    This or That

Slovakia, I like the way it sounds. And when I hear it I think Hossa. Wearing a slightly too small dress to prom or spending money to buy a new one last minute?
  2. With that picture of Franzen, all I can think is "I love all your teeth".

Best Wings Goal of 09/10 regular season?

I don't really like the goal from Miller where he superman's it. It looks cool and all, but he "flew" after he scored. I like Franzen's goal better where he's actually in the air when he soots the puck. Not this year but I think this goal didn't get enough attention. My favorite from this year would be Hank's buzzer beater! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV_2uMlYD5w

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

That's definitely a huge part of it. You don't see anyone who's bashing Hossa mentioning that Stuart's 2 turnovers led to both Talbot's goals. Bottom line is it's a team sport and there's no way you can blame the loss of a 7 game series on 1 player. Blame it on a grueling 7 game series with big tough Anaheim as well as travel out there. Blame it on Pittsburgh having more rest after a sweep. Blame it on back to back SCF games 1 and 2. More than 1 factor is involved, so to blame 1 player is ridiculous.

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

No, not to me anyway. There are some fans who might think that though. I think it depends on the situation the team is in. If you can afford to sit out you should sit out, but if your team is desperate for bodies and it's possible to play through, you should try to play through. But you can't really win either way. If you sit out people will say toughen up and play through it, but if you play through and don't play well, you suck.

    Playoff Superstitions?

Ok, so after reading your guys' superstition, I'll explain my biggest one. I have to medal at the state track meet and here's why. Freshman year(06-07) my track season ended May 22. May 22 was also the Wings last game, eliminated in 6 by Anaheim. Sophomore year(07-08) I made it to the State Final. Wings make the Cup Final. I get a medal. They get the Cup. Junior year(08-09) I make it to state again. Wings make it to Cup Finals again. I don't medal. Wings don't get the Cup. This year will test the theory once and for all. So, am I crazy or is that just a really, really weird coincidence?

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

I'm no expert, but I learned about rotator cuff tears in athletic training class. According to people who've had them they're so painful you can't even put on a shirt, brush your teeth, or sleep. He did all that and play fricking hockey. And to go off of what Mindfly was saying, if he had sat out he'd still get blamed for being a ***** and not fighting through it like the rest of the team. I don't think you can really use that. That'd be like saying Yzerman wasn't really injured because he played all those games on a bad knee.

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

I find the argument "The loss of a 7 game series can be blamed on 1 player" to be a bit tiring and pointless myself. But that might just be me.

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

Dear, I just wrote a novel trying to explain that. Apparently it doesn't matter how many times it's said, people will continue to blame him for everything.

    History will be made commercial

Yeah, I like it better as "Stevie" I don't know many people who call him "Stevie Y" outside of on the internet. I don't really mind that they put that in there 'cause it kinda shows how you can relate to him and he's the kinda guy you could have a beer with or something and call him "Stevie". I get chills when I see the commercial, but then I think "Well, we lost to Colorado". It could have been better if they put a Stevie moment from when we won the Cup. I still like it though. And some of these fan made ones are amazing!!!

    Any Word on Hossa's injury?

