The flame idea is pretty cool. Mine's in my avatar but here's the fullsize. Had the original tattoo done over the summer and just had the jersey numbers added about a month ago after the Official Detroit Red Wings Twitter account helped me do a poll that got over 80 replies with fans voting on whose jersey number to get along side of Yzerman's 19 and Lidstrom's 5. Kind of the obvious choice Howe got almost 50% of the votes so his number was added as well. The picture is just after I got it done. The numbers are now the same colour as the rest of the red they were just kind of fresh there haha. I'll try to take a better picture later because this one doesnt really do the colours and depth justice.

I fully expect Mule to score all of his goals for this season tonight.. PS. Love the new GDT look! LETS GO WINGS!

Him and Nyquist were probably the two most impressive players that I noticed at camp. And it's really a no-loss situation. If he plays great then the Wings got a great deal and if he tanks then waive him and ship him off to GR or let someone else deal with him if they want to claim him.

I was expecting 5 games. Not because the hit was THAT bad, but Smith is a low impact player who can be suspended to prove a point. If suspending Smith for 5 games gets the point across to other players then I guess that's what has to be done. Also, it should be noted, from what I read on Twitter, Smith has been assigned to GR and will play there because the Wings want to go with 7D. If anyone on D get's put on the IR then Smith will probably get called up to burn off his suspension.

I don't think Brendan's intent was to hit him in the head, Ben just tried to slip by him and he happened to catch him. This being said I still believe Smith gets suspended. The hit was dangerous, and Smith is a low impact guy that can be suspended to set an example to other players. I would also guess that getting suspended will all but end Smith's chances of making the Wings' roster this year, barring injury, unless he really comes back flying to start the year.

Saw Darren Dreger mentioned this on TSN before the Jets' game and he said it would more likely be in the 7 year range than 10 years.

I noticed that Commie and Brunnstrom arent on the rosters (unless I missed it).. Anyone know why? I could kind of see Brunnstrom not being in if they just want to have contract players in the game, but Commie being out seems weird to me..

Just read from the Wings' twitter feed that they will have a local feed on the Wings' site.

According to the Flyers the webcast is limited geographically due to NHL policy.. Which is completely stupid imo, why wouldn't you want to make hockey available to everyone who wants to see it if you're trying to grow the sport.

I think I read somewhere on Twitter that the Flyers website would be streaming it but I didn't see any note of it on the site myself. In any case, GO WINGS!

From what I have read in interviews with Moore's lawyers the 38 million is straight up the amount they decided would have earned from playing and the extra couple million is for the rest, those reports could have been wrong but I trust the Globe and Mail do their research before posting articles. Also, I am not arguing the point of starting the bidding that high, its obvious and done with almost every lawsuit I have ever heard about. I was simply asking the poster that I had quoted if he thought that amount was fair since he said he would be happy if Moore just flat out won.

I think you missed his point there. The point wasn't that Moore was expendable, the point is that he almost certainly wouldn't have made 38 million dollars as a player. So when you say you would be happy if Moore won, do you mean if he is awarded the full 40 million? You really believe Bertuzzi should be paying out of his own pocket for likely the rest of his life for a one time lapse of judgement in a heated situation after already serving his original punishment?

I don't think it's as much of a factor now as it maybe used to be. I doubt there are many GM's out there who wouldn't take the best player available if it came down to a North American player or European player (With the exception of Brian Burke.) But it seems to me that European players are more and more often adapting their style of play to the North American game. Just the two stats of the Wings' roster and the Penguins' roster should prove that. Two of the most recently successful teams and two quite substantially different percentages.

I don't see why we would need Brunnstrom for that. It's a pretty widely accepted fact around LGW that if Hudler were to play on Datsyuk's wing for the entire season he would also put up 35 goals.

I wrote an article on this after reading about the lawsuit. (Shameless Self Promotion) And from what I have read it looks like 38 million plus. Moore's lawyers say the 38 is the estimated loss of income he would have earned over his NHL career, plus more due to the fact that the brain damage he suffered prevented him from pursuing a post hockey career in finance.

You're forgetting Bertuzzi fought O'Brien twice in a game last season.. and we all know how last season ended.. so.. BOO FIGHTING is right! I do agree with you though. Can't be letting our top prospects get run, plus it's nice to know that we have some guys down the line who are willing to step up to the plate if need be.

I am not saying there is no way Johnson could make the Wings, but to say the Wings have a depth issue is kind of redundant. If they had an issue with depth they could have kept Drapes and then spent some of the pile of cash they have left over filling in some more players. I admittedly (and shamefully) follow Eklund on Twitter just because my mind is always blown by his predictions and despite the fact he has about a 1% success rate as soon as he is right he is the first person to blow his own horn and talk about how he called it 3 weeks ago.

Its really hard to choose a more lopsided trade between the two.. I feel an LGW poll is in order.
