Aren't the writers saying that Vanek wants to go to Minnesota to play with Pominville again? It appears Minnesota is the place to be these days. That was another brainfart typo. But realistically, I'll take Sheahan and his alter ego and keep em' both on the team. We either need to get Stuart or Greene for this team or hope that next year Marchenko comes up and keeps his game at the NHL level consistently.

I'd say defending Cup champs in Chicago are just as elite as those 2 teams and I'd almost put St. Louis in there right now as well. Agreed. We need that guy that we've all been talking about, Greene or Stuart. A guy who will change the game with a huge blocked shot or a shutdown hit on the other teams superstar. Those 2 guys do that. I know full well Stuart does it a LOT! Replace Q with one of those guys and the complexion of our blue line is completely different. You have that go to guy on D to hold a lead. Ericsson has been terrible lately, but he may be feeling too much pressure to be that guy.

I would argue the opposite. Sign all the RFA's and none of the UFA's unless Alfie wants another go at it. Offer money to Vanek, Moulson, Greene and Stuart. If none bite, use Ouellet, Sproul and the kids at forward.

Put Smith back with Kronwall. They were awesome earlier this year together.

We all love Danny D, but he's been a bit off since his injury as well. Kronwall back there is one of the main reasons we're hanging on to a playoff spot along with Z's masterful leadership. He's a big calming influence on guys like DD and Smith. If you watch every game, it's easy too see.

The bar was raised so high that only Bobby Orr could reach it. And out of the guys that are above Kronwall on that list, the only guys I'd take above him as our #1 guy are Pietrangelo or maybe Keith. And to add to that, Byfuglien is now a forward, so his stats could be elsewhere making Kronner #7 in points at D.

Yup. How many above him on that list make less than 5 mil per? Dude's a massive bargain. 4.75 mil til 2018-19. He's such a great guy, his salary allows us to pursue a 1B Dman.

We're much better back there when Ericsson isn't on the bottle. He's been a lug nut as of late.

Kronwall 8th in the league in points for Dmen. Only 2 have a better +/- and that's Keith and Pietrangelo. If anyone thinks Kronwall isn't a #1 Dman, especially playing with a lower quality blue line than we're used to, is crazy. And as far as points go, he's only 3 behind Subban for 5th overall.

Should I dig up the Kronwall is a #1 Dman thread I started? I'll eff'n do it if I have to !

Dump Q and get Matt Greene or Mark Stuart and you'll see a monumental difference on our blue line.
