If Dom does retire next year then i really think we need to go out and get another goalie. I would not mind an Ozzie and Howard tandem if our team was middle of the pack or sucked. But we are the Red Wings for petes sake! It scares me a bit because what if Ozzie faltures and all the load is on Howard?? Is he ready for that? I say go out and get a solid goalie and let Howard back him up. I know Ozzie gets the Yzerman treatment somehow on these forums and all. And I love Ozzie as a person but as a starter for a stanley cup contending team? And if he is not able to do that then we have Howard? I'm a bit scared next season..

lol Imagine Yzerman peacefully watching the wings game way up in the press box there and then the door smashes open and now Yzerman is surrounded by many injured Wings lol. Chelly would probably be bugging him the most lol.

We did very well last year and surpassed expectations. Lang and Schneider scored some very very clutch goals in last years playoffs though... But we need to be healthy enough and hopefully get some breaks. If Hasek and Lidstrom are there for the playoffs then i see us having a very good chance!

I was quite scared when he got nailed... My first reaction was "@##$%#$%!@#~#!@$@$!!! *sigh* there goes the season." But glad it wont be for too long and hopefully this team continues to play well without him.

I have no idea why Ozzie gets protected so much on these boards like he's friggin Steve Yzerman or something...??? But anyways hopefully we pull out a win here and maybe Howard will be #1 till Dom comes back cause i dunno if it can get any worse lol.

I hope he does not retire but that is because I'm biased and love the guy! I'm the type of person who does not accept change very well.. and I'm not really to excited about Howard. For me having Dom always eases my mind on our goaltending situation come playoff time. Unlike many goalies that have played here Dom is mentally not human. Thus he does not get rattled and the media never gets him down. If you score on him he blames himself and knows he should have made the save. Where as a lot of goalies out there are scored on figure "well it was a good scoring chance and i had no chance at it." You can always count on him when it matters and i will admit he's getting older and has lost a little but because he was so friggin good in his prime and he blew away all other competition he's just now at his older age coming back down to earth but is still one of the top goalies! Think about it... Ozzie had to wait till Dom was 43 to even come close to being somewhat competitive with him. But in the playoffs IMO roll with Dom! Hasek may have lost a step or two but still has that aura about him and when he's on you can forget it! It's hard for him to get into a groove here in Detroit at times as well because he sees so few shots. Dom used to be a shutout goalie every nite stoning teams and making 40-50 saves a nite and stealing the show. Now he has to hope to make 10-15 saves a nite and somehow stay on top of his game.. it's gotta be tough. But that is why i prefer him in the playoffs because teams tend to get more chances on us and get more shots on us.

Time moves on and things change. It's called Zetterberg and Datsyuk! Where in the world would Fedorov even fit in??? He was lazy when he was here and would completely disapear at times! Especially the times when we needed him most when Yzerman was out with an injury. Fedorov can continue to wear his leather pants and drive his fancy cars in Columbus because i see no reason in bringing him back. What has he done since he has left? Our team is filled with hard workers and pure skill! Why would we want to mess that up with bringing this flash in a pan back?

Hasek started the season slow like he always does and is fine now and is and has been playing great and ready to help this team win a cup. Osgood has been good this season as well. He played a bit badly after the contract signing and got smoked in the skills competetion and all star game but he had a nice game vs the Coyotes so hopefully he will be solid the rest of the year. But IMO no offense Osgood fans and i love him too but when it comes playoff time i don't really wanna see Streaky Ozzie in net and have to worry every game are we gonna get the good ozzie or the bad ozzie. Some of the comments he made at the all star game worried me and brought me back to what he was like in the old days. Osgood i think is mentally not a superstar goalie. He has confidence issues since he was drafted here and has always been a descent goalie his whole career. He shines at times in Detroit and that is why he is back here. He didn't do anything special with the Blues and Islanders. He was awful in the playoffs for them. He shines here in Detroit because he is comfortable here but this is Dom's last year folks and let him ride it out and we can have wonderful Ozzie in net for 3 more years!!

