Khan: Jeff Blashill to be announced new head coach next week
wings87 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
SHOCKED! SHOCKED I TELL YOU! -
It's not who he played with, it's the role he was expected to be in. Babs wanted him to check more while creating space for others to score. That's kinda him being out of position, he needs to be the guy relied on to score on his line-be it on the second or third. That being said, he didn't play well and needs to be better.
-
I don't disagree. Though whichever line Jurco ends up on, he has to be utilized as an offensive player. He's not the type of player, who'll shut the other team down defensively. But if given the chance(if he continues to develop, of course) he's got enough offensive weapons to put the opposing team on it's heels-even on the third line. I'd like to see Z drop down to the 3rd line( yes, I know- blasphemy) with Jurco, and Franzen/Pulkinnen. That move might give the line a balance between offense and defense.
-
I don't think you can call him enigmatic after 2 seasons. He's had 1 good year and 1 bad, that's all there is to it. With Blashill coming in he'll be used properly (scoring role, not checking). So I expect a better year from him.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
wings87 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
No doubt he's a good GM. The annoying problem is that too many people believe that the Wings would be guarenteed a cup (or 5) if he was the the GM instead of Holland. And it's really an argument that has become tiring, and will be magnified if Tampa wins. As for Holland I'm one of those people you mentioned that believes he should have moved up and a new GM should have taken over by now. Alas it wasn't meant to be. -

Not saying it's 100% wrong. Just that I prefer not hear it for the next 5 years. -

I hate Chicago. I hate them with a passion. But I'd still rather see them win. Mainly because I can't imagine listening to the whining on here, about what a wonderful GM Yzerman is and how much Holland blows. When you add the Wings losing to Tampa, the Yzerman GM hype, as well as the Holland hate-this site would be unbearable for awhile. -
I blame Cleary for not scoring on the breakaway, Stuart for his two turnovers in game seven, and of course the blind f***s masquerading as NHL refs. But whatever, as you can tell from my comments I'm totally over it.
-
I haven't read his comments or follow the KHL. So here's my question. Do proposed changes, restrict russian players from going to the NHL before signing contracts with russian teams?
-
Too early to talk contract? I hear Toronto is sniffing around.

Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

Yeah, but if your Toronto you gotta start somewhere. So you start with a coach, and if they are smart(big if) the next step would be to clean house and start over. -

If he wins in Toronto he'll be a god, if not he'll at least be paid like one. Plus I'm sure he'll have more power in the organization, then he's got in Detroit. -

I don't know about TSN, but I'm sure CNN will have a breaking news banner. -

If he does, he won't be smiling for long. -

Lets get real, if Buffalo offers Babcock 50 mil and Holland offers 20 mil- he'd be out of his mind not to got to Buffalo. I can't blame him if he accepts a contract that's twice the value of the Wings offer. Realistically would any of us turn that down? Anyway it's all speculation until something happens. -

Screw Babcock, I'll take it. -

By finals I meant the entire postseason. Hockey reporters seem to care a great deal. -

How embarrassing for the NHL that this is the major story and not the Cup finals. There should be a rule that teams aren't allowed to do anything during the playoffs, so as not to overshadow the games-just like MLB does. -

Correction. He really wanted to predict that Babcock will sign with Buffalo, but was afraid to be wrong. Those tweets are like a guy trying to talk himself into buying a Vespa even though he really wants a Harley. -

You can't blame them... Blashill is very hard to pronounce. Just be happy your coworkers are housebroken. -

They can want him all they want, but all a short term deal brings is instability. I'm not saying it's a 1 or 2 year deal, but if it is who does it really benefit? Babcock isn't going to change his coaching style, so it'd be 2 years of the same, and then a new coach would come in and instill his strategy. How does that help the franchise? With a young team there needs to be more stability. Babcock should either stay and continue molding the young guys. Or someone else should. Because changing coaches every couple years, isn't great for the longevity of a franchise. Doesn't matter who wants the deal, I don't think going short is a good idea. -

I don't get the merit of it. Noone benefits from a short deal. Anything under 3 years means Babcock's already got one foot out the door. And from the Wings perspective a short deal means that, they don't think Blashill is a good enough replacement. In which case a short deal buys Holland time to find someone he deems worthy. I don't know the whole thing's weird.
