That may have been his "I don't want a medal" team. Neal is a one-dimensional player and likely won't make the team even when Crosby begs for him to be on it.

If the Hawks win the Cup... (new license plate)
Z Winged Dangler replied to Namtaru's topic in General
It's pretty bad when you can't think of anything cool for your favorite team so you have to trash another team. That would be the equivalent of me having a Pens Suck plate or V-Cansucks. I'd rather have something like Yzer19, StevieY or something more meaningful to the team you love. Some fans are so lame. Living in Winnipeg I got Jets plates, cause they didn't have Wings plates....I asked. -
Winnipeg re-signs RFA D Zach Bogosian to 7yr/36m contract
Z Winged Dangler replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Bogosian has been steadily improving over the past 3 seasons once he started getting ice time. He had a wrist injury and then came back and played awesome. He's got a cannon from the point on the PP as well. He'd be the perfect guy for the Wings... Same goes for Wheeler. He'll likely be around a point per game this season. The only problem with the Jets is they need Jokinen's contract to expire, which it will after this season and they need to spend that money on the #1 centre that they're missing. Both signings will be very good for the Jets long term and it shows that Jets management wants core players like Bogo and Wheeler in Winnipeg as cornerstones, and those are very good ones. If any trades are made in the future with the Jets D, it'll likely include Enstrom over any of those other guys. Especially with Trouba set to make the team. -
Every team needs a shutdown line. Nash is horrific on the defensive side of the game whereas Lucic is not bad and he has some chemistry with Bergeron. Ladd is one of the best pure competitors in the NHL. There's a reason he has 2 Stanley Cup rings cause he's a workhorse and he was the guys that drove the 3rd line on the SC champion teams. He's like Helm with less speed, but more goal scoring ability.

Pierre McGuire's past that NBC doesn't want you to know about
Z Winged Dangler replied to evilmrt's topic in General
Probably why half of his actual knowledge about the players is which schools they went to. All his scouting is done at recess. -
As impressed as I am and how much I like Abdelkader, if Tuzzi is healthy, he's a better option for the top line to play with Dats and Z. That would give Abs the chance to get back to grinding and hitting on a line that does that and Tuzzi would bring everything and more than Abdelkader on the top line.

No to Kesler for sure, Ryan and Yandle.

Steckel didn't blindside Crosby. They were both looking away from where they were skating. Steckel is just 5 inches taller, hence Crosby's head hit shoulder. Maybe a bit off topic, not that it matters around here, but that one needed correcting. And Hedman braced him into the glass, they just hit a stantion. Crosby was injured on the Steckel hit and from repeated hard hits. If you're a smaller player like Crosby and you're getting hit by guys that are 6'3 all the time, your head gets rattled whether it's the primary point of contact or not. I'm Crosby's size, I know full well.

Ask Lindros or LaFontaine, they probably don't even remember......their names.

