I seem to remember before all of the lockout nonsense reading an interview where Knuble said it would be a dream come true to get to finish his career with Detroit.. so why not at least give him a chance to prove he can do it?..

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that the KHL implemented a rule that locked out NHL players can only earn something like 75% of what their NHL contract pays them..

I planned on it. Looks like I will be getting to see a lot more of Frk this year than I anticipated.

All I can think of when I read the title of this thread is this.. On a more serious note, I never cared for Robert Lang.. And I have trouble liking Mikael Samuelsson but he has a knack for scoring at the right moment which is usually enough for me to put up with him.

I don't think that's quite accurate. The TSN guys (especially this summer) have dismissed quite a few rumours. I specifically remember Dreger shutting down Eklund rumours multiple times at the beginning of the summer and there have been quite a few jokes made at the expense of Eklund on Twitter by many Mainstream Media members, that doesn't make Eklund any more legit.

The only reason any of his stuff seems at all accurate is on the off chance he gets one right he relentlessly tweets about it bragging about how he was right and how he beat "main stream media" to the punch about it.. so you end up hearing about it way more when he is right.. and then when he is wrong he makes up some ridiculous story like the Wings being furious about Suter breaking that so called "verbal agreement" or Crosby being "irate" when Parise broke that same "verbal agreement" with the Pens.. Most of his stuff is generic.. he knows the Wings want a d-man and have interest in Yandle so why not put it out there as your own info, then if the trade happens he can gloat about how he had it the info weeks in advance and if no trade happens he can just say "negotiations fell apart" or some other BS.. The other thing is, if he really worked for all of these teams and has "sources" high up in seemlingly every team, there would be no way that he could keep his identity a secret..

I've always liked Knuble.. but I am not sure if there is room for another average forward on the roster.. He had a bit of an off year last year but has performed pretty consistently in the past so maybe an option if the Wings strike out on Ryan, Doan and Semin..

So.. in that case he will sign a 2 year deal in Dallas for 4.5 a year?

I never said I thought they should sign him, I was just pointing out that he wants to play here. I do agree though, that Holmstrom would probably get signed first. The only way I think Knuble would have a shot at serious consideration is if the Wings did package a bunch of forwards for a d-man.

The only way I would even be considering JBo if I was the GM would be if it was part of a deal for Iginla and Calgary told me the only way I was getting Iginla would be if I swallowed JBo's contract as part of the deal.. Other than that I think there are probably still better options than JBo available on the FA market for a fraction of the price.

I think Rinne is a great goalie, but I am more inclined to think the difference in the series was defense. The odd time the Wings managed to break through the defense Rinne was able to be beat, the problem was the Nashville D wasn't allowing that to happen very often.. Most of the Wings shots ended up being blocked or taken from places that didn't have much of a chance at scoring. While on the other hand the defensive lapses that troubled the Wings all season ended up being their undoing as Nashville was able to expose them.

What if we offer Columbus all of our 2013 draft picks?! Oh.. wait, nevermind.

As usual it's about a 99.99999% chance Eklund is full of s***. I would have to think Parise coming back to the Devils would be pretty contingent on Kovy being there and them icing a solid team again next season.. That would be like the Wings trading Zetterberg to keep Datsyuk (or the other way around).. Not to mention all that the Devils went through to get Kovy in the first place (ridiculous contract, penalized by the league, plus assets lost in the trade)..

That deal would have totally worked in NHL 12..

Finally, some good Red Wings news. I think the series against Nashville proved how important Helm was to the team (Although, Im not saying having Helm back would have changed the outcome.. but it certainly wouldnt have hurt)

Can we sign him to a 2 month contract? I feel like it would be fun to see Jagr in a Wings jersey but I am pretty sure that would wear off quickly..

The NFL might be comparable physically but in terms of hardest trophy to win I don't they even come close. I would put the NFL on the same level as like the Hockey World Championships.. At least in my mind only having to play each team once requires more luck than anything. Any team can get lucky and outplay another team for one game, but it's pretty hard to play a best of 7 series and not have determined who was the better team at that time.
