Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.......Don't you go dying on me!

No loyalty I guess.

Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)
KDDRWINGS1 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Nothing personal with Wisniewski but he's definitely not worth that much IMO, especially without a real trarck record. It's a reflection of the weak market and teams with cap issues over paying marginal players. Like the obligatory Hudler dump and Konopka signing but would rather keep Flip and sign Connolly, Kaberle, White/Babchuk and Jagr. Zetterberg - Connolly - Bertuzzi Franzen - Datsyuk - Jagr Cleary- Flip - Homer Helm - Konopka - Abdelkader/Eaves Lidstrom - Kaberle Kronwall - Ericsson Stuart - White/Babchuk -
Maybe Kenny can get some of these guys like Souray who are getting bought on a two way contract if they don't have a contract later in the off season and make them earn a roster spot. That's the only way I see it being worth the risk for the team but I'm sure a team that needs to spend money will over pay a guy like him just to become compliant with the cap floor.

Burns traded to SJ.......Bieksa re-signed by Vancouver.....Erhoff might be next... If the Wings run out of options on defense would you mind a trade for Komisarek considering his $4.5 million cap hit through the 2013-2014 season? I would hope to dump a guy like Hudler (obviously) in the deal to even out the money a little but regardless couldn't expect Toronto wanting too much for him.

The Tigers have some really good players about to hit their prime and a bunch that have passed it. I think Illitch has gave Dombrowski a lot of cash to put a team together that a lot of other GM's would have used better. The Tigers have had a high payroll for years and traded away a lot of prospects without much to show for it. However, I think they recently addressed a few needs but if they want to get into the playoffs they'll need to pick up another starter and left handed reliever. Considering how many Venezuelan players the Tigers have that are well respected not only on the team or MLB but back in Venezuela also, I think trying to trade for Carlos Zambrano would be a good idea. He has a lot of potential and if he can control himself, he would be a very effective member of the Tigers. The Tigers wouldn't have to give up as much as they would for Greinke or Garza and the Cubs would probably pay a majority of his contract just to get rid of him. The reliever I would look at, if they won't put Coke back in the bullpen, is JC Romero just because he's been on a winning team and the Tigers need players with that experience. I agree Raburn has lots of potential but I can't figure out why he hasn't played full time if he's so good. If the Tigers really want to go somewhere I would like them to sign Scott Podsednick and use Raburn as a backup or DH. There's no perfect team out there regardless of what people may think about Boston and Philly and that's why I'm very excited about this (2011) season. This could be a real good year but if Dombrowski waits until the deadline to make moves he may have to give up more then he would now.

Not to mention the 3rd pairing will be out with the Abdelkader line a lot! I agree the top two pairings need to split up since although subtle, Lids and Raffi have lost a step and don't have the physical element to their game Kronwall and Stuart have. It's a great set-up if everybody can stay healthy and you would still be able to keep your top PP pairing.

This is so close to the'08 team! I'm pretty sure Kenny's going to make a few minor trades but if Modano signs we have the perfect 3rd line center and the team gets even deeper. An enforcer would be a bonus but maybe the right 6th defensemen would help us there.

if they're nice they might give him time to focus on his true passion of working for the Russian mob.

WTF do you care? If you don't like something that has nothing to do with you then don't make a big deal out of it.

Based on the list of players I wanted the Wings to pick (Jarred Tinordi, Petr Straka, Teemu Pulkkinen, Peter Stoykewych, Raman Hrabarenka, Riley Sheahan, Konrad Abeltshauser), Pulkkinen was the one player I didn't think they would have a chance to get. Very happy he fell so low to the Wings because that means he'll be a stud in 4-5 years.

What......why........please can he? He played cheaper than Williams last year and is a perfect fit for my ideal team. -

Franzen Zetterberg Holmstrom Filppula Datsyuk Bertuzzi Hudler Prospal Cleary Abdelkader Helm/Draper Artyukhin Lidstrom Kronwall Stuart Rafalski Kindl/Ericsson Exelby or Sutton Howard Osgood Rules -
Everybody thinks it gonna be a UFA signing. This might mean we don't have to settle for the Millers of the NHL. Hopefully it's a Horton/Hamhuis type deal. Dustin Byfuglien is coming to Detroit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dustin Byfuglien is coming to Detroit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A gamble worth taking if McIlrath and Pulkkinen are gone.

Don't know what the Preds plan is but I've always liked how the Devils built their teams and think this was a great move for them considering they hardly gave up anything. Seems like they think Kovy or Martin is gone or are hoping Arnott will make them want to stay.
-
With regular playing time and the type of coaching/mentoring he would get in Detroit I would see him on the third line with Hoodles and Cleary before mid-season. If they sign Artyukhin and Eaves then Miller's gone and the fourth line would consist of Artyukhin/Eaves, Helm, Draper and Abdelkader with Artyukhin/Eaves competing for the RW on the third line.

I agree. Arty's been homeless like Bert for a while. I bet if Kenny gives him a 2-3 year deal he'd sign dirt cheap unless he wants to play in Russia. 2010 Wishlist: Vaclav Prospal Current Salary $1,100,000 Evgeny Artyukhin Current Salary $1,000,000 Garnet Exelby Current Salary $1,725,000 Andrew Hutchinson Current Salry $600,000

I wish more players felt that way. This is the kind of deal he needs since hasn't stuck anywhere for a few years. Hopefully there's some cash left over for Big Arty or Prospal.
-
Its players like Homer who got us to the playoffs last season. When half the team was injured he was scoring goals. He would have got more money from another contender but he stayed here, be happy about that.

I didn't like that last year. Especially because he passed on Simon Despres and Mikko Koskinen. Ferraro seems like he might have some potential I would have preferred one of them. If he trades that pick for anything it should be in a deal for a player.

Frolov is UFA and will be looking for more than the Wings can afford. I'd prefer Wojlski for a UFA anyways. Evgeny Artyukhin (UFA) is out there, does he count?