"And as Team Canada executive director Steve Yzerman put it: 'There will be more of a premium placed on skating.'" And going by that, Nash does not make my team. And I will explain guys that don't make my version of team Canada. Stamkos-Crosby-St. Louis Perry-Getzlaf-Tavares Giroux-Toews-E.Staal Lucic-Bergeron-Ladd Carter/Couture Pietrangelo-Weber Keith-Seabrook Doughty-M.Staal Boyle/Alzner Luongo-Crawford-Smith Forwards - I like the idea of keeping Stamkos/St.Louis together and having Crosby centre the 2 of them. That is a very dangerous line where you never know if Stamkos will be the triggerman or if the other 2 will surprise with the shot or drive to the net when the D spreads out to cover Stamkos. 2nd line keeps chemistry with a speedy dangler added to the mix. 3rd line has a Selke style shutdown centre with a big body in Staal for the cycle and another triggerman in Giroux. That line would have speed, size and has 3 forwards that are great on the cycle. 4th line, that's just a dirty shutdown line. Bergeron, another Selke finalist will be the defensive zone faceoff king and with Lucic and Ladd hitting everything in sight and adding 4th line scoring, team Canada could have a better element than throwing out a disappearing act Shark line this time around. Cuts: Neal - nothing more than a good shot. He's normally lazy, doesn't battle enough and isn't a strong enough skater to get into his shooting positions on the large ice in a timely manner. Hall/Eberle - Both really good players who would be even better on the large ice, but they are both not strong enough and aren't the go-to guys they were in Jr which is shown in Edmonton's playoff appearances lately. Thornton/Nash - Both lack the intensity to make this squad. Both float a lot and I think they would both suffer on the big ice. Defense - I kept to the system of having OFD/DFD or OFD/TWD and not loading up on OFD like an idiot and sacrificing D to try and outscore teams that may have equivalent forwards to us. USA, Sweden, Russia...we don't want to trade goals with them especially if Luongo fails in goal. I added in Boyle and Alzner as my extras to have an OFD and a DFD ready to jump in depending on who would go down. Cuts: Bouwmeester/Hamhuis/Phaneuf/Vlasic - Alzner is higher on my list cause of his outstanding defensive game and he's my extra DFD. Subban/Letang - Both horrific in the D zone. I don't want that anywhere near the Norris let alone an olympic team defending the best the rest of the world has to offer. ALL of the Dmen I chose above have a superior D zone game to them essentially canning them from my team. I hope like hell neither of them get a spot. Yzerman should know better being one of the best 2-way forwards ever to play the game. Goal - Luongo will be on fire this year, unfortunately though cause I hate the Cansucks. He will take the #1 G-spot and let everyone know he's the best goalie in Canada not named Marty Brodeur, whom apparently isn't invited, though Price is??? Cuts: Which brings me to Price. He's been MAF like the past couple years, which I'm fine with cause eff the Habs... I don't want that inconsistency anywhere close to the olympics. Everyone on the team I picked is a strong skater, and knows how to battle and win hockey games. The last thing I want to see is a team that's 100% balls to the wall offense, cause that team will lose to USA or Sweden whom have teams that are pretty close to as strong, but with as good if not better goalies in Quick and Lundqvist. We need skill, size and DEFENSE! If we don't have the role players that keep the puck out of the net, it'll be 2006 all over again. At least this time, Pronger won't have his own lounge area in the penalty box.

That's cause most of the guys that were signed were given money as though the cap hadn't even dropped. GM's are still handing out large amounts of money and there's none left to sign the leftovers. Half or more of the teams are trying to shed salary including our Wings, so no one can give these guys what they're asking for.
-
Only downfall I see for the Americans is your centremen seem kind of weak for an Olympic team. Everywhere else is insanely strong. Gonna be hard for the crew to cut guys from that roster. I'm not seeing DeKeyser make it this time around, and with guys like Callahan and Brown, Abdelkader's chance of making the team is slim as those guys do the same thing as he does, but have more scoring talent in their arsenal. Howard will be #2 behind Quick.

Q is signed for thankfully only 1 more year. Just enough time to fast track Sproul, our futurw #1 dman. People can quote me for future reference if anyone thinks I'm out to lunch...but I'm calling it now.

Red Wings popularity in Detroit/Michigan
Z Winged Dangler replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Personally I think that football has strategy, as long as the dummies on the field listen to their coach. Some teams D is really good and you need some trick plays to break the line which makes it interesting sometimes. The only kinda boring sport I watch on occasion is golf, but that's not very often anymore. Curling i'm not really big on. All the "hurry hard" grinds on you pretty quick. It does require skill, I'll give you that, but not my kind of sport. There's just something about hockey that seems so much more pure compared to everything else. You can be successful as so many different kinds of player. You can be a bull in a china shop like Lucic, a dirty dangler like Datsyuk that has more moves than Michael Jackson, a hard nosed little s*** disturber like Brad Marchand or a militant like sniper in Stamkos and you can all be successful in your own way. And then when you get duos like Dats-Z, Stamkos-St. Louis, Backstrom-Ovechkin and so on, you see some real magic on the ice. There's nothing better than hockey, getting to OT in the playoffs, game 7 with everything on the line. Seeing that 3rd or 4th line player being a hero for just one night.... Now that's a sport. Aren't the best college hockey programs in Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota? -
Team Canada is run by Red Wings and former Red Wings. Yzerman as director of operations, Babcock as coach and Holland as GM I believe. And everyone on TSN in "Your Call" is blowing Quennville hard saying that he should be on there, and maybe even replace Babcock as head coach. Maybe next time if Canada doesn't win it this time, but Quennville, just like Bylsma won with teams full of 1st round picks after their team tanked for a decade to get the picks. Babcock has a team full of guys most of which worked their bags off just to get to the NHL and coached them within 1 goal of eliminating the mighty Hawks. People need to know there's a difference between "coaching" and just plain old running lines. Babcock is a great coach, Quennville is a good coach that relies on 2 lines.

