It's nothing like that at all. I get what you're trying to say, but that analogy doesn't work.

I'm sure he does some coaching behind the scenes, I doubt he just collects a paycheck. Like I said I expect him to be a coach at some point in the Wings system.

Cleary isn't gonna be on the roster, do we really care how much money he's making? He also didn't stop any young guys from playing last year. I'm over the Holland/Cleary thing, plus after 2 years the jokes have gotten old and frankly kinda lazy. As far as loyalty goes, the Wings have always been loyal to their guys. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason Holland wants Cleary in GR is to learn the coaching aspect of the game, and join the GR staff next year.

I've changed my view on the whole Cleary thing. The Wings are showing loyalty to a good guy, who went through the grinder for the team over the years. We should all be so lucky to have bosses/friends who show us that kind of loyalty. He'll get some money, play in GR- while helping the young guys. Good for him, and good for the Wings.

I suppose Holland could trade half of Grand Rapids just to dump Franzen's contract... Although Doing something like that, would create more problems then it solves. Which brings me back to, Franzen is staying put.

I'd like to move Q (not gonna happen though). Even though he had a decent year, I've just never been a big fan. I'm sure the Wings aren't in the running, but Oduya makes a ton of sense. It'd be nice to pair Oduya with Greene, and Kronwall and DD. Franzen isn't going anywhere. Though it'd be nice to move 2 of Kindl, Ericsson, or Q.
