I don't disagree that if 100% healthy and if he's at the top of his game he could step in and carry the team with his experience. But those seem like pretty big "ifs" to be taking a chance on at this point, especially with other options still available.

For some reason I can see it being Ozzie.. I was really thinking it would go the other way but I feel like re-signing Joey is a precursor to them going with Ozzie again so they once again have Joey as a back-up plan. As much as I love Ozzie I really feel like it's time to go in a different direction. I hate to see Ozzie go out like this but he's so inconsistent and injury prone now that I don't feel like he is worth the risk, especially if something happens to Howard. I don't wanna imagine Howie getting injured and Ozzie having to carry the team down the stretch in a playoff push at this stage of his career.

Fresh off the twitter press. @NHLwiki #NHL *NEWS* -- Sounds out of L.A is that Drew Doughty has signed a multi-year contract extension with the #LAKings. TBA by team soon. From what I have seen since I have followed them they seem to be pretty credible.

I took a glance at this earlier and stopped reading after I got to Detroit. I see their points, however exaggerated they may be, but I dont think that the criteria they use makes an announcing team better or worse. From what I have seen and read from many nights on different streams finding Detroit games most other fans seem to prefer FSD to their own channel. What this all comes down to is bored summer hockey writing. Wake me up when the season starts.

I wanna say Emmerton because he's been in the system for this long.. but I gotta go with Conner, him and Helm on the same line is too much for me too pass up on.
-
I hear they are gonna try playing defence this year.

It's definitely hard to achieve the perfect balance of skill and toughness, but I do think this team is getting fairly close to getting there. I think adding another top 6 forward and possibly replacing someone in the bottom six with someone who has some size and isnt afraid to use it while not being a total liability would pretty much complete the balance.

The Devils are one of my favourite teams aside from the Wings so I watched a fair number of their games last season. Arnott just looked slow and out of place most of the time, the only time he was really effective at all was on the PP. He seemed very slightly improved after he was traded but I still dont think he has the legs to be even moderately effective 5 on 5.

Zherdev seems to have that top level skill but an attitude problem.. but all that said I would love to see him on a line with Dats. And I have always liked Emery but I think hes probably gonna hold out to see if he can find somewhere with a better chance to compete for #1,

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
GSBrooks13 replied to germanwing's topic in General
I thought it would be Kaberle, but I cant complain about White, pretty solid for a good price. -
I love Ozzie just as much as anybody and I think its obvious that he wants to play and still can play at a high level, but I think the Wings main concern is his health.. if you go with Ozzie you basically still need a 3rd option in goal just in case.
-
This is what I was expecting for a back up. Lots of talk last year about the Wings picking him up via trade or waivers so no surprise if they pick him up for a cheap price as a UFA.

Hedberg re-signed with NJ. 1Yr/1.25M NTC

Similar to the trade ideas with Yandle, I would be all for it. But in reality I will give this one the same one in a million chance that Holland would make such an aggressive trade unless he felt he had no choice. I do have all of the faith in the world in Holland and the Wings' management but I am starting to feel more and more like this team needs a decent shake up (nothing monumental) to get themselves motivated again.
-
I don't see Holland changing anything at the Forward position unless somehow a miracle deal is worked out and he ships Hudler away. On D I still believe he signs someone. I have a feeling it might be Kaberle, which I am not opposed to. A lot of people don't really like Kaberle but I feel like he could really do well in the Wings' system. If not Kaberle I could see the Wings going after someone like Lepisto or a lesserknown name to give them a shot at filling the role for a year or two. Add a backup goalie onto that and I think the Wings will hold on to the remaining cash to allow for some movement at the Trade Deadline.
-
The only way to get Yandle, imo, would be giving up a load of prospects as well as someone like Flip. And the only way I could even remotely see Holland doing anything like that would be if he thinks Yandle could be a long term replacement for Lidstrom as our number 1 D. I'd also imagine that in a case like that Smith would be untouchable and ideally eventually become a 1/2 of Yandle/Smith. Yandle put up some great numbers last year and if you look furthur back was a beast in the Q. I personally think he has that number 1 potential. But I also think that there is less than a 1 in a million chance Kenny pushes that hard to get Yandle when he seems more than content to wait out the crazy UFA signings and seeing what is left over.
-
Yes! I would love this, but I am not too sure how much Phoenix would want to give up one of their top DMen to the team that has eliminated them from the playoffs 2 years in a row. But if at all possible, Hudler, Emmerton, Bag of Draft Picks. Get Er Done.

Commodore certainly isnt a mind blowing signing, but he will be a solid replacement for Salei.. Never thought I would see the day where so many Wings fans would be upset about signing a guy who can hit and fight a bit.. Anyways, people need to stop over reacting a little, its not like Commodore is going to be the Wings only move this summer.. Just because Kenny hasnt filled in the top 4 guy and a backup goalie yet doesn't mean the world is ending. It's only July 1st.

I think thats likely just looking for some extra hits to their website.. No new information at all.. just overstating the fact that he is able to negotiate an offersheet.. which goes for every RFA in a similar situation.

Thats right, don't drag the rest of us down with them.

Russian Sports Website saying Jagr signed with Pitts for 1.4M/1Yr http://news.sportbox.ru/Vidy_sporta/Hokkej/NHL/spbnews_YAgr-vnovi-stal-pingvinom I am not sure how reliable that is though since I dont believe his flight has even landed yet.. but who knows.
-
Hold, on.. You dont remember this hit?.. Were you living under a rock for about the 3 weeks following it? Haha.. Anyways, Pacioretty even tweeted that he didn't wanna see any charges pressed and just wants to move on.. too bad none of the people in Montreal agree.

I have read numerous reports on Twitter this morning that the Preds f***ed up the Qualifying Offers for Kostitsyn, O'Reilly & Spaling so all 3 could become UFAs. I might not mind seeing Kostitsyn here, he seemed to be a bit better after getting out of Montreal.
