Z and D for the C

I like Abby but he's totally out of place in the top 6, as is Helm and Mantha. Not saying that Mantha won't be there eventually but this team is fighting for it's life, a rookie with <10 games under his belt shouldn't be on a top spot in the team.

I'm not saying lose on purpose to get a better draft pick. I'm saying it's like all the wings care about is making the playoffs just to extend the streak instead of to win in the playoffs. This team is complacent.

Yes, I do. I'm so sick of hearing about the stupid streak. Who gives a s*** about the streak? It's like that's all the wings are playing for. The streak means jack s*** when this team, even if they do somehow make it into the playoffs can't hold any lead and has no compete level. The streak means nothing when we'll get dominated in the first round. Miss the playoffs and start playing to win in the playoffs instead of just extending the streak and calling it a day. They say they're not playing just to make the playoffs and that they want to win the cup but it's complete bulls***.

What is Howard doing that makes his team not score any goals? When he was pulled it was 0-4 and the team was playing like complete s***. Saying that all four of those goals are saves from a "top 10" goalie is completely ridiculous. A) Like you're psychic and B) All goals let in goals like Howard let in. Sure he wasn't amazing but his team was terrible in front of him. I think Mrazek has been slightly better but jesus some of you blow everything out of proportion.

lol? Helm and Abby need to be out of the top 6 and Tatar and Nyquist need to be up there. They're simply not good enough to play against other teams' top lines. Sure they have the rare good game, but neither of those lines are doing anything game in-game out. Helm can't make a single play. s*** even Datsyuk just turns it over 90% of the time. Not worried about Howard. The team was leaving him out to try and it's not like he had any goal support whatsoever. He let in some unlucky goals, that's it.

I wouldn't trade Larkin for anyone in the league without some incentive (like a pick or another player). Why do it? It's his first time playing in the NHL and he's leading our team in goals. He's 19.

Wings schedule the past week: Friday: Game Saturday: Game Sunday: Off Monday: Game Tuesday: Off Wednesday: Game Thursday: Off Friday: Game Saturday: Game 6 games in 9 days. With all the back to backs, the Wings really have a s***ty schedule this season. I think their record would be better if this crap wasn't like this, and I think it's kind of bulls***.

Teams always have way more shot attempts than actual shots, it's the way of the game. The problem isn't their shot accuracy it's that they have terrible possession numbers. They're at the bottom of the league in shots attempts per game as well and it's because they never have the puck because they can't complete a pass 80% of the time.

I don't know what some people think but I don't think that our rough streak has been a result of poor effort or lack of or not trying, being lazy, not skating, etc. It's just that every time a player on our team gets the puck he does something stupid with it. The is no poise or patience with the puck. I've said this before here but it's like anytime a defenseman gets the puck on his stick he goes for a hail mary pass through the neutral zone and it is working terrible, they never seem to pass it behind to slow down the play and make a controlled break out. Our defenseman don't hold onto the puck for more than 1 second in most cases. We not passing the puck so much as throwing it as quickly to a teammate as quickly as possible. We throwing it away way too easily in the offensive zone instead of having some patience and making a good play. That is what the problem seems to be to me. The question I have is why is this happening. The scariest answer is our new coach. Is he instructing our players to get rid of the puck as soon as possible? Obviously this is worrying because I don't want to throw our new much anticipated coach under the bus so soon but it's possible that while his systems worked in lower levels, they're noting working so great in the NHL and hopefully he can adjust. Or maybe our players just have no confidence, but then why the sudden change from going 6-0-2 in the preseason and 3-0 to start? I think until our players start making better decisions with the puck we'll continue to struggle. I don't think it's a lack of effort, I think it's a lack of patience.

Puck movement is 100% of the Red Wings problem right now. Their defense has actually been good but they're really bad at getting the puck out of the zone and through the neutral zone which is giving the other team the puck and they spend too much time in their own zone. They're not generating any offense because they can't get the puck to each other and sustain some offensive pressure. This is the problem. If they can start moving the puck better they'll start winning games. This is also most likely a coaching issue with respect to new systems. Coaching either needs to make adjustments or players need to start getting used to/better at the system. Most likely a combination of both. If they can fix the puck movement issue they'll be a powerhouse.

s***ty game in Edmonton but at least the weekend was good. 3 points out of 4 with our s***ty schedule is something to be proud of.

So would it normally just remain 4 on 4 after a powerplay until there is a whistle?

There is just absolutely not patience to their break out right now. Maybe it's no confidence or maybe it's Blashill's system.

Has anyone noticed that the Wings can't even complete a pass? It's like the second they get the puck on their stick they just have to throw it to the player furthest up the ice. I'm worried it's just Blash's system at this point. The players are hustling, they're not being lazy, they're just making terrible s***ty plays. Defensive zone coverage is awful and no one has any puck support. All other teams have to do is rush the puck carrier and we do something stupid with it and turn it over every time.

I really feel bad for him, I was actually excited to see how he does this season, I was optimistic. He seemed really energized to play in the few games he was in. He shouldn't play again until he goes a few months without symptoms instead of just a couple weeks.

At the very lest he would have never been playing with Z on the first line. I'm so glad we have a new coach. It looked like a different Wings team. They hustled their asses off and looked truly hungry. I can't wait for the rest of this season.

Horn? God damn better be moving. I'd also love to see the same jumbotron. Or at least for the new one to kind of a throw back to the current one. I don't care about the boards themselves but I hope they're just as bouncy.

I think he has a good point but Detroit is in a unique situation. A) it's more than just a new arena (it's a whole new neighborhood) and B) It's going in a blighted area. It's not just replacing something in the city, it's adding to the city. That is the difference.

Before that it was Philadelphia, when Lilja played for them.

We'll also see if they put Green and Kronwall on different units. I think that'd be pretty great, especially with the 1 defense system. And then when we really need it we could do Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Nyquist, Kronwall, Green. I assume 100% powerplay success rate with that unit.

I really hope our new coaches study what made our powerplay so great last season and replicate what our old coaches did. I'm pretty excited for Green.

He'll probably be signed at the end of the summer. Holland just doesn't want to sign him yet in case something else comes up that prevents signing him.

So pissed about this entire Weiss situation. Holland screwed up by signing him over Filppula (yeah yeah I know I still miss him), Babcock managed him like s*** two years in a row and Holland should have just bought him out when he had the chance to do it without penalty (admittedly I'm not sure if we could have bought him out without penalty).
