Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"
T.Low replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Wow, not sure what you guys are complaining about. The rest of the league passed on him because he is a known slacker. We thought we found a gem, but what a surprise, he's a slacker. So yes, after high hopes it's very very disappointing. He's obviously the type of guy you need to bust all the way down to nothing, before you can build him up to his potential. Chances are he'll never play hard enough in NA, so he'll make a decent living playing in Europe. I sure hope I am wrong, but Im not. -
I live 2500 miles or so away, I noticed some construction going on. :-) http://photos.mlive.com/5628/gallery/crews_prep_new_red_wings_arena/index.html#/0 http://www.detroityes.com/mb/showthread.php?19651-What-is-going-on-at-Red-Wings-arena-site/page8

Package Weiss/Smith and ? for Jumbo Joe. Tats Datsyuk cole Zetterberg Joe Nyquist Pulks Sheehan Abby Miller Glenny Helm
-
He said point, not goal. he is there to win the corner battles, get the puck bacck to Dats and Tatar to score. Glenny working his arse off could increase possesion time and O zone startss for the first line. If this process results in Glenny gettting 1st or 2nd assist once every other game, (hence 0.5ppg) do you keep him there? Its an interesting line combo: Instead of having Glenny in a shutdown roll vs opponents top line, flanked by Miller/Andy, now hes flanked by Selke winner Datsyuk, two awesome defensive forwards. Add Tatar, and now our shut down duo is now a major offensive threat for opponents O line to worry about. And with Glenny retrieving, Dats stealing and controling the puck with Tatar, oopponents O line may not have any significant time with the puck. Babcock been drinking a lot of coffee, pouring over advanced stats, theorizing innovative line combos?

I like that about him, and that Kronwall is exactly tied with him for goals and assists this year.

IFilp is on Lugano also.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

I'm hoping Zengerle comes up so we have three Z's and a Q: That's gotta be some sort of edge. -
trade Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

It's really this simple. Why is this so hard to see? -
Patrick Kane, out anywhere from a month to rest of the season
T.Low replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
I won't say it was a classic hit from behind. The stick crossed Kane's oblique, with a majority of it occurring at the pant side stripe. His left foot drags and leg goes limp for no understandable reason except that he let it. -
Patrick Kane, out anywhere from a month to rest of the season

Looks like absolutely zero impact to his midsection from the touch. No change in direction or momentum whatsoever. Put me on record stating injury was a result of his embellishment. It's amazing the abuse the Wings were able to withstand last night vs the Kings, yet Kane goes down from that? -
Actually, I've always felt he was smart enough to know exactly what he was doing. He knew exactly which 10 skaters were on the ice at that time.
-
One thing that has always amazed me is how slow he is against the wrap around attempt. It's as if he's convinced they are only going half way around then coming back.

I'm not as think as you drunk I am...(hic!)

But that goalie doesn't even flinch.

I actually have real reasons from my own observations that result in my favorable opinion of Mickey Redmond. A few of them are precisely the reasons you dislike him. You and I simply have different perspectives and want different experiences I totally agree that it's like watching a game with him in a bar and I very much enjoy that aspect of his persona. It's genuine, down home, as if you are sitting watching a game like he's your uncle that actually skated in the nhl. I like the way he comments on penalties, especially compared to other teams color guys. Mickey will often point out that our opponent "Gets two minutes for playing hockey, but we'll take it", whereas other guys take the Homer road and make it sound like it was the most egregious penalty ever as they watch a replay that shows a ghost infraction. I always feel insulted as a viewer when Panger or anyone does that. Mickey is still sharp as a tack when it comes to pointing out things at game speed that I have missed. One example: Countless times he points out a deflection on the goal that I missed, then sure enough you see it on the replay. However, when I watch other teams play I'm dumbfounded at how often they credit the point shot with the goal when the deflection was plain as day and the camera is on the deflector getting congratulated, not the shooter. Then they show the replay and they're surprised as can be at the obvious: "OH!!! It was DEFLECTED". Sigh. Roll eyes. And Mickey tends to point out things that only an nhl player knows, where other "more professional" guys tend to point out things that are obvious to the hockey fan, as if their broadcast is geared toward a least common denominator viewer demographic or something. I enjoy his anecdotal ramblings. For example, Abby being a Muskegon boy. His father Joe Abdelkader always paces back and forth in the living room when the game is on. " You can sit down now, Joe, Justin scored a goal." Believe me, I could go on about how he greatly enhances my Red Wings viewing experience.

Couldn't disagree more. He's the real deal. There is no better guy to replace him with.

I'd think he'd play more than two games with GR.
