If it were a "I wish these were the lines", then: Z-Dats-Tuzzi Alfredo-Weiss-Nyquist Tatar-Helm-Mule Tootoo-Andersson-Abdelkader Miller/Eaves Kronwall-Ericsson Kindl-DeKeyser Smith-Q Lashoff Howard There's something to be said for having 3 scoring lines, and Franzen loves living in the shadows so 3rd line with 2 insanely hard working kids is a good place for him.

How much do the Wings need another defenseman?
Z Winged Dangler replied to StayClassy's topic in General
I don't think it would ruin it, I just don't believe it's the glaring need that some people think it is. I'd love a Girardi or a Pietrangelo, but we needed scoring more than another Dman, which I believe Holland did a good job obtaining. If a Dman like the guys above can be snatched up, the go for it, but it's not like last offseason where we didn't get really anyone of value in the summer. We are a better team going into this year than last year and last years team took the Hawks to game 7 OT. -
What forward is the Red Wings X Factor?

And unlike Filppula, he WILL shoot and has grit. Me likey. -
If we had Andrew Ladd instead of Johan Franzen, we win the Cup next year. There's a very good reason that Ladd is the captain here in Winnipeg. His compete level is that of Darren Helm.

"I am not a goal scorer,” he said. “I am a hockey player. I never look for goals. I look to play good and then people score or I do." I have a hard time believing he'll be more aggressive offensively if he's not really in a mood to "look for goals".

I agree. I think all jerseys should have laces. As for the "new" jerserys, they're barely changed. The stripes on the bottom and less dark green on the sleeves, likely cause the old white jerseys had too much dark on them and that's just obnoxious to do in a white design.

And this here is why I was stuck between Weiss and Helm. If Helm is healthy, we know exactly what he brings. With Weiss, he's never really played with guys as good as he'll be playing with on our 2nd line. He could get 70 points, he could get 45. If the chemistry is there, he could kick supreme ass. -

I voted Weiss for the same reason. He's got massive potential to be awesome here instead of the NHL purgatory that is Florida. I also thought about voting Helm cause you're right, he is basically the ultimate energy maker out there. That kid can steam momentum from the Juggernaut. -

Exactly this. Everyone wants to see the kids play and now that they get to we need to bring in someone else? I'm all for our current line up taking the ice this year and then in a year or 2 we'll have Sproul, Ouellet, Backman and others pushing these guys to keep their game up or they'll lose their spot to the aforementioned. If after this season, Sproul replaces Quincey I'd be 100% pleased. The future of the Wings is the prospects that are being groomed as Echolalia stated and the guys that won the Calder Cup last year behind a Wings team that was "rebuilding" and was supposed to miss the playoffs. Since the beginning of last season, we lost Brunner, Flip and Cleary so far, and we acquired DeKeyser, Weiss and Alfredsson. I'm sure having a hard time not staying positive and it's gonna sink in even more when I download NHL14 early release friday at lunch and start playing with the Wings and see Alfie and Weiss in Wings uniforms. That's usually when it hits home. We got some very good replacements for Brunner and Flip that I believe are upgrades easily. As for the original question about our D, having the following is not so bad: Kronwall-Ericsson, Kindl-DeKeyser, Smith-Quincey, Lashoff as 7th. Ericsson has become a very trustworthy shutdown guy, DeKeyser doesn't like letting guys get past our blue line, Kindl hits the net from the point better than anyone else on our team, Smith had flashes of brilliance but needs to settle down and Quincey stopped sucking 2/3 of the way through last season and proved some of his worth. I'm happy with our current blue line. -
Haha! So I'm not the only one? I have a feeling I'll be somehow disappointed with Canada's roster and will just cheer for Red Wings to do well.

I got dark souls and after a few parts, I can't figure out where to go and can't be bothered to look it up at this point in time. Lego games I found out are quite fun. I just got to 32 out of 40 achievements in Pirates of the Caribbean and now I'm working on Lord of the Rings. Maybe I'll eventually go back to dark souls. I'll be playing NHL 14 tons soon and then the Xbox One may be out November 9th and I'm getting probably 8 games for that when they all come out. Good thing I have an exercise bike to ride while I watch every Wings game again this year.

