Balsille. that is exactly what the wings need!!! someone who gets to the goddamn puck before the other team....other than helm and cleary. i've been a wings fan my whole life and will continue to be until i die. they've been good to me. i get as pissed as all of you when they don't win the cup, but that's the best thing about being a wings fan is you expect them to win it every year. how many fans can say that about their team?? last year with pittsburgh...12 goals, 14 assists, 26 pts total not really the definition of a playoff choker. the pressure got to him, he couldn't handle it and stopped producing. the wings re-sign him he should be even hungrier next season. franzen money sounds good, 4 mil/year. the wings need to let others go, and bring up abby, and they'll have leino, helm and ericsson up full time next season. the wings will be much different this coming year. leino, in all fairness with the role he plays, needs a full season in the big league to be productive in the playoffs. abby's role is completely different. look for leino to replace hudler, who we'll probably see signed by the oilers, wild or kings this summer...wait for it. hossa just had too much on his mind to play "good" hockey in the playoffs....better luck next year unfortunately

well said. talks prior to SCF were allegedly saying hossa was looking for franzen type cap hit. after his playoffs, his stock definately went down, but huds was as useful as a wet fart. i've done nothing but stick up for hudler, but he was nowhere to be found and made his way to the 4th line quickly, and should have been in the press box so abby could play. i agree with a comment that someone made that if hossa wants dats or z money to wave goodbye. as much as i like hossa, he can still be replaced with a really good player at the 4 mil payscale. depending on the cap situation, holland wants hossa, leino, and helm to be on the team next year. abby spends one more season on grand rapids due to the retention of draper and maltby. sammy had a good year and i'd like to see him sign cheap and be a depth guy. if i had things my way, the following players would be retiring: maltby, draper, holmstrom, chelios(not signing anyways) and DMac. after next year, all of the above may be gone. you'll see black aces graduate to the wings that don't already have roster spots next year.

i like the part about getting bouwmeester, but sign hossa. if anything, make rafalski part of the package. there's so many more d-men that would better suit the wings than pronger. most of chicago's blueline, if they could get one of them i would rather see the wings try and trade some prospects and picks and steal a guy like shea weber from nashville, or try and sign him when his contract is up. or they could get a solid d-man that would fit in the wings system....get quincey back, jovanovski, try and pry marc staal from the rangers. there's no easy path really to get a new top d-man. most of the s*** i mentioned may not even be able to happen, but guys "want" to come to detroit, so we'll see someone wear the winged wheel that's worthy. don't forget...the wings don't rebuild, they just re-tool occasionally

chicago needs to get rid of huet and campbell to be able to afford heatley...that is if they want to keep toews and kane, along with bolland when he gets his pay raise come contract time. i could see him going to edmonton and ottawa getting stuck with oiler trash. what about the possibility of L.A.?? they may be a team to look at as far as big moves and/or signings go this summer. gaborik and koivu need more real help in minnesota, but in the end, heatley has some say in where he'll go. so it probably will come down to the oilers or hawks.
