I'd take Feds for Kopecky straight up but they might want more like a dman. I wouldn't give up Ericsson. They can have Meech or a low draft pick. If we made a trade like that and brought in Blake, after they moved lines around we'd be unstoppable (like we already are now). Thought this article was interesting. In my opinion we'll most likely get Blake, most other teams are doing to good to trade off a piece unless their looking to free up cap space for the future. With that said, if we don't get Foppa, it'll most likely be someone from a team not close to making the play offs. The worst teams right now are LA, Tampa, Edmonton, Florida, and Buffalo based on points. My questions are when will this happen because I'm getting anxious, how likely is Foppa coming here, and where do these rumors come from? By the way, make sure you read the "experts two cents" underneath the article. My two cents are, I don't want Sundin, I'd rather watch another team trade off their future for a rental. I have nothing against older players so as long as they come cheap I'd be happy. As long as we have ZDH, Flip, Cleary, Franzen, and Downey, I'd be willing to give up a young active player. I think mostly any trade Kenny makes will be good as long as it doesn't take away from our foundation. I honestly couldn't pin 75% of the goals being scored on him as his fault. It was lack of effort on both sides of the puck and like in past games it screwed Ozzie. This isn't like when Dom didn't give a s***, Ozzies making good saves but he doesn't have anyone clearing the front of the net. Our D is getting pushed out of the way and letting the other team take rebounds and charge into our zone. I'm gonna say it like it's been said a hundred times, Lilja needs to go and someones gotta check Cheli and Rafalski on turnovers. Finally they need to trade off Sammy or Franzen (preferably Sammy) and get someone who uses their size for something. It's only three games but it needs to stop now before it gets worse and too late.

Haven't read every post on this thread but been doing so reading other sites. Eklund and another site have Barret Jackman and Mike Commodore as possible trades. I don't like either of these two very much but most people didn't like Cheli and that seems to have worked. With Carolina's need for d-men right now Commodore probably won't move but Jackman is possible and who knows what he could do here. We'd likely give up hudler or flip I doubt the blues would have any interest in sammy. Hopefully! I think Mike Commodore would work out great here, he's 6'5", 229lbs, has won a cup, and a ufa next season. Plus he's only making $1.25 mil this year so he'd be very cheap this year and next. Sounds like someone we've been missing for a while. Unfortunately Carolina is plaqued with injuries on defense so we'd likely give up at least two d-men.

I agree 100% about rentals returning to a stronger team after play-offs, but it's always about winning right now. That being said I'd hold onto Lilja for someone better. If we're talking about grave robbing, I'd take Foote, he could be overly agressive but I think we need that sometimes. Of course when the season ends we're missing another d-man over 6' and unless Quincy packs on the pounds we'll have one more person to push around down low. I can't stand watching our players getting out muscled in our own zone anymore, there comes a time when this mind set that skill and size can't meet in the middle or be bought has to go. I hate hearing how it doesn't matter how small our team is because they're skilled, the Ducks beat us partly because we couldn't keep them out of our end of the ice. I think we need someone more proven, this year and next, than our prospects. If we lose Lilja I won't be upset even though I think he's improved a little but Blake isn't the answer. After the Ottawa game which we lost because of two bad pk's off two bad calls, we have to ask ourselves where could we have been better. I think we got pushed all over the ice, our two way play was awful, and the inexperiece of our younger players really showed (In know Hudler had a point or two don't bring it up 'cause that's not what I;m talking about). Plus we'll still end up with Lilja or lose an active defensemen because if LA wanted Lilja they never would have traded him to us in the first place. I'm guessing by cheap, that means prospects or picks. We have a surplus of defensive prospects but I don't like giving up picks because as we can see that's where our best players have came from, especially in the salary cap era. On top of that Holland has said he'd like to resign Lilja anyways because he'd be cheap to keep around and thinks he's getting better.

Plus even though he does well here, I don't know if he'd do well on any other team. He'd probably have more trade value but I'd like him on a line with Feds.

Downey only plays for several reasons. 1. Injuries (i.e. Maltby, Holmstrom, Z) 2. To enforce when needed such as if our skilled players are being mistreated or to shift game pace 3. To kill minutes to rest the players who should be touching the puck His role isn't to spend his minutes in the box, it's too be on the bench or ice when needed. He does his job well and I hope he stays here a long time.
