So the consensus on Shanny's #14 is a no?
Z Winged Dangler replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I have a crystal ball that predicts future mistakes, what can I say... -
Bench one of the best playmakers of this generation in the playoffs, allow Rick Nash to float like a derp and say one of your hardest workers on your team stinks on the PP... Good thing Tortorella is gone, but honestly, Vineaught or however you spell his name is just a different evil. Instead of publically embarrasing his players, he trashes other teams and makes excuses for everything and has zero grasp on reality which is why he was so wonderful in Vancouver. I wouldn't have hired either of those dummies. Ruff would have been a much better coach for the Rags especially coaching against them in Buffalo for so long. Lundqvist will win a cup once he's traded to a contender in 6 years or so.

Then again he's been in the finals 2 out of the past 3 seasons with a Cup ring to show for it. His team is top to bottom a championship caliber team. Though Rask is overpaid in my opinion.

Buying First Wings Sweater - Advice wanted
Z Winged Dangler replied to DyingAlive's topic in General
I have a Zetterberg jersey I got last year. It has an A on it cause I got a pilot from my work to get it from Shanghai and it's actually official NHL. I'm gonna get an older WC jersey, a newer WC jersey possibly with any of Helm, Kronwall, Nyquist or even Weiss and I'm really considering getting a black Datsyuk jersey cause they look awesome. I agree with the guys that said get anyone who you honestly think will be a Wing for life or a guy that was an awesome Wing that you can look in the closet before a game and say, yup...wearing Yzerman/Lids/Vladdy/Fedorov or such. -

He'd stand a much better chance if it were just Wings and Whalers. -

Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)
Z Winged Dangler replied to Ram's topic in General
No. Andersson was our BEST faceoff guy last year. That negates any chance of him being on the wing. Emmerton would be the one moved to the wing, but as stated he'll only play if we have an injury to Helm or Andersson. -
The only number you need to back that argument is 2587.
-
To add to your point, why would we have our BEST shutdown Dman as a 4th line winger?? Some of the lines are intriguing, but the 4th line is just absurd with Ericsson on it where he now truly belongs on a line with Kronwall. Good riddance. He is a lazy floating sack of crap. The Jets will surely be better without him.

I vote they expand to Yellowknife and San Antonio and then have them in the same division.
-
Apparently yes. From what I remember, Gretzky was talking to his old man Walter and he was debating and his dad told him that LA would be more of a challenge cause the Wings already had Yzerman and blah blah even though in 88 we didn't even have Lids, Vladdy, Fedorov, Lapointe etc to make the Wings the powerhouse they became. Who knows how that would have changed history. Maybe the Wings finish higher and don't get all the guys in the 90/91 draft including Lids and quite frankly, I'd give up Gretzky for a career of Lidstrom who won 4 Cups in his career and Gretzky never won it again since leaving the Oilers. Better to have the 4 Cups than some "what if" scenarios.

Absolutely it does. It's an absolute joke that they retire his number when they already have guys like Sakic and Forsberg to retire along with Roy. New organizations trying to create history too fast. Daneyko's was just funny. That's like the Avs retiring Adam Foote's number. It's just laughable. -

I like high numbers. I wore 90 for quite a while cause no one on the Wings wore it, and then playing for the Winnipeg base hockey team I snagged 19 as a rookie . Been wearing that since I joined the military aside from the last 2 injury plagued years.... On topic from my little story, I hope Gus takes 89 to training camp now that he's "on the team" to say the least. I'm really waiting to see if they let Frk take 91 when he makes his way up here. I have a feeling he'll be up after 1 year in GR and he'll make us not miss Brunner so much. I see him being more of an impact player than Pulkkinen (similar player style). As for Shanny and Fedorov, I agree fully with the ring of honour type deal. have the Wings crest with their name engraved on one side of the band and their number on the other. They couldn't wait to raise a couple numbers up so they just blew their wad? Bleewaaaahhhhh! DAneykO!!! -

Nyquist wore 89 while in college. Lots of Wings young guns have different numbers for their first year or 2 and change them. Homer is an example, Franzen I believe and possibly Flip wore 41? -
Yes I am. Those 2 should have been the top pairing on Canada's WJC team with Dougie Hamilton on the 2nd line. Ouellet was our best Dman on that team and that's only cause Sproul didn't get an invite due to prior injury. Sproul has even been compared to Pietrangelo by the same coach that worked with both Sproul and Pietrangelo and the only difference he noted was that Sproul was bigger and stronger. And Ouellet is exactly like Shattenkirk. So yes again, I'm for real.

I thought he left cause he didn't think he fit in with the Wings future plans. That and he wanted to be in NYC to prepare for his next career that he's currwntly in. -

Silly Question: What would the game of hockey look like if...

I would say that Kindl and Franson are fairly close in skill. Kindl will be essential to our 2nd PP not only moving up the ice but he hits the net more than any of our Dmen. Ouellet is a super skilled responsible 2-way Dman. Sproul and Ouellet in 2 years will = Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk. Keep them both for sure. Our main concern is not D as we have so many skilled D prospects. The main focus was forwards and the issue is well in hand after getting Alfie and Weiss. The only trades that need to be made are roster and cap trimmers involving Tootoo and Eaves as they are the easiest pieces to move and Tuzzi/Sammy are likely too hard to move. There's no point in making any changes like that this summer. Wait until next summer when Alfredsson's contract is up and then try to move pieces to acquire a top 6 forward and let our D keep developing as it currently is.

signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)
Z Winged Dangler replied to ogreslayer's topic in General
Unlike Parise and Suter, Alfie will be heading to a team with strong leadership and more than 4 "good" players. He's probably pretty ok with that. -

Z Winged Dangler replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Is he on the Olympic diving team? Flip is overpaid by at least 1 mil and Pavelski isn't worth 1 mil more than Flip. I'd say Flip at about 3.5 and Pavelski at 4.5 is fair. The cap went down therefore market value should have as well, but apparently it did not cause GM's are like children trying to get their hands on their favorite candy paying convenience store prices. -

Most people are visual. Once the NHL comes out with the old flow chart with colorful arrows, we'll all get it. -

Fair deal my ass. Overpaid. He had 2 good playoff years and has stats fairly comparable to Filppula, slightly better though I'll admit, though Flip is better defensively and doesn't dive like a bee-yotch! -

Not sure where Portland is coming from these days. Seattle yes, but Quebec is way ahead of Portland on the list and will likely have a team in the near future. I definitely approve of the 2 teams you want to move though.
