getting painfully slow and will hopefully retire after this coming season with 4 or 5 cup rings along with draper and malts. no offense to them, but there's not too much left in the tank.
