Ok, I agree with Holland that we need a top pairing Dman. We will not win a Cup with Kronner and Ericsson as top pairing.
-
I hear ya, but next year will be 10 yrs already!
-
Mark my words. One more season then Babcock moves upstairs, Blashill moves behind Detroit's bench.
-
Weiss' day just went from bad to worse...
-
Anyone missing Brunner?
-
I see what your saying, but I think we need a number 1 Dman: Kronner is a great number 2, Erock and DeKeyser as second pairing.

Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings

St Louis' wife is from Ct, basically a suburb of NY. They live there in the off season, and he trains in NY. The plot thickens... -
Weiss - who would take him next season and does he have a full NTC
T.Low replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Vancouver will be moving Kesler next summer, and will definitely need a center in return. Weiss in a pkge w/ Andy, and whatever, gives them a solid 2c. Personally, I've seen Kesler score a load of goals on the Sedin line at wing, so I'd go something like Kesler Datsyuk Nyquist Zetterberg Legwand Franzen Tatar Sheahan Jurco Miller Helm Abby Glendening/Alfie Pulkkinen will get plenty of windshield time driving in from GR filling in for injurious bastards. -
Maybe make the Abby/Jurco switch at the beginning of the third if we have a lead...?

Listen to Nick's speach on the computer, he's really picked up his Swedish accent again since being home.

Class on display on Vancouver's Team 1040 all day. Every sports update throughout the day they mentioned Nick Lidstrom Night at the Joe tonite, they brought on guys like Ray Ferraro etc to talk about Lidstrom, ( Scotty Bowman had to reschedule for tomorrow) and every radio station give away today was to the 5th caller in honor of Nik. They are fans, they miss watching him play, and really appreciate what he brought to the game. Edit: Then they went back to roasting Gillis, Torts, and the Aquilinis!

Red Wings have Recalled Pulkkinen from Grand Rapids
T.Low replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Sadly awesome to watch him skating around picking up his chicklets off the ice looking like my 3 yr old walking around picking up her M&Ms off the kitchen floor. Way to take one for the team, Alf. -
AND all this talk about tanking makes me wonder how many on LGW have actually played sports. Is Holland supposed to tell some of the world's most competitive athletes and coaches, ( Babcock, Alfredsson, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Bertuzzi , Tatar, Nyquist, Howard etc) that he is going to rob them of their chance to reach their life's goal, their entire reason for existence up to this point in their lives, the chance to make the playoffs , their chance to be the under dog and do what everyone told them they could not do, against all odds win the Stanley Cup, that everything it means to be a Red Wing will end on their watch? (Grandpa, tell me what it was like being on the team that tanked and ended one of the most Golden eras in all of hockey).Holland: "Alfie, thanks for your sacrifices but I'm shutting 'er down so we can move up and gamble on a higher pick that we may see in 5-6 yrs if it works out or not. Thanks for pissing away everything you've worked for including your old friends and teammates and uprooting your family for nothing. " "Andy, Tomas, Gus, Riley, Glenny, Danny, I've decided to set you up for failure this year. So, I do not want you to build on your Calder Cup experience. I want you to get away from making the conscious decision every morning when you wake up to be great. I want you to move away from greatness, be a little less than the guy across from you on each and every shift. It may be humiliating at times, it may destroy character deep inside you, you may feel like you are not playing for your teammates, but trust me, years from now, we might be better." Not sure how you guys think this is supposed to work in real life.

Team 1040 says (Canuck goalie) Eddie Lack broke the news to Kesler that he was going to Pittsburgh, then of course it didn't happen. Kesler then said he was going to fire pucks at Lacks head every chance he gets until he's traded. :-)

It's nights like this (especially after picking up Patch Legwand) when you really realize how big the shoes are that Nyquist, Tatar, and Dekeyser have to fill. Will the torch be passed from Datsyuk and Zetterberg, or will it finally blow out...

Who will have a better career as a Red Wing: Weiss or Legwand?
T.Low replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
I can't imagine keeping both: I still cling to this fantasy that Weiss, Eaves, Jarnkrok, and a 3 to Vancouver brings Kesler to a real estate agent near you...not sure why my wife keeps saying "De Nile ain't just a River in Africa". So, I'm gonna go with Letsgo Legwand. If there is one thing I've learned while living in The Vancouver market, it's that Gillis is a slow learner so he won't recognize another David Booth deal when it's on the table staring him in the face. I've emailed Weiss a link to Louongo's house for sale on Craigslist. (Odd that it's fully furnished including clothes, garage full of expensive cars, groceries, half eaten bagel on the kitchen counter, looks like some left in a hurry!) Yeah, my head is still spinning from yesterday . -
I'm thinking a top 2...

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Juri and Nill both said Andy has better hands than Mule...I'm no scout but I certainly haven't seen that yet, either. -

Lose some weight and upgrade into a Lidstrom jersey, you'll feel better. :-) -

Which, IMO, means we still have Weiss as a tradeable asset next summer. The Canucks will move Kesler next summer -

There's definitely half a pint of beer in the pint glass: wether it's half full or half empty is up to you. I'm going with half full. A playoff season missed does not help Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, Andy, Weiss , Jurco, and Smith gain valuable playoff experience. Legwand helps us get by until the Calvary returns, then once the playoffs begin, as we saw last year, all bets are off. If healthy, we've actually got a damn good lineup. Somehow, with no top 20 picks since 1991, our prospects managed to win the Calder Cup and produce the Butterfield winner . Jarnkrok is no Pulkkinen, and it's not like we don't have guys in the pipeline ahead and behind him. -

I saw Jarnkrok last weekend vs Abbotsford Heat. He was everywhere including all over the scoresheet. However, he's no Nyquist or Tatar. If we can resign Legwand, trade Weiss and...oh, hell, I don't know... -

Team 1040 said the same.If KH was willing to part with Jarnkrok, I'd hope we'd have Vanek.
