vandermeer is the kind of guy i want. tsn calls him "tough as nails", a top four defenseman with scoring potential and i know he isnt afraid to throw his weight around. sounds like the gritty defenseman with a mean streak we all want.

okay i just saw this idea presented by the man i hate most in the sports media - Ian Mendes. Now despite the fact that i hate him i can appreciate his idea of chanting MVP! every time alfredsson touches the puck. so to all of you people who get to see the red wings live, whether it be at the JLA or anywhere else, chant MVP every time lidstrom scores, get an assist or even makes a good play, EVEN if he is headed to the penalty box. this way the visiting writers who vote on the awards will constantly be hearing lidstrom for MVP chants and it will leave them with the thought in their minds every time they see the wings play. apparently this same strategy worked well for justin morneau of the MLB so let the chanting of MVP begin!! LIDSTROM FOR THE HART!

ovechkin is awesome and truly deserves the trophy BUT i want lidstrom to get it because he too deserves it and has been neglected several times in the past. THE POSTS ABOUT OVECHKIN ARE SUPPOSED TO BE JOKES! IT IS SARCASM! thats why as i say he is overrated i point out that he is leading the nhl in basically every meaningful category.

haha well im glad someone picked up on the sarcasm. ovechkin is one of my favourite players to watch. it is completely impossible for anyone to not love the guy. he is ridiculously talented, is huge and has boundless energy. i would trade ANYONE on our team for ovechkin. i dont think lidstrom has a chance at winning the hart trophy because ovechkin seems like an absolute lock and he deserves it at this point. lidstrom is still one of the most underrated players of all time and i really want to see the guy win a hart trophy because he also deserves it. if a guy like pronger can win one, lidstrom should have 5. nick is having an amazing season and i agree with babcock and holland in that just because lidstrom has one hell of a supporting cast doesnt mean he isnt the league's most valuable player. p.s. I LOATHE SAMUELSSON.

but just because the league wants to give it to AO we need to get lidstroms name out there. and to do that we chant. ovechkin may be the best goal scorer, probably the fastest skater, he may be huge and knock everyone in his way on their asses and he may even lead the league in points and goals but lidstrom is awesome and therefore should win. case and point.

i love it. lidstrom needs a Hart trophy and seriously ovechkin? come on all he does it try to score goals and he takes like 15 shots a game so it stands to reason that they occassionally go in. his assists are just rebounds other people put in. in my opinion, maybe the most overrated player ever and im not the least bit impressed that he has scored like 48 goals in 58 games because gretzky scored 92 in a season. i wouldnt trade samuelsson for ovechkin. for these reasons i think everyone will see right through the ovechkin for hart trophy argument because his shooting percentage must be low.

this is all i think about these days! BRING BACK FEDOROV! i acquired him in nhl 08 so i dont see why kenny cant make it happen!

i hate samuelsson even more now...that is hockey 101 *******, when youre teammate is standing in front of the net you dont rifle one 6 feet in the air. usually this would mean that in practice someone would kick his ass but i doubt anyone will. come on downey beat the s*** out of sammy please and maybe even break his jaw

that news made my day. i would have been absolutely furious beyond belief if that p.o.s. ever suited up for the winged wheel. the only place i want to see him go is hell.

OF COURSE FIGHTING IS GOOD! it swings momentum all the time but most people fail to see that. if only calgary had a goaltender worth anything. on paper they have one of the best teams in the league even if tanguay sucks.

my wishlist! imagine this as our team: ovechkin/crosby/datsyuk nash/zetterberg/kovalchuk heatley/lecavalier/iginla st louis/thornton/malkin phaneuf/lidstrom rafalski/chara kaberle/al mcinnis luongo/brodeur MAKE IT HAPPEN KENNY!!!!!!!!!!

i watched the game on sopcast like i always do but wow...the wings gave up more odd man rushes and breakaways than pretty much any game this year. haha what a team we have! fans have no worries because obviously we'll win somehow even if it is off a horrible angle shot by danny cleary standing still! p.s. i didnt read this whole thread but did anyone else notice the horrible officiating? i thought every single penalty was b.s including the one minny took.
