Red Wings Corner - Blog Spot - First Quarter Grade ----- pretty much hit the nail on the head for the most part. Franzen/Hudler/Drake/Kronner/Meech grades are a little off IMO, Franzen gets a C, and he has done nothing really. Hudler is good, but not that good. and babs feels the same way by having him on the 4th line. Drake. D? common he's having a bad stretch, but when he is in the game, he makes a diffrence the way Downey does. Kronner/Meech - Solid defensivly. have good offensive skill, both have impressed me more then cheli as of late. Overall i agree. hard to believe Lilja leeds our team in hits.. something must be wrong

I liked how Drake played today. Hudler looked great to bad no dice but 1 assist. Franzen and Sammy didnt look bad. Sucks that Koko got injured, but im going to be syked about Drake/Downey/Hudler. tha'd be sick. but i almost bet ellis gets the nod. Overall i was impressed by, Kronner/Hudler the most.

He worked in St Louis.. It's not working here. When he put his EGO aside and decided to run a lil more after some public scrutiny his offence worked alot better. His offence might work well with Warner/Bulger But Kitna isnt a martz QB, Martz has the leadership and toughness not the accuracy or arm power or pocket awareness. Next year, we need Stanton to step up and show that he is our new qb or we are destned for anotehr lack luster season with kitna under helm. This years offseason will make or break our team for years to come. Offseason we need to stop signing DEPTH offensive lineman and get a solid anchor for the Tackle Position. and a good replacement for Woody. Scott and Peterman are coming around but im not banking on them to be studs. Sign- Faneca for our LG. Move Mulitalo to RG. Sign Either Flozell Adams - Jordon Gross - Kwame Harris, Plug them into RT. and continue to groom Peterman andScott. In later rounds in the draft we should snag a good developmental, RB and TE for the offence. A Elusive Speedster at RB and either a Blocking TE or a Big Play TE. Earlier rounds we need to draft DE/LB/CB. This year LB's are pretty DEEP and CB we can find a good one in the 2nd. DE is top heavy. so we'll probaly end up with another developmental DE like 5-0 was. Overall, this offseason is make or break for us. we have holes. our team held up there end of the bargain this year, but role players turned starters arent going to work all yead.

4th Line Minutes? how many points do you expect? Broken Cheekbone, How good are you going to be? I dont think thats what holland is doing, If he didnt want downey in, he wouldnt put him in. he would put Ellis in. Obviously he knows what downey brings to the table. But i dont understand why he puts downey on waivers instead of ellis.. beats the heck outta me. I probbaly dont understand the waiver system or something.

Drake. I wouldnt mind like 60/40 Drake/Downey switching off and on. BUT. Downey is a role player, you can ask any thing else of him Drake. Previous NHL Captain, Knows how to lead, Knows the hockey in's and outs alot better then Downey, Drake provides more then just Grit, i guarentee if you had drake in on 4th line all year he'd get 15-20 Points. You put Downey in all yaer he would get maybe 5-10.. Drake is better. But my man love for Downey still exists.

McFadden has been doing this while sharing the load with Felix Jones. another 1st round talent. if you can muster up TD's and Yards while sharing time with Felix you are something special. By all means, i love mike hart, he is great. BUT. he has missed games. and the OSU game, he proved in valuable. He has been by far my favorite sports athlete of all time ahead of Darren Mccarty. Because HART is the perfect mix of greatness and a mouth that wont quit. McFadden wont get it, but sports writers are sold that he is great, and will glorify him no matter what. and will put him in the heisman race ne way. which is the only reason i mentioned him as a contester over Hart. Dont worry about this.. just know that if TEBOW isnt the heisman winner, that the heisman trophy is a hoax.

If we loose to the packers on thursday consider our season over and our team morale in the s***ter. 7-9 is what we got to look forward to. and another Mid teen draft pick at that. If we win, we will be 7-4 and all we have to do is go 3-2 the rest of the way, which shouldnt be to hard. Our main problem is our blocking. and the packers Biamila and Kapman are superb at rushing the pacer. On paper they have a great defence. If it means leaving a TE/RB to block. and only having a 3 wide set. so be it. if it means RUNNING THE BALL to set up the pass a little bit more. SO BE IT. when we are a little more balanced. we are alot more dangerous then trying to get a 20 yard grab 1/3 times.. I'am not a martz doubter, But i do got some concerns with why we arnt running the ball atleast 15-20 times a game to keep the other team from just TEEING off on us.

I have mixed feelings about Lloyd, I loved him as a person, but as a coach lately he hasnt been pulling his weight. I'am glad that he took this year to groom a less talented bunch for the next coach, instead of Throwing a new coach into the mix with 8-9? new starters on defence. Ii admire that, But i also hate how lately he has folded agaisnt teams like OSU and Bowl Games in general. As much as Les Miles would seem to be a great replacement for Lloyd. I really want a new style of ball in Michigan, Which i cant see happening they are so stuck in there ways, which makes me think it wont happen. Brian Kelly would be awesome, His offence is a proven winner.. and with the recievers we have coming back next year. with or without manningham. the lack of a stud RB and a great young QB in mallet. His offence would be great. and hopefully English would stay as a Defensive Cord and i think we would make a run next year even with a less then stellar group on Offence. But realisticly. why would a coach hop between 3 teams within 2 years? CMU/Cinn/MI? i dont think he would, unless he felt that he couldnt bring Cinci to the National Champship. Overall, Give me Kelly we will have a coach for 10-15 Years. Give me Miles and ill still be happy

This is a fine example of sports writers taking what he said out of context. Loosing to ULM? or was it ULL? IDK, and frankly IDC. I just hate seeing a great coach recieving unneeded critisism. I understood what he said perfectly. and its a fact that sports writers want to stir up drama, and want to see "spotlight" people "suffer" in a weird kinda way. my two cents. and Saban has done a good job at Bama, and a few years from know he will have built a power house.

It was just a statement, that Kopecky is doing better then Franzen and Hudler is doing better then flipper ATM, so might as well milk them while they are hot. and Koko not deserving 2nd line. i kinda agree yet i kinda dont.for a few reasons. Franzen dosnt deserve it, and hasnt shown any improvment to say other whise. Kopecky got scratched, Babs told him to be more Physical. next thing you know BAM he is physical. Koko not only can play physical, but has a good offensive mind.. and his skills should warrant 2nd line consideration wheter he "deserves it" or not.. Expecially past Franzen. If not only for 1 game to see how it go's. cant be any worse then what Franz is putting up now can it? i think not.
