Early report - Kovalev to re-sign with MTL
Z Winged Dangler replied to stevkrause's topic in General
good. he can waste away in mtl longer. -
it's a very nice thought, but unrealistic. as rage said (twice), he's getting his pay day
-
and then the wings can offer havlat the contract they offered hossa
-
shanny can't keep up anymore. the wings would be better off bringing the hall of fame yzerman out of retirement after a few years of rest to throw on the equipment. he'd play better and bring more to the table than any guy the wings can afford.....not gonna happen. sign leino and bring up abby. give huds 2mil/year. the wings can't do better than that at this point in time with the cap strangling them.

to add to the list, not already mentioned... guys who are: eric staal, jason arnott, guys who are on their way: paul gaustad, trent hunter (once he has help and health), honorable mentions for the future: nathan horton, travis zajac, peter mueller there's still power forwards, but the game is more about speed these days.

i like the way you think....but i can't see the kings giving quincey back. he's playing really good there. though those d-lines look beautiful.

Wings select Landon Ferraro at 32nd overall
Z Winged Dangler replied to Systemfel's topic in General
thank god! the wings will have some great pk lines in the years to come with obviously z and dats, helm and abby, now ferraro. apparently he has the same qualities as the little ball of hate father of his, and more... he's the guy i wanted when a few others were picked (kassian...), so here's to him hopefully kickin' ass with the black aces next year :beerbuddy: -
Wings Trade thier first round pick to Tampa
Z Winged Dangler replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
didn't they get mccollum last year in the 1st round? i hope they pick ferraro's kid at 32...or make a trade with buffalo. give them the 32 pick and the rights to hudler for kassian -
If You Think Hudler's NOT worth $3 Million...
Z Winged Dangler replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
if hossa signs, huds is gone. hudler skates slow anyways. i've always backed him up and liked him, but he's not a top priority for the wings right now. kevin lowe is gonna make another one of his offer sheets and he'll be on a line with penner next year. -
Ottawa Sun: Wings have made lucrative long term offer to Hossa
Z Winged Dangler replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
the cap hit is different from the player salary. the cap hit is based on the average salary per year. if you could make a list with the "cap hit" of each player, it would indicate that if hossa signs for a "cap hit" of 4 mil/year, th e wings would be able to afford him. some of those guys are also in the minors -
well said. zetterberg got a nomination 2 years ago and was beat out by dats, but his selke's are on the horizon. z plays alot like yzerman in his late 20's, once he really learned the 2 way game.

What would people think about getting these players?
Z Winged Dangler replied to crazy13's topic in General
agreed. but on a side note, the only non-wing that i want to see a wing "somehow" is bouwmeester -
July 1st Free Agent Notables + Team by Team Salaries for ‘09/10
Z Winged Dangler replied to crazy13's topic in General
chelios is too old to keep up with the kids in the nhl these days. no ******* way to mats sundin...he brought nothing to the table in vancouver and pretty much floated around the ice. he's also old and tired. all the RFA's come at a price of more than money, but compensation for the other team...so they're pretty much out. the ufa's - bouwmeester and biron would be good, but would require letting rafalski or stuart go, as well as conklin. biron would be a really good #1 for the wings with the d-men they have, not like the d in philly...not so good. the wings wont do much, if anything outside of maybe signing hossa. if they don't sign him, they'll probably just keep huds and sammy. there wont be much movement in general until draper, maltby, holmstrom, chelios, and mac hang em up. shortly after that though, lids, rafs and ozzy will be calling it quits, so letting rafs go and getting bouwmeester wouldn't really be a bad idea, and for the longterm would provide an escape plan of sorts for when lids calls it a career. no better chance than the present. bouwmeester is the best way to go if he doesn't stay in florida. -
i would size them for suits and put them all in an office suite together. cleary and franzen stand in front of the net to almost the same degree as homer. go at the net with a different approach with the other 2 lines. and generally you have 2 pp lines anyways, so mule and newfy do homers job there. if i was in the front office, the following guys would be retiring: chelios, homer, draper, malts and d-mac. helm and leino are already assured spots on the wings. i would re-sign hossa at franzen money. if abby spends 1 more season in GR (likely), look at lappy or john madden for some added grit. don't sign huds or kopecky. sign sammy for 1.5 max or simply replace with abby.

there's a huge difference between age old tradition being s*** canned by some whiny litty ***** cindy, and disrespect from the games best owner to a complete ****** bag commissioner that year by year is ruining the nhl.
-
hudler also plays the wing because he's too slow to play as the centre. he's also not at a red wings level defensively to be a centre. z, dats, helm, draper, flip....all good 2 way players. franzen was a centre, but not on the wings anymore, but if you noticed, he's really good at faceoffs. huds ain't that special with faceoffs. even next year when leino is on the team he will be on the wing. abdelkader wasn't playing after game 2 or 3 in the SCF because he's not comfortable on the wing. but he would be at centre before huds because he's faster, plays better defense and hits. and as for an offer sheet from the pens, they will have enough problems soon re-signing their depts, especially with scuderi at .7mil and a ufa this summer. hope the pens gm has a fun offseason. with all the guys he has signed right now and the probably lowering of the cap, he's got alot of ufa's to deal with. http://www.penguinpoop.com/2009/pittsburgh...ry-cap-numbers/ kind of a lame chart that doesn't show the "cap hit" but gives you an idea. so no worries about huds goin there.

johnson was drafted 3rd overall by carolina in 2005. he was in a lame pkg deal to L.A., never played for the hurricanes. I'm not worried at all about him hitting our euros, as he's soft and injury prone himself. he's the one that gets hit by tougher players and sits in the press box for extended periods. go ahead, look for yourself http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=4956

raises for who...koivu and miettinen? who else?
-
good job on the research. no team for winnipeg, but for s***'s sake get them out of phoenix
-
use rafalski to cornerstone a trade to get bouwmeester. dominic moore impressed me this year with the sabres after he escaped from toronto. he signed for 1 year with the leafs and i think he's a ufa. he may want too much money though.

hmmm...good catch sir yes, please do explain as i ask again....where was bettman then. i was at the jets farewell...i was young and can't remember if bettman was there (probably not) but he didn't hesitate to take the jets and nordiques and move them to the U.S. i'd like to see those southern states make it on their own without bettman's revenue sharing and league funding for "his" teams. the only canadian team he saved was ottawa. taking away the team from the nations capital would be a national disaster.
-
pretty much the same player minus a nice new fake knee. in the old nhl though, derian was a beast. he definately separated the men from the boys, or the boys from their heads...
-
winnipeg may not be able to support a team, but neither can phoenix. they need to relocate where there's a fanbase.

leino, 13 games, 5 g, 4a, for 9 pts....on the 3rd line most of the time. +5 rating, 17 shots .69 pts/game average. if he kept that pace for 82 games, his point total would have been 57 pts, 32 g, 25 a.....on the 3rd line. hudler had 57 pts this season. hudler was so useless he found himself on the 4th line in the playoffs. he got all his points on the pp with z. in closing, i'm pretty sure i proved hudler can be replaced by leino. you're welcome. any more questions?
