I didn't mind Thorne or Clement but yes they did have a bias with the Av's back in the day. I especially remembering them always focusing and zooming in and out on Roy and always talking about him and saying how great he was. Sometimes too much cause Thorne would be lost in his Roy fantasy and there zooming in on Roy meanwhile the Av's scored on the other end!

Yea i love Ken and Mick. But especially Mick.. he just reminds of an old grandfather type figure who has all kinds of awesome stories to tell ya. But yes they are awesome and when were only on Verses i just sigh and picture what mick would say after a hit, fight, goal, etc.

heak yea. Lidstrom always plays. And has been anchoring our D since he basically started playing with us. If something serious ever happened to him our season is out the window IMO. Also whenever Lids takes a hit i cringe...

Well if you mean add a player from the 96-97 team to our current team now.. then that is a tough one.. Vladdy no doubt though lol. But Shanny from 96-97 would be a great fit too.. tough heh. Can't forget McCarty who we could use as well. IMO Doug Brown i thought was pretty underated as well hehe. Ah what the heak just combine that whole friggin 96-97 team in with ours. That way we get Stevie Y, Shanny, and some clones of Lidstrom, Maltby, Draper, Holmstrom, Osgood etc. That way we can rest the older versions of them.

He's doing great and IMO reminds me a lot of Kariya. By the way where are those crazy members who were bashing him and flip at the begining of the season? Oh that's right there on to Dom now..

I think everybody knew that when Stevie retired Lidstrom was gonna be our captain just by gut feeling. Nick is the best D man that i have ever seen and is such a great captain. He's very humble and leads by example much like stevie! Go Lids!!

No some of the members here would bash God for being too perfect and probably accuse him of cheating because his lifetime GAA is 0.00 with 957 career shutouts. They also probably would not apreciate it when God strikes lightning at the puck and destroys it before ever getting past the blueline because God's lightning was intentional at striking down the player in possesion of the puck.

I just don't understand why some of you are giving Dom so much crap!? Were RedWings fans!? You all know it was not intentional because he has done this before... he goes for the puck while there looking down. Wether it was a penalty or not which i dont think it should have been. It was an awesome play by Dom and it shows how much he loves this game and is willing to do for a win no matter what the situation is! It's friggin hockey folks i know some of you have grown attached to Bettman but please remember this is not his game quite yet.. but still Hockey!! Sometimes people get hurt from checking and collisions and what not yeesh... Dom simply stopped the puck from going in the net on a breakaway.. he just did it in his own way and some of you have a hard time with it or something? Sorry he's not your everyday butterfly goalie folks who lets breakaways go in because he knows it was not his fault just a defense breakdown.

This was friggin awesome and it looks like the return of the Dominator!! Dom has always done stuff like this because he takes risks and most of the time it delivers a great outcomes like this!! And about it being a dirty hit and whining about this or that... it's freaking hockey folks!! And I'm sorry Dom is not your same trusty typical butterfly goalie who idolized Roy when they were growing up and plays everything technically sound and cuts off all the angles and lays back in net and lets players score on him when it's a breakaway blah blah blah... God forbid somebody gets hurt in hockey He gets bashed at this forum for saving the puck and he gets bashed for not saving the puck. Some of you need to seriously quit it with the whole anti hasek crap and cheer for our entire team of Wings and save your bashing for someone not on our team!? i dunno Giguere maybe? Somebody who looks like a giant walrus in net!! Besides anybody that knows and watched Dom over his career has seen these kind of tactics before and he's not doing it too hurt the other guy. I know Dom plays the game entirely different from any other goalie and that is why he is either loved or hated. Like it or not He's one of the best ever and he's not your everyday ordinary boring crappy butterfly goalie!

Completely agree. Osgood has been solid but Dom always starts off slow and when he's on Hasek is spectacular! And i have always said it but i will say it again.. when it comes playoff time Dom is the man and if i was a coach I'm going with a spectacular goalie over a solid goalie any day.

Glad Dom is starting again! Hope he can get hot as well and we will have Dom and Ozzy going full throttle!! But anyways yes it is good to see Dom sprawling and stacking the pads again because that means he's confident. He was solid vs the Canadiens and i disagree with the comment above how if minnesota gets a lot of shots on Dom we will lose.. he will be on again and hopefully now after that game and the more shots the better because if it was up to him he would definitly want to see a lot more action.. but our D is a tad bit too good so unfortunately that hinders Dom because he needs to see a lot more action and shots. I know he's 42 now but Dom saw loads of shots in Buffalo and that only helped him and he was ready for that nite in and nite out.

