the wings have been playing like it's pond hockey this year. while it's fun to watch...it's scary i guess. and it seems like most of the people on this site agree. dress rehearsal for the playoffs or not, things need to be tighter. but hey...there's still 5 more months of that dress rehearsal

i was pissed right off when the wings let quincey go. i was hoping next year for the wings 3rd pairing to be quincey and ericsson. that would be a sick 6 man blue line! and yes, those pairings are good cause it balances it out more. lids and rafs are the finesse d-men and stewie and kronner hit every motherf***er that crosses the blue line. another smart move by babs. i hope the wings crush the stars...with a very lopsided score.

f*** the habs! we don't need a poodle parade in montreal this decade. or any for that matter.

The great swedish drafting could be better actually
Z Winged Dangler replied to Phazon's topic in General
my favorite player is zetterberg...a swede, but the wings also need gritty skilled canadians on the team...like darren helm. the wings drafting is tops in the league and has been for a long time. -
keep joe away from the wood chipper

kronwall and rafalski are way better than zidlicky and bergeron! no ******* way is that an upgrade on defense.
-
guess what other wings vs. avs series was great?? last year when the wings swept them!! but they're all great. can't wait to see the roadblocks in this years playoffs...
-
i wouldn't be surprised to see helm recalled. he's been one of the best players on either team every game he's played this year. he'll be big come playoff time when the salary cap is buried til the next year.

Support Chris Osgood (and the Detroit Red Wings)

finally a post that isn't hating on the wings and their 17-4-4 record. go ozzie, go wings. and goddamn huds is tearing s*** up this year. -
lidstrom had the big game everyone was waiting for him to have offensively...
-
franzen re-signes. wings don't let kronwall go. kovalchuk is a great player...but it's not gonna happen, no matter how much we would all wanna see him in a wings jersey. holland has enough on the table wanting franzen, huds, HOSSA, and most importantly zetterberg. we'll see what happens july 1st.....leave it to kenny. we don't need to play gm anymore for him.

i said i hope we keep hossa...don't think we will though... on the other hand, if he does leave, here is my little analysis, take it as you will. current cap hits: dats-6.7 filppula-3.0 cleary-2.8 homer-2.25 drapes-1.583 malts-.883 lids-7.45 rafs-6.0 stuart-3.75 kronner-3.0 lilja-1.25 lebda-.65 meech-.483 ozzy-1.416 total: $41.21 mil estimates for re-signings: kopecky-.75 zetterberg-6.7 (same as dats) huds-2.0 franzen-3.0 howard-.75 total: $13.20 gone: mccarty sammy-asks too much... conklin-value goes up too high based on this years performance cheli-finally expires combined total- $54.41 no room left for hossa, leaves holland with a presumed 2.29 mil to sign helm and leino, or both... go nuts!

great article...lucic kicks ass! wish he was a wing. reminds me alot of wendel clark.

holland is gonna do what he does every year...find a way to make the wings better than the other teams and give less. players want to play in detroit cause players know they have a chance to win. often they take a pay cut (hossa) to roll with the winged wheel. franzen and huds stay, and sammy's actually been good this year, at both ends of the ice. let maltby go, and trade kopecky. bring in helm and leino. decisions will be made with hossa and zetterberg as to signings and salary. but again, leave that to holland and we'll see what he gives us next season. here's hoping hossa remains in the red and white next year. and zetterberg wants to remain a wing for his whole career, and obviously take the "C" when lids hangs em up, so don't be surprised if he signs for 7 years with a hometown discount.

i'm excited about this game. it'll be way better than that oilers vs. habs garbage with a lame old timers 2-0 oilers win. the only good thing about that game was theodore's toque! this game is gonna be great now that chicago has a good team to play against. hope everyone enjoys zetterbergs frosty beard...can't wait!
-
mcdonald sucked for the wings whenever he got a chance. wings will ride out ozzy til the end of the year and hopefully give howard a shot next year. he's still a hell of a goalie. and to the surprise of many, conklin has been really good this year...

The Wings are losing because they've been careless and are giving the puck away more than i've ever seen them do. And as stated, they've been doing a dump and chase way too much as opposed to their puck possession game that makes them dominant. Oh, and Darren Helm shouldn't be in the minors...nice stanley cup ring on the Griffins roster.
-
if the wings are now 13-2-3 (after narrowly beating the oilers...but beating the oilers after a steady parade to the penalty box) and they're playing like s***..i feel bad for the rest of the nhl when they decide to start playing. everyone's +/- on detroit is not where it usually is but they're winning...so lets start bitching when they stop winning.
-
there's 65 more games for the wings to decide what seed they want to be in to start the playoffs. and that's what it's all about...the playoffs. the wings have had a tendance over the past few years to start off slow and turn it on after 20-25 games. they use the all-star week to recover minor injuries and domiate down the stretch to get ready for the playoffs. no worries...come playoff time the wings are gonna ******* destroy everyone. i personally hope the western final is Wings vs. Sharks so we can harpoon those assholes again.

Battle for Roster spots getting tighter...
Z Winged Dangler replied to norrisnick's topic in General
if the wings are gonna ice an enforcer, they're gonna do it right. it's gotta be someone like good old bob probert. they don't need an anchor, they need someone who can step in and don it all. they're gonna trade for a top 6 forward at the deadline anyways.