Cause you're not supposed to walk on it. You know where it is right in the middle of the room. Though when I think about it more, I understand your question as you may be looking down to avoid the logo. I think we're getting away from the main point though, Bieber is a dumbass and he was likely told on the way in to Chicago don't step on the logo. I think Patrick Kane made reference on twitter or something too about someone stepping on the logo and called him a D-bag.

Monday, November 4th, 2013. The Wings will roll into Winnipeg and I shall acquire tickets through some game of chance....somehow, I will attend that game.

That's todays music industry for you. No talent hacks dressing like derps making bad club music with lyrics that don't make a s***'s bit of sense. If I were the NHL team, I'd padlock the dressing room and tell him he's in the visitors room, or a janitor closet. You can have the big boy room when you write a song that lasts the ages and doesn't fizzle out when people stop using the words you say. 2 tops. He'll grow a bad dirt stache and the pre-teens will fall out of love with the little clown. It's a respect thing. The dressing room is the teams sanctuary. It teaches you to keep your head up and look where you're going.

New NHL divisions, names, and playoff format

It'll change again when the league expands to 32 teams. That's why the league doesn't care that there's 14/16. -
Nuh-uh dude. I showed Sir Crosby so much love that when I pre-ordered NHL 14 from Gamestop and then laughed at the Fathead sticker sheet, I had to put the Crosby sticker on the lid of my kitchen garbage can. Who else on here can say they have a Sidney Crosby garbage can? Seriously though, when it says specifically "Original 6" he has no place in the equation. Same would be said if even Stamkos was in there, or Ladd from the Jets, 2 of my personal favourites....6 is not 7. The main problem is that no matter what, he's shoved down our throats even when the numbers don't add up.

That's what I was thinking when i mentioned LaFontaine for Buffalo/NYI. Him and Mogilny were insane together. Especially in NHL games on Sega Now they can't even get grazed by a guy without playing dead. Hang that on the wall for goalies to see.

Or Doan's. I for one would do not upstanding citizen type things to his smug face. Kovalchuk's Mount Rushmore is definitely in the KHL where his heart and family are, or he'd be on the Atlanta one along with Heatley and 2 other Thrashers alumni. As a Winnipegger, I think of Jets as Hawerchuk and then Selanne in his rookie season scoring 76 goals, 1 game I was at he scored 4 goals and the Jets won 7-6 and young Khabibulin, Zhamnov, fit Tkachuk, Housley, Numminen, pre-Wings Essensa, $1 Draper, Tie Domi and laughing at Igor Ulanov. The Jets are in no way the Coyotes. They are their own independent failure which the players and the team moved from Winnipeg to become a new franchise, the Coyotes. The Winnipeg Jets were gone for 16 years or so, and then we got a new franchise here, to say, when Atlanta lost their team, unfortunately for them as we here know how it feels. So I like to think that there was just a 16 year hiatus between Jets seasons, and the Coyotes franchise is 16 years old. Not to derail your thread though, cause I think it's really cool. And for the Leafs, I'd throw in an argument for Doug Gilmour to be on there. And LaFontaine would be on Buffalo or NYI.
-
Like the thread but i think Atlanta could be an asterisk and Winnipeg and Phoenix should be 100% separate. Jets would be Hawerchuk, Selanne, Steen and Bobby Hull from the WHA days. Coyotes...i guess Doan, Roenick, Tkachuk and Numminen

Red Wings popularity in Detroit/Michigan

It's a pre-requisite for being a Dallas Cowboy is it not? -
Yeah I read the part about canning the stuff from 1962 and that other crap. Newsflash buddy, they won in 1967. A guy who owns the team or whatever that dude is should know and honour the franchises past, not cast it aside. The Leafs are 2nd all time with 12 Cup wins. What's next, take the banners and retired numbers down? Phaneuf can change from #3 to 93. Who's this Gilmour guy?