Apparently not. I mean, according to LGW he was the only player on the ice the last 2 games so everything must be his fault. Yes. Because if they acknowledge that, they have no one to blame for losing. So because he has 2 Cups it's OK for him to play poorly while hurt, but that's not allowed for Hossa? If you're using the 2 Cups as proof that Datsyuk's a winner does that proof really matter if he's not scoring? "It's OK that he's not helping the team win now because he has 2 Stanley Cups so obviously he knows how to win. But that Hossa guy has no Cups so he must not know how to win." Hudler and Sammy both had Cups but didn't do much in the Finals, but I guess according to you that's OK because they each have a Cup. The number of Cups shouldn't be an excuse for a poor performance. Maybe I just don't understand, perhaps you could explain that to me. Usually I agree with you, but not this time. I don't see how you can not forgive him. Yet again, it wasn't all his fault. It's a teams sport. You know he created chances and got assists(3), so obviously he wasn't a ghost. He might not have been able to score, but he was still helping the team. When you're hurt it doesn't matter how much you make, you're still injured. He tried to play trough it and helped the team the best he could despite that. You can also say BOTH Brad Stuart turnovers to Talbot in game 7 just might have been a factor, but yet again, it's so much easier to blame someone not on the team. I'm sorry I just don't see how some of you can put all the blame on one player. It's a team sport. It doesn't hinge on one player or one game, that's why it's best of 7. Each game is different. 2 goals in the last 2 games isn't a Hossa problem. It's an offense problem and injury problem. You guys question his heart, but he knew what was at stake. He knew the ridicule and embarrassment he'd face if he lost, and you can bet he was doing everything in his power to avoid it. Yeah, maybe you never liked him too much, but for however short a time he was a Wing. It's sad to know how fickle these fans can be. The fans cheering him on during his fight against Ryan Suter last season are the same ones booing him when he has the puck this season. Wings fan truly are spoiled. We're so used to having amazing players that as soon as someone doesn't perform he gets crucified. "I don't care if you have 2 broken legs, I want you to run this race and I expect you to get first. If you don't I'll blame us losing on you." Makes sense right? Whatever, it's not like you guys are gonna think about it any differently, you'll still go on blaming him...rant over.

    Norris Talk

I wish Nick could continue to win it, but I don't think they'll let him break Orr's record. I don't like that Green is getting so much consideration, yeah he's a good defenseman and can throw in nice goals, but I haven't really seen him defend like Nick. Whatever.

    Playoff Superstitions?

Question: If the Wings lose in the playoff do you guys blame yourselves for not sticking to the playoff superstition? Just wondering. Anyway, mine is to wear red on game days and a Wings shirt to track practice. I know I did it in 08, but can't remember if I did it in 09. :/ Also, I have to medal at the state track meet. I figured out that how far I go in track mirrors how far they go in the playoffs. It's really weird and freaks me out.

Booth out the rest of the year

I always try to root for the guys from Michigan, and then I found out he went to my school and I cheered for him even more. He actually came to my school last year! We made him a big get well soon card when he missed those 45 games...guess we'll have to make another one.

    Jim playfair snaps at

Do you mean this game? At about :50. There's a gif of it, but I can't find it. Yeah, the players on Playfair's right are like "wtf he took my stick." and the ones on his left are laughing and probably hoping he doesn't take their sticks next.

    Pierre McGuire scares Rob Ray

OMG that slow-mo laugh is petrifying! And why is he standing so close to that guy!!! What a creeper. Edit: I posted before I saw the 2nd video.

    babcock death stare

Has he not more than redeemed himself? I don't see anyone still ragging on Stuart for Game 7 of the SCF. The Nick, Howard, and Eaves ones were SPOT ON! This one might have been my favorite though... I recall him doing that to a certain Brooks Orpik in the '08 Final.

You should never wish death on anyone...

I don't know about you guys, but I pray for Bettman... I pray his breaks go out running down a hill, I pray a flower pot falls from a windowsill and knocks him in the head like I'd like to. I pray his birthday comes and nobody calls. I pray he's flying high, when his engine stalls. I pray all his dreams never come true. Wherever you are Bettman, I pray for you.

    DET-PIT Post-Game Discussion

Crosbitch was doing that crap throughout the whole game! A little bit after Fil's goal, Talbot was pushing him, so Fil pushed back. Then ***** McBitcherson comes from behind Fil and gives him a jab while he's preoccupied with Talbot. There are very few people I hate as much as crosby.

    Favorite Red Wings swede

IDK, this is tough. Nick is obviously the best player, but Franzen is clutch and I love his teeth. Also Lilja has a beard that puts King Leonidas to shame. IDK, I guess Nick would have to win.

    Red Wings Archived Games Index

This is the best thread ever ever ever! My DRV deleted my saved games, but now I have them back. You're posting games from 07/08 too right? I have to check the date of that game against the Blues when Raffy laid down that body slam. I'm thinking it's March 5, '08. Hmm...whatever, I just love this thread.

    Look out for the Wings

He made some pretty good points, but Babs is right they need to play a full 60 mins if the want to ninja a playoff spot, which I think they can do. On a side note, that picture of Drapes is pretty intimidating.
