pretty much exactly what i was thinking. holland wouldn't say abby's ready if he wasn't. that's not his style, and we all know it. and he proved that his worth to the team is greater than the likes of many that are on the team. and like you said, with the cap, there's gonna be less of a waiting period to be a wing for some guys. and abby is a good kid that works hard. i'd love to see him on the wings full time next season.
-
but he's french... you ever see that show the weakest link?? campbell made his name in buffalo and hasn't been that good since. chicago is a really good, skilled team...so i don't know what the f*** his problem is. maybe his puppy died. personally, chicago is my 2nd favorite team behind the wings, and i may get grilled by some for saying that, and following them is the B's, but the hawks, if they want to win it need huet to play out of his mind. he was kind of a #1 in montreal, but was never really a proven clear cut #1 goalie for an extended time. and as for campbell...he needs a blanket party or something to get his ass going, or they should trade him and get someone who is gonna help the likes of seabrook and keith, who are both top notch d-men. we'll see how things pan out, but it seems like the same thing that happened to the high flying sabres a couple years ago when they lost drury, briere and campbell may end up happening in the windy city. atleast for the sabres they can't feel too bad because all 3 of them had s***ty years last year all combining for 133 pts. kinda lame for over 20mil combined.

just refreshed the tsn page and saw that....eww. ryan smyth is the anti-christ. he is the only player in the nhl that stands closer to the goalie than homer....but he's pretty boy ryan smyth so he gets away with it....'06 vs wings....d-bag
-
lol...amen bud. that would be awesome. and a ECF of boston vs. washington. that was what i was hoping for this year. then i wouldn't care who won...as in i would obviously like the wings to win, but the 3 remaining teams would be alot better than the likes of the pens, ducks, etc.
-
just to add some fuel to your fire... chelios played for 3 teams in his career...he won cups on two of them as for kane, his contract will be too rich for the likes of the wings. but kenny should offer troy brouwer 1.5mil/yr(approx) for X# years and try and get him from chicago as he's a RFA right now. give chicago a 3rd rounder to sign him which they'll end up losing anyways.
-
they're all probably gonna sign with the hawks, but with the wings "needs" i can't believe no one has mentioned to get troy brouwer. that kid can play, and he's f***in' tough
-
good point, he has more skill too lol...but i was referring to lindros. i also hate it when people call ericsson "big E"
-
yes i mean federov. and there was an "if" in my statement. i'm aware he doesn't skate like federov, but not many do. i just see some of federov's qualities in leino when he's played, aside from the playoffs where he was not bad, but looked nervous and mildly overwhelmed. but that's what happens when you play 13 reg season games and get tossed in to the mix in the playoffs. and when you're a natural scorer playing shutdown on the 4th line.
-
just not 88

it's for the best... and abby is better than maltby, even a young maltby same with helm and draper. i hope leino turns out to play alot like feds if he can begin to excel at the art of 2 way wings hockey. alot of good things to come from this kid WE hope. ericsson will continue to improve. lots of good from him already. and howard....let's see what he can do. let's give him a legitimate chance, cause he hasn't got one yet.
-
abby is ready. he played great in the time he was given in the playoffs. helm and leino, as well as ericsson were already guaranteed spots on the wings next season....and they will be alot more comfortable next post-season with an entire regular season under their belts to adjust more to the nhl speed and toughness.