NHL players don't belong in the Olympics anyways. There pro athletes who make millions of dollars and get enough recognition on tv and stuff. Leave the Olympics to the average people and college kids. IMO the olympics are for average people who train the whole year and hope they make it.

Well i would think Ozzie would be able to be somewhat competitive with him this season seeing as Dom's 42 years old. Dom was #1 in net last year with us and if healthy will be again. Ozzie is a great backup and can have all his glory with us next year and beyond if Holland wants that. But this is Dom's last year.. You guys would not be bashing him if we had Dom in his prime! But even at 42 years old he is 20 times better than Ozzie.. he was last year and will be again this year in due time.

But he was a key in that series and did make some huge stops. But yes you are right about Lidstrom but i still rest on the fact no chance we get by the Av's with Ozzie. It was a 7 game series and IMO that is way too much pressure for Osgood to play well enough for us to win that series. Forsberg and Sakic would have obliterated Ozzie lol. Hasek was HUGE in that series and shut out the Av's 2 games in a row which were games 6 and 7. I will never forget Bob Hartley challenging Dom's stick with a measurement! Hartley and the Av's sealed there fate with that one lol.

Well until then.. because Ozzie has NEVER won a vezina, hart throphy and named mvp of the league. I love Ozzie and hey you might be right.. Ozzie may be coming on and maybe be like Roloson who didnt reach his potential until the end of his career. But your going back in time and saying in 02 Ozzie was great. We will see what the future holds for him and i hope he does turn out to be an elite goalie. But everyone here knows Osgood's past and it's not an elite career. Hasek's past is another story. Dom is going down as one of the best ever if not THE best ever. People might not like him but he has been friggin awesome his entire career. Osgood has been a bust his entire career and is not even in Dom's league. And if you wanna compare them now then hey i would hope Ozzie is somewhat competitive with a 42 year old man!! But when it comes playoff time and that 42 year old man is healthy you will see why he's in net!

Stevie was a humble captain and not some glory hog like messier who had i dont even know how many ceremonies for his retirement and then he even skated with the stanley cup for another retirement ceremony.. with the rangers i believe. Yzerman had his goody bye and it was awesome! I miss Stevie but time moves on and things change.. sucks but its how life is

Dom was fine tonight.. the Wings just did not score on there powerplays. Especially that long 5 on 3. Gimme a break! Has the world turned upside down and our team plays better in front of Osgood than Hasek? lol I remember Draper saying lat season was fun and felt like 2002 again with Dom in net and they had no worries back there. IMO it will be like that again soon. I know everybody loves Ozzie i do too but unless barring injury Dom is the man in the playoffs and is our x factor for stealing a cup. I have seen Ozzie when hes hot and when hes not. He's Chris Osgood and i love him as a person and a wings player but not the #1 guy in net for a stanley cup season.

Our team gave up some pretty lame breakaways but i will say however Dom is definitly playing very badly.. in his entire career i never would have thought he would have gave up 3 breakaways that the shots were all ice level!! I was about to pull out my hair man!? Dom gave up some very lame five hole goals and on all of the goals the puck was not in the air what so ever! I'm sure he will get it together but it was definitly sad to see those kind of shots go in on him Maybe he's thinking about it too much because he did not stack his pads or sprawl or anything on those shots. He just played the shots on his knees and they went between his legs or around him everytime... Sigh.. Here is to Dom getting better!! Go Dom Go!!

Go Wings!! Go Dom!! Hasek owns our souls!

It was just one game... in 2002 Dom was crushed by his former team Buffalo and we went into a talspin there after.. but Dom and the wings got there crap together and won a cup. It's only one game everything will be fine with Hasek unless he gets injured. We have to keep playing Hasek so he can fully get into his groove and be ready for the playoffs. I love Ozzie and all but he just does not have the right frame of mind to be a starting goalie come playoff time and everyone knows that even if u are the biggest Ozzie fan! The man has only ever been good here in Detroit and he utterly collapsed for the Islanders and especially the Blues. Osgood has always been a tender little guy. Fans chant he sucks and get on him he collapses. WAY too much pressure for him here during the playoffs. But hey maybe with all of his experience he's changed. He may be solid for the rest of his career.. Roloson was not that great until his minnesota days and now is a star goalie for the oilers. He came on late and maybe Ozzie too never know.. But when u have Hasek on your team that other guy can sit lol. Just one game and i hope Babcock does not sit Hasek for too long.. I'm a huge Wings fan but no Hasek in the playoffs IMO means no cup.