Maltby is not counted on to provide points anymore and accepts his limited role. He's a true Wing and a great guy. Put him on a team that needs him for offense and i bet you he scores 20 goals or more a year barring injury. The dude has a wicked shot and skates very well. Sometimes i get mad at his limited role and wonder why not use him over Samuelsson...? But hey I'm not the coach heh. Kirk Maltby rocks!! And is a true team player gotta respect that.

Why do some of u want hossa and blake? We don't need them and i do not wanna give up any of our future for them!! Blake is washed up and hossa... what is the point??? We don't need anymore skilled players like him. Sundin i would not mind but just as long as were not giving up too much. I really hope we can hold on to Flippula and Hudler for many years. lol hopefully Toronto would accept Sammy and Howard for Sundin. I have seen Howard play and there is no chance he becomes an elite goalie. Maybe someday he could be an Ozzie but i don't even know that..

His luck better have not ran out! We just signed him to 3 more friggin years lol. But like someone stated above.. It's Ozzie and he has his ups and downs and that is why we love him heh. He has always been streaky. But lets hope he gets hot for the playoffs for the next 3 years!

Look guys i know you all love Ozzie and so do i! But he just got a contract extension and will be with us a few more years. This is Dom's last year and he has been playing very good lately! He is Dominik Hasek people! He will be solid the rest of the year barring injury and he will be the #1 come playoff time. Yes Ozzie has been great this season. Not to be mean or anything but this is a very good team and IMO we could throw anyone in net and still make the playoffs. Playoffs are what matters and Dom has shined in the playoffs throught his career! Ozzie on the other hand.. meh.. But it looks like he has finally found his groove and will be our #1 for a while!! Lets hope he keeps playing good! Go Ozzie and Dom!! Ozzie was not all that great with the Blues and Islanders. He's just comfortable here and plays well here cause this is his home. But i will admit and I'm sure all of you will too.. if Ozzie gets no playoff action this year how would he have done? If we fall short would things have been different with Ozzie in net? Let's hope he continues to be solid for next year and beyond cause he will definitly have his shot after this year guys!!

I just want a great playoff run ending with the cup. I don't care about any of that regular season bull crap.. I don't care if we are an 8th seed. Just get to the playoffs with how ever many points and win the cup!

lol what a weird topic. Trading away Yzerman....? Yea ok... Wether it is smart as a GM or not.. Holland or any other GM would have been fired if they tried to trade him. I don't care if it was for Crosby, Ovechkin, Heatley. Not the right thing to do and only a classless GM would do that. Players like Stevie dont come around at ALL. And we will NEVER see the likes of anything like him again. He's done so much for us.. what a messed up topic..

Yea we definitly want Flip and Huds in our future and they are really showing us what they have right now but have showed us glimpses last couple years as well. Despite some of the members on this forum earlier in the season im sure a lot of us have seen these two as our future. This is a new NHL now folks and it's time too run with the kids and stop signing old goats! Flippula, Hudler, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, and maybe more awesome talent down the road? Love our scouting and awesome talent right now it's fun to watch and hopefully we can keep them all somehow as the years go by... but it's gonna be tough. And ultimately will be there decision to stay or go. I'm also thankful for the finding of Cleary! What a surprise he has been and an awesome player since he came here.. I love our team full of young talent and awesome veterans! Hopefully with all of our pieces to the puzzle we can capture some cups eh?

Yea don't really care but i don't really think they will... we only lost 12 games that year and we have 6 now. But yea i just want a solid regular season and an awesome playoff run and hopefully nabbing the cup this year.

lol the blues have done this before they always send Weight packing for a freebie player cause Weight will be back with the blues once the season is over. If i was Dougie though i would be getting mad cause they always trade him away to get some young talent but he will prob be back in St. Louis next year.
