Regarding Sammy, I think the Wings should waive him down to GR to at least have $925K or whatever it is of his salary exempt for the remainder of the season so we can keep useful players up like Glendening or Nyquist. Waive Eaves down to have some relief as well and keep the cheap guys like Glendening and Nyquist on the Wings roster.

Tootoo is playing his way into great trade bait, but I hope along with the others that have mentioned that we keep Tootoo. Signing Miller this summer was redundant as all hell, (as was Cleary signing). He's beyond expendable. I like him for the PK, but other than that he's been useless. As far as trading Smith, I'd rather trade Franzen and deal with a cap penalty if he retires early.

The new CBA overrides the old CBA though. Which is why Franzen would carry a cap hit if he retired early even though he is not even 35 yet. So still, how did Jersey actually get away with Kovalchuk retiring? I have a feeling that the league may have a case on their hands for Pronger's cap hit disappearing as he is physically not able to play at no fault of the Flyers. It's sorta funny watching Holmgren completely ruin a hockey team, but at the same time, you gotta wonder if the league will step in and make a ruling on this case.

Ryan Callahan is a perfect example of what the Wings need. Especially with Helm out constantly.

Cleary gets way more ice time than Goose and has also played with Dats and Z. Apples and oranges... Cleary needs to go too. He sucks. I don't know if I mentioned it in any threads today, but I'd like to go on record stating that Cleary sucks. A Wings roster without him may bring tears of joy.