I got the EA season ticket again this year and have 9 days off from the early release date so I'll try to remember to head back in here to give you guys the low down. From the demo, this game feels like a monumental improvement on that complete pile of garbage NHL 13 was. I'll be having fun with that Live the Life and GM mode mainly for the first few days and once I unlock most of the equipment and what not I'll join the rest of the world online when the actual physical copy comes out.

Should have went back to the Jets for one last season, but that video is awesome.

If we kept Nyquist though we could have a Swede line of Nyquist-Jarnkrok-Hampus Melen. That excites me quite a bit. I actually see Nyquist and Jarnkrok as potential Z type players. I'm not huge on moving either of them for that reason.

Burmistrov didn't want to earn his ice time. He just wanted to be top 6 without outperforming any of the other guys. He has a very entitled attitude. He's a Filppula that doesn't work as hard, but he's got as much potential as Flip and can hit and grind it out better. If anything, I'd move Nyquist or Tatar up to top 6 and put Burmistrov on the 3rd line, but that's if he's "willing" to try to earn top 6 minutes. That was his problem with the Jets last year. Noel is a good coach.

And then Tuzzi. To hell with the rest of the NHL. Tuzzi made 1 mistake and Konawalchuk jumping on him after is what delivered the crushing blow, but that's neither here nor there, Tuzzi would get the Cup after Alfie. Lets just hope that these everts transpire and then we play the guessing game on who gets it next. As for this threads point though, we won't have roster space for Cleary and Tootoo may get traded anyways. What ever happened to him going back to Nashville?

Ryan Callahan is one of my favorite players as I like the "jack of all trades" type forward, but that's a lot to mortgage on the development side for him. I'd rather offer up Franzen + prospect + pick if needed. I have a really good feeling about Nyquist being the next Z though, so I really don't want to put him on the table in any trade. He's a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders and a lot of potential.

I don't understand jersey designs that are white, but have the teams dark colours on the top 1/3 of the jersey. It's insanely annoying when you're on the ice. have fun playing Slovakia or the Czech's in those jerseys.

I really like the idea of Girardi for Quincey and maybe even throw in a guy like Almqvist. That would wrap things up on D quite well. I think the real thing we're missing as well on forward is a guy like Milan Lucic. I would be willing to give up Franzen and Mrazek for him in a heartbeat. I may even throw in the 1st round pick as well. I'd take him over Evander Kane. Kane has the same issues that Seguin does, which is why Loui Eriksson is a much better all around player than he is. He doesn't have the off ice crap going on and his game is exceptional. Eriksson is also another guy I really wanted, but I'll settle for him on the B's. Lucic on a line with Dats and Z would be monstrous. Weber wouldn't turnbuckle smash Z with Lucic on the ice and neither would anyone else. He's also an annoying net presence.

Abdelkader-Helm/Andersson-Tootoo is much more of a 4th line I'd like to see, with a healthy Tuzzi on the 1st with Z and Dats.

If the Wings used a regular buyout wouldn't it make his cap hit 2 mil this year and they buy him out over this year and next? -
So the consensus on Shanny's #14 is a no?
Z Winged Dangler replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
meh....it's still bogus that his number is being retired. He was decent but not great. -
Personally, I think that Eriksson is a better and more complete player who was only under a point per game the past few seasons cause he doesn't have jack for help in Dallas cause their GM is clueless. He'll thrive in Boston bigtime I'd bet especially if he's on a line with Lucic and Krejci. I'd even say that Eriksson is better than Horton and he's more durable. Eriksson is one of the most underrated players in the NHL and he's a guy that I badly wanted on the Wings. Seguin is really good and has potential, but who knows if he'll ever reach it and Eriksson is in his prime and will be for at least 5-6 more years. Boston's top 6 is disgusting. Fill the bottom 6 with hard nosed grinders who can score. No need to keep Seguin below Krejci and Bergeron when he could be moved for a high caliber winger.

That would necessitate Andersson be hurt then. If Dats or Z are injured, they have the healthy one at centre and wingers move around. If Weiss is injured, Dats and Z are split up or Franzen takes 2nd centre duties. If Helm or Andersson are injured and Tuzzi is healthy, Abdelkader could move down to 4th line centre and Tuzzi can take his spot on the 1st line with Dats and Z. Emmerton is a last resort bud....sorry.
