so far maltby has impressed me. he looks better this year than he did last year and i still feel he serves a purpose. i love that detroit is loyal to players like maltby who have given so much and i say they keep signing him until he becomes a detriment

i cant stand this guy! i was watching the game and he is an embarrasment to the leafs and the hockey players in general. he is automatically suspended for the hit and the league has the option for supplementary discipline so i hope they throw the book at him. pietrangelo is one of the leagues most promising young defensemen and that idiot hollweg must have had intent because he has done this 4 times in 42 games. KICK HIM OUT OF THE LEAGUE. the nhl needs to crack down on these guys because they bring nothing to the game and one of these days theyre going to kill someone. as a leafs fan i am disgusted that hollweg was signed and i hope to god they send him packing. not that i defend simon's actions but if you watch the tape hollweg hit him from behind to earn that stick in the face.

i agree that they should have those defibrillators at every sporting event. about 3 years ago i witnessed an 18 year old kid die during a soccer game. seems like this is a well-documented problem and that keeping people trained in their usage and a defib on hand at all times. the ambulance left? ridiculous, there must have been an emergency elsewhere though. r.i.p. alexei and i really hope this stuff about jagr comes back untrue.

agreed! the ceremony was really good last night and i just loved seeing the huge smiles on everyone's faces as they watched the banner go up. i was writing a midterm while it was happening but i sprinted home and managed to catch most of it haha.

they should do away with third jerseys all together, theyre retarded and the worst ive ever seen is the thrashers'.

i watch neil like 70 times a year at least and yes he does have some scoring touch, a knack for pissing people off, and hits like a madman. i actually believe he succeeds in making people take notice of him being on the ice and maybe start hearing footsteps and hesitating. now the problem with neil is that he takes a lot of stupid and selfish penalties. he is constantly getting interference and roughing penalties (averages 200 PIM) and i believe this is something the wings are uninterested in but i have to admit he would be one of the most sought after players of this type. on a side note: watching him play on a line with ruutu this year should be something to see and the fact that they no longer have mcgrattan means he may be fighting some more.

i trust holland and believe that he will not let sentimentality get in the way of winning. the same goes for babcock. these are two very intelligent men and as detroit fans we really have nothing to complain about. the biggest problems of this off-season are an abundance of talent and the pressure of being cup favourites. keep the faith because our boys are in excellent position to repeat.

one of the ways detroit is an attractive franchise for players is because of the loyalty and family atmosphere. keeping chelios and maltby so they can retire on their own terms is not such a bad thing. its not like night in and night out they are singlehandedly blowing games. maltby can still kill penalties and im sure he is an excellent leader off the ice and an example to others that you can play your entire career in detroit.

imagine that, a guy no one had heard of a year ago is playing on the top line (at least temporarily) of the stanley cup champions who also happen to be the deepest team in the league. not bad!

well hockeyfights gives him 5 losses and 1 draw haha hockeyfights Ryan Hollweg and all it cost the leafs was a 5th round pick. so since arriving in toronto to "rebuild through the draft" fletcher has traded 8 draft picks and tried to trade their first round pick of 09. oh and just today the leafs decide to keep luke schenn so he can help the team make 10th in the east. sorry for the rant but the leafs are making me furious right now.