settle down a bit dude. the main problem these days with free agency and arbitration is that it's the same as before the salary cap came in. salaries were lower for a little while, not even a full season. detroit is one of the only teams in the league that doesn't say "erat got paid this much, so we're gonna pay you this much" they value what you're worth against the CAP, not what other teams pay their players, and what kind of outrageous offer sheets the kevin lowe type are gonna blindly throw your way. for you to say that the LGWers are undervaluing huds, who is in fact an undersized, one dimensional player, that isn't heavily relied upon and didn't play that good in the playoffs, which got his ass demoted to the 4th line.....in light of that, you wanna tell me he's worth over 2.5 mil that kenny holland (who of all people will tell us what huds is worth), you're out of your mind. too many guys in the cap world are getting overpaid! that's why teams that make the "big splash" 1st of july signing end up with significant holes in their roster and end up as busts. wait and watch what happens to the hawks next summer and you'll understand what kenny is doing. this is why he's been the gm for so long while other gm's fight for their job on an annual basis.
-
but he's an agitator with a pissy little temper. he lost his lid against the wings. we don't need someone that takes stupid penalties. that's why the wings let avery go all those years back, and schneider took lazy, undisciplined penalties....now kronner needs to smarten up. no thanks to versteeg and his full diaper. go play for the pens. don't get me wrong, good player, but don't think he'd fit right. and babs would have a new whipping boy.
-
versteeg - 22g, 31a = 53pts he didn''t even get 70+ if you include his 12 playoff pts. where you got those stats from i would like to know... stewart would be a decent pick up. chicago needs to dump campbell and huet if they want to sign kane AND toews next july.
-
versteeg will not get over 3mil/year. he was a rookie last year. a good rookie, but 52 pts is not even as good as huds at 57. may as well just resign huds at 2mil/yr. they're pretty close to the same player anyways.

-
the depression in chicago is on it's way again. after next year, let the rebuilding begin again. bolland just got a hefty raise as well.

Wings will be a better team in 09/10

2009-2010 DETROIT RED WINGS FORWARDS Pavel Datsyuk $6,700,000 Henrik Zetterberg $6,083,333 Johan Franzen $3,954,545 Valtteri Filppula $3,000,000 Daniel Cleary $2,800,000 Tomas Holmstrom $2,250,000 * Jiri Hudler $2,000,000 Kris Draper $1,583,333 * Ville Leino $900,000 Kirk Maltby $883,333 Darren Helm $599,444 DEFENSEMEN Nicklas Lidstrom $7,450,000 Brian Rafalaski $6,000,000 Brad Stuart $3,750,000 Niklas Kronwall $3,000,000 Jonathan Ericsson $900,000 Brett Lebda $650,000 Derek Meech $483,333 GOALTENDERS Chris Osgood $1,416,666 Jimmy Howard $716,666 BUYOUTS NONE LOST VIA REENTRY WAIVERS NONE CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (INCLUDING BONUSES) ROSTER SIZE 20 SALARY CAP $56,800,000 PAYROLL $55,120,653 BONUS MONEY (ESTIMATED) (0% of cap) $0 CAP ROOM $1,679,347 CAP ROOM PER OPEN SPOT $559,782 dats - z - cleary franzen - flip - huds leino - helm - homer maltby - draper - meech lids - rafs kronner - stu lebda - ericsson ozzy - howard meech can play the wing, and has in the past. and assuming abby is spending one more year in GR, there's not much more kenny can do for now. it'll be a different story when draper, malts, and homer retire, along with lids and then rafs. atleast the wings have some good prospects, but they're gonna have to get a #1 d-man when nick retires. personally, i like the 1st pick in the draft of landon ferraro, who may make a nice wing in 2-3 years. meh, in kenny we must trust...and hopefully yzerman sticks his nose in the business. -
at the right price, yes. he's small, but he's fast and good around the net. and he's surprisingly somewhat tough for a guy his size. the wings would most likely have to sign him and let huds go.
-
LOL at the habs! i mean "la nouveau leaf de maple"
-
oh, and meech can also play 4th line wing. so all the people that are saying to trade him better look at someone else to get rid of.
-
helm is a centre. so is abby if need be. leino also is a centre/wing. no worries.
-
f*** no!!!! he's lazy as hell. and he's soft. and if he wants that kind of money, have fun in the khl
-
that's why i said they should offer havlat hossa's contract. he's awesome. if the wings were somehow able to sign havlat, leino and bring up abby, i couldn't be happier.
-
no thanks. the wings have better players in the minors. the wings need to sign a guy who will bang and crash and get the puck to z, dats, and franzen.
