I read somewhere Chicago probably won't sign him because his contract is too expensive, his age, and they're looking to persue a young free agent this off-season and they don't want to be stuck with the remaining years on his contract. I could see it happening but I wonder what they'd give up. Maybe Ruutu and a pick, if Selanne isn't coming back, which would screw us on both ends.

I'm not an iceologist but it just seemed like it would cut in more, maybe leaving divets or something and we'd be watching players fall on their face or ass. Just a thought, still don't like it. I heard awhile ago they had problems with the ice because the way the players were sharpening their skates, thought that might make it worse. It's not that I fear change, but why is performance enhancing equipment ok but not drugs. I know drugs are illegal and can hurt people, but the only reason they're banned in sports is because they create an unfair advantage, isn't this moving in that direction? Just seems like it all depends on how much you can spend and how far you wanna go.

Holland is gonna have to do something to add depth, mainly defensive. I like the idea of getting Boyle and/or Federov but I wouldn't give up a lot for them. I don't mind if he trades off prospects but no draft picks or active players except maybe Sammy, Lilja, Hudler or Ellis. I get the feeling Mike Ilitch wouldn't mind winning the Cup and a World Series in the same year. If Hasek got traded off I woulnd't mind that either, I don't hate him, I just hate his attitude.

I read in this mornings paper that we could start voting for the all-star game. It said Hank, Hasek, Dats., Lidstrom, and Rafalski are on the ballot on NHL.com but I couldn't find it. Where do I go, help?!? .

They should pick up Danny Markov off the .99 cent value menu cuz someones gonna have to be desperate or stupid to ever have want him on their team now, I'm sure he'd be back in a second if somone offered anything close to what we did.

Grigs and Markov put what little money they're getting paid and bought a bicycle built for two to get back and forth from the homeless shelter and the rink.

I'm pretty sure the league doesn't want a repeat of the first incident or worse, I don't know if any players have ever died on live t.v. but that was way to close for prime time. As promising as his career was, and as much as I'd like to see him back, I'm pretty sure that's too much of a risk for him and the NHL to take. I don't think it's in his or the RW's hands anymore, it's a liability for the "new" NHL, they'll decide.
